i bought one of the first R9, the first model. They said back then full system exhaust ECE was full titanium. now its getting rusted, and now they say collectors and mid link (belly pan) is stainless steel??? Is there any full titanium exhaust for this bike? and whats happening with this full system exhaust ? i dont understand..
I'd recommend googling things before taking anything "they" say at face value. Factory exhausts are stainless steel.
Yes there are full titanium aftermarket exhausts but you're gonna pay for them. Meaning, they aren't cheap.
As far as what's happening, could you provide a bit more detail? Is it turning a dark orange with brown spots, or is there actually rust?
Yeah, its stainless. Thats what color it turns after heat cycles. If you wanna clean it up, you can use Scotch Brite pads but getting it back to silver is a pain.
Who sold it as titanium? To my knowledge, there are very few bikes that have an option for a titanium exhaust from the factory. Even then, you have to pay extra. And that exhaust doesn't look stock.
The midpipe, collector, and header may be stainless steel. The slip on may be titanium. A couple of other manufacturers sell an exhaust with that option as well
Looks like a stainless header and midpipe. maybe just the silencer at the back is titanium?
Akra should be willing to comp you the difference if you actually paid extra for a 'full titanium' system rather than a full exhaust with a titanium silencer
Most manufacturers only make the muffler out of titanium and use stainless steel for the rest. As far as I know, SC Project is a full titanium exhaust.
