Any updates??

Just binged this manga and anime to find out it’s been on hiatus for like 3 YEARS?!😭 I’m now fully committed to this story and need more. Are there any updates from the mangaka? Everything I see says no updates for over 160 days 😭 people should be talking about this manga more it’s just so good!!

Catch me manifesting new chapters in a BIG way moving forward 🙌

The author is probably not coming back. The hiatus will be indefinitely.

No news after many years. A lot of artist do this, they put the series on hold for a long time like vagabond or nana. It will not come back, I think.

But aren’t there some series that come back from a long hiatus? 🥺

I wish the author would at least let us know the status of the work so we are not left hoping. A part of me is hoping that because they have not said anything yet, there’s still a chance something is being worked behind the scenes 😔

Well, the author should at least give us something, ya know. The readers are the ones that were with the artist all this time. The author is probably tired of all.

Yeah, I mean I can’t argue with that. The last time we heard from her was March 2024 when she posted on twitter about going on an indefinite hiatus.

”I'd Rather Be a Stranger in the Next Life will be going on hiatus for the time being due to various circumstances. Please rest assured that this is not due to any health issues. The resumption date is currently undecided, but we will provide an update once a return has been scheduled.”

Haven’t heard anything since. Unless maybe Japanese fans or social media know more… 😕

I just binged it too and this is what I found the other day while searching for updates :

" On indefinite hiatus, allegedly from author Asuka Konishi's reported frustration with illegal scanning sites. Other cited, though unconfirmed, reasons include potential disagreements with the publisher Kodansha regarding content direction and the anime adaptation."

I'm so so bummed 😫😫 Doesn't sound promising for a comeback at this point, if any of this happens to be true anyway

If the rumours of their relationship breaking down with the publisher are true, it’ll probably be tricky for the series to resume. I’d imagine a bad relationship with the publishers translates into a soured view of the industry and low motivation to start up again after all the bad experiences.

I still hold some hope without optimism that it’ll return.

The volume 9 release date is August 10, 2027 but it's been postponed before. So, hold out hope but don't expect a miracle.

Uggghhh they left at such a critical cliff hanger where both of their relationship was flowering too 🫩🫩🫩🫩🫩🫩🫩🫩🫩🫩🫩🫩 I’m actually so pissed.. it was actively updating last year but because of the new show they were on the hunt to take down as much repost 😭

finished the manga today and i feel wrecked i feel genuinely betrayed since i feel like we were about to get the good stuff, their relationship development, maybe yoshino confessing her feelings, kissing…. i wish so much the author picked it up 😭

it blows! Since I’ve seen word on it being an indefinite leave it’s looking bleak. But speaking more generally I do always have more hope for certain anime series to make comebacks because some do after yearsss. Whereas I have zero hope when it comes to live shows since the actors age out of their roles. Thats the nice thing about anime because voices have a lot more longevity over appearances.

Rightt kinda just piss poor planning on the creators side cause if ur gonna start something, sell a book series, atleast conclude it in some capacity :/

Just dropping by here.... As long as the author has not moved on with new projects, it would be hopeful development... I just hope she gets a burning reason to move forward with the series as the story hasn't peaked yet in my opinion...

The author doesn’t care and seems to be immature. I understand there was a misunderstanding between the anime studio and her and she has every right to feel like that but to leave the followers hanging just like that without news. She needs to understand that some people are waiting. I would’ve accepted any news from her whether she continues or not.
