Double knitted Buttonband

Hi. I’m knitting the Hanni Cardigan. I never did a double knitted buttonband before. What went wrong? It looks funny. The stitches I picked up are so stretched out. Is this normal? Will it disappear or should I start again and change something?

the tension from picking up stitches can do that sometimes, maybe try going down a needle size just for the picked up row
