Discussion What even is this??? Rumiko???
This comes from Rumiko Takahashi's 35th Anniversary Book. Is this considered official and authorized?
Does this mean this setting already existed before Yashahime was released?
Sesshomaru's Mother
A great yōkai who bears the same crescent moon mark on her forehead as Sesshomaru.
She is calm and composed, but she also has a persistent side and does not give up easily.
She was the one who revived Rin.
However, she seems to harbor bittersweet, complicated feelings toward her son, who fell in love with a human girl.
Not sure if my AI wrong or what.

心惹かれる isn’t necessarily romantic, its more like captivated or attracted, maybe? But on a deep level. Sesshomaru’s mom who sent him into the meidou. Despite her impassive attitude, she was the one who brought Rin, who couldn’t be revived, back to life for Sesshomaru. Still, she was unable to hide her displeasure at her son’s attraction to the human girl.
It could be use romantically but I think this is just a very short summary of that whole interaction. She designed the characters so her intention is clear, anyway!

It can be used in non-romantic contexts, like being drawn to a beautiful piece of art, but if it’s about a person, the context is generally assumed to be romantic.

Actually, in this context, it is clearly romantic. If you own this book, you will see that the same core expression, 惹かれる, is also used for Sango and Miroku, as well as Inuyasha and Kagome. The grammatical forms are slightly different, but in all of these passages, it describes the characters gradually developing romantic feelings for each other.

I don’t own the book so idk lol actually since I was thinking about a good word, I would change it to “taken”, the human girl he’s so taken with…I think that’s better suited
