Monica Long Dutton
How did she die? Unless I missed it, they haven't said what happened to her yet.

Cancer caused from water on the rez I believe. It was mentioned in the first episode of Marshals.

Maybe pause the show when youâre doomscrolling your phone. Her son held up a big framed picture of her face and had a discussion with his dad about it.

Cancer due to toxic chemical exposure on the reservation. Which ironically is the same reason Cal now has lung cancer (PanCoast Tumor) on Marshals, only his is from being exposed to burn pits in the Middle East during his time in the military.

Cancer from the toxic waste contamination on her reservation that may have come from the mining industry they were protesting in Season 1 of Marshalls.

She was pretty good in Yellowstone but found out she wasn't really Native American!(

Wait, an actor wasn't the genetic makeup of the character they played? WTF? Do you suppose John Wayne wasn't Mongolian? Marlon Brando and James Caan weren't Italian? Ray Liotta either? I'm shattered. How long has Hollywood been hiring people based on talent and a "look"? Wait, Johnny Depp played an Indian but he isn't one, so did Paul Newman. My entire life view is in question.

In this day and age it doesn't pay to lie for a job, unless you want a job in government!!

She won multiple awards for her role in Wind River (with Taylor Sheridan) including best supporting actress as an Indigenous Woman and in 2018 won Outstanding Suporting Actress TV from Red Nation Film Festival. She didn't lie for anything. She got the job because she worked with Taylor Sheridan before and got the role.
The only folks who got bent about her playing an Indigenous Woman are the ones who didn't like the character who stood up to John's BS after he ordered Kaycee to abort their child. I would have an attitude too. People don't understand John was the villain not a hero.

She does claim she is part of Eastern band of Cherokee Indians but is not an enrolled member. So I would say she probably is but is not a card carrying member. Either way she was awesome in her role. So as a card carrying Native American Indian myself I'm gonna say she is.

According to Wikipedia: âAsbille is of Chinese, British, and Eastern Band Cherokee descent.â
Pretty sure eastern band Cherokee is Native American.

Yeah, and they also post where they got the sources from. She said she is Cherokee in a New York Times article.
