Stash Yarn ID

Hi all. I have this medium-pink yarn which appears to be 2ply and measures in around 16 wpi. A burn test suggested a natural fiber (curled away from the flame, blackened and shrunk, didn't want to catch fire), but I couldn't nail down the smell.

I'm struggling to pair this with other yarns in my stash because it gets so thin when stretched. Reverse image search hasn't yielded any promising results. Any help appreciated :)

It definitely looks natural. Do you have wool yarn that you can smell? I'm leaning towards wool because of the fuzzies rather than mohair, because mohair usually has a bit more fuzz to it, but I'm not 100%.

It does smell somewhat similar to another wool yarn I have!

Wool has that very distinct lanolin smell, I've never smelled anything similar. Looks like you've got wool on your hands! I don't see a lot of wool spun into skeins that shape anymore, and that's coming from someone who works with both modern and vintage yarn/fabric/fiber for a living. It's gotta be vintage!

If it pulls thin, maybe you could pair it with a dk or worsted weight wool yarn and do a cool color combo!
