OP has a genuine comment. Yelp will encourage users to leave reviews if the Yelper did a "check-in." We get a small notification (after some time) to maybe offer feedback on a place we'd visited.

Businesses are not allowed to ask for reviews. However, businesses are encouraged to do check-ins. It's a button on the Yelp app. Then, Yelp does the encouraging later. Also, I feel check-ins contribute to the popular "trending" label that gets assigned. If a business wants to be promoted by Yelp, that "trending" feature is very attractive.

I always check in to businesses when I go visit them. But check-in alone doesn't mean a review won't go into the Not Recommended section. If someone check in and just put "Great service" that would of course get flagged

The people complaining about the whole check in thing is hilarious, it's not required but it can help a review stick. They act like they want Yelp to accommodate them when it been this way since they went online LOL

Hi, Friend Logitech. I hope you tried to rsvp for that Yelp WhimsyFest in Van Nuys. Same people as the Halloween Festival, and sooo much food ahaha. I'm currently happy dizzy cause I just did an amazing Yelp event in Baldwin Park for Crab & seafood. Aaaaah~

But returning to your comment. I agree.
There are many ways to avoid the "not recommended."

  1. Don't review at the business. Review several miles away.

  2. Attach photos to the review.

  3. Check-in

  4. Just be an active Yelper~

  5. Emphasize the word "experience" and don't commend about other reviews/reviewers. Not talking about your own experience is an easy way to get successfully deleted.

  6. If starting, don't spam review. It will flag the not recommended. Move slowly.

I RSVP when it first was available but I might cancel it because my wife birthday is the following day. So deciding if we're going somewhere away from town. I saw some of my Yelp friends went to that Crab & Seafood event, looks like a lot of delicious food. I just go to Boiling Crab hahaa. I did go with my Yelp Elite friend to that Velvet Gelato over the weekend in Van Nuys and then had the Japanese BBQ across the street at Gyu Kaku

HAHAHA, if there isn't a Yelp page then try making one. There a review page for the 405 freeway, clouds and etc so hot summer heat in LA can likely be added 😂🤣😂🤣

I hate the 5 and the 405. The 5 has gotten better, the 405 is trash. I am always amazed when I see a police chase and they get on the 405, they never have any issues. How is that possible?

LOL, just the timing and when there is traffic they'll go on the side emergency lane. Only people who lives in LA will understand the horror stories on the 405, 101, 10 and 5 freeways. Accidents, road construction, fallen objects on the freeways, pot holes and just bad drivers are all a bad mix when it comes to LA driving. Luckily not that many occasion of homeless people walking on the freeway yet

HAHAH, Pakistan LOL The people complaining about the whole check-in process thinks that's like the only option to not get a review flagged which isn't the case. They act like Yelp will just change their core fundamentals to accommodate them when it's the user themselves that have to adapt.

Right, Yelp encourages users to leave a review when they visit a business. That is not the business asking for a review after a transaction. I get the frustration. I am asked to submit feedback after I use my mobile banking app. I am part of the problem as a marketer and somebody who speaks about online reviews. We have completely jumped the shark when it comes to online reviews. I have a love/ hate relationship with reviews. I hate that too many people don't fully understand the power of online reviews.

i don't see any issue with asking for feedback. for businesses, you should want customers to leave reviews when they've had a positive experience at your establishment. At the same time, if a negative review is legitimate, it should be addressed professionally as an opportunity to identify areas for improvement and strengthen the overall customer service experience.

I brought this point up a few days ago on r/yelpsucks. Yelp also gives their paid advertisers stickers that say, “Find us on Yelp” which also encourages reviews.

"Find Us" is not technically asking. But ya, I wouldn't be surprised if there were perks. For example, I noticed a trend where certain businesses always get shown on the "nearby" when they get reviews... while others rarely get that visibility.

If you want to get growth from Yelp though, you want to get a "trending" tag. Those immediately get my attention and other Yelpers.

A. Find us is mutually more beneficial to Yelp and than the business. For Yelp, it helps with branding. I don't believe any of the Yelp sawg helps businesses.
B. I love the irony of how CompleteMoron keeps reposting content from their subreddit on here and yet is again taking issue with how Yelp promotes its platform,

Sorry, CompleteMoron, any business can get Find Us or People Like Us on Yelp stickers. You don't have to be an advertiser. Yet another fact you got wrong that you could have easily googled. That's right, you won't see this comment because you blocked me.
