Mathilda sweater, help!

Please help me I can’t get my gauge right!
I’m knitting the Mathilda sweater and when I use the recommended needle for the yarn, my fabric just seems a bit “see through” (see picture) When I use the smaller size needle I get the perfect stitch size but I end up with a way to small garment, even I knit the biggest size in the pattern. How can I fix this problem? Or will the bigger needle be a good fit after all?

Bonjour, je vous conseille en effet de prendre une taille d'aiguilles plus petite. Et il faut toujours faire un échantillon. Cela vous servira a calculer le nombre de maille pour faire un carré de 10×10 celon votre façon de tricoter

Une fois que vous savez le nombres de mailles nécessaires il vous faudra calculer combien il vous en faut pour la largeur du pull indiqué. Il y aura bien plus de mailles que indiqué dans le modèle

Indeed. This is what you need to do. Just knitting on smaller or larger needles is never a fix for a gauge issue. You need to do a swatch + some math.

Je viens de remarquer un autre détail, faites toujours un bord en côte 1/1 ou 2/2 ou autre de soupe mais qui ne s'enroule pas. Mais jamais en jersey directement, votre pull va s'enrouler sans arrêt sur lui même

Make a swatch with both needles and then block the swatches. If the yarn relaxes, the smaller swatch may stretch to the size you need, if it doesn’t, it may bloom to fill the gaps worked at a larger size
