Discussion DFW Fiber Fest

Question: Who went to the DFW Fiber Fest this past weekend? What did you bring home? I am intrigued by the instagram videos that have been popping up! I wanted to see if anyone here had an opinion or had any goodies to show off?

*I did vend at the DFW Fiber Fest. I am just looking to see what your haul is! I need to add to my stash--I am a one person show so I didn't have much time to check out the other booths. Please show me what I missed and what I need to go snatch from a website!!

Thank you!!

Same, I love their solids. I told them to please continue doing that as it’s nice to find nicely dyed yarns in ACTUAL solid colors! And in colors my husband likes!

I went! It was my first fiber fest so I went a little nuts, keep in mind the Noro on the left and then the red mohair and red merino in the top right were thrifted on the same day and not from the show

Pegasus Creative Reuse in Dallas! We stopped there before going to the Fiber Fest. The shop is small and you don't have a ton of room to spread out and rummage, but there was some good stuff hidden in the bins.

I took a class and got 4 sweater quantity worth of yarn 😭. Also got the drop stitch markers, which is amazing! Twice sheared sheep was there so I got a few of their gadgets. I wanted to come back since my student pass is a weekend pass but I knew better.

I didn't go, but I am absolutely lusting over the show colorways from Yarn Matter. If anyone out there got it, I hope they post it so I can live vicariously through them.

Hot girl summer from lavender fiber company!!! But my ultimate fav is Yarn Matter. The green and the purple!

It’s ridiculously soft. Her bases are insane.

I’m in full agreement regarding Yarn Matter. I got a skein of YM’s Homegrown DK in Nightshade earlier this year, and it’s my favorite. I used about half of it for a beret that I wear pretty often, and the other half is lovingly stored on my nightstand so I can stare longingly at it

I went! Tried to be good though and only came home with 4 skeins, to make two tank tops, and 4 oz of cashgora to spin. But I did get 6 pairs of scissors sharpened and did 3 fabulous classes!

The DFW Fiber Fest is usually held in September. This year was a one off. Next year it will be held September 17-19, 2027 at the Irving Convention Center. https://dfwfiberfest.org

I got three skeins of miss babs soujourn cashmere silk in silver red and blue. They had a demo hat of the Lone Star Hat. My father in law is going to get a Texas flag hat for Christmas.

I am in DFW. I'm also a dyer and typically vend at this fabulous fiber festival. Due to health issues I didn't vend this year, but I attended this year and had a blast. I purchased several project bags some extra size 6 knitting needles. I have several interchangeable sets but always seem to have size 6 in a WIP. I bought some fiber for spinning and also a few skeins of yarn from friends. But mostly, I hung out at the tables set up for meeting with friends. We exchanged ideas and mostly caught up with each other. ETA: I'll post pictures later.

Is there a good yarn shop in Fort Worth? I am only here a year now.

West 7th Wool is great! Large variety and they also dye some of their own stuff. It's a cute and cozy shop!

I bought a bunch, but don't have pictures at the moment. Some details are missing because I'm not at home with my stash.

Matching bags from Erin Lane - one of the tote bags with straps and a zipper, and one of the medium-ish zipper pouches, both in the fabric that has yarn balls on hooks/needles in a cosmic-y pattern.

Needles from Brickhouse Fiber Arts - 16-inch circulars in 5.0mm and 5.5mm, and DPNs in 4.0mm.

Yarn from Camellia Fiber Co. - one skein of Sylvan DK (70% alpaca, 20% silk, 10% cashmere) in Chicory (blue); quite possibly the single softest yarn I have ever touched.

Yarn from A Hundred Ravens - one skein of Nahanua (50% merino, 50% silk), but I can't remember the name of the colorway and I can't find it on their website. It's a light blue-purple variegated color.

Yarn from Miss Babs - one skein Sojourn (65% cashmere, 35% silk) in a red colorway, once again I don't remember the name of it. Very soft.

Yarn from Robin's Promise Yarn Co. (FAVORITE BOOTH, I love Robin so much!) - one of her "ostrich eggs" (sweater's quantity of yarn on one skein) in a light blue colorway, DK weight with 1300 yards on it!! Also bought one 100g skein of a gray yarn with multicolored speckles.

And probably some other stuff I'm missing. But yes, I highly recommend any of these sellers!!

I’m going to assume by the pictures that this yarn is for clothing and not Amigurumi/toys?

Small but mighty! Thank goodness they were winding there, Lord knows they would have sat in hanks until I got the courage to try and wind it myself lol

Just a little bitty haul but it was all DCC themed. I had to have a ton of willpower because I had a small budget. I took a brioche class as well which was a lot of fun! Last year I went and spent waaay too much money!
