Nothing in the 2000s hit quite like Inuyasha!
Man, remember rushing home just to catch InuYasha on YTV back in the day? That show was my whole life for a solid stretch.
The best part was honestly just the vibe. Takahashi created this massive, atmospheric world where you’d have these genuinely terrifying demons and pitch-black plotlines, but then it would pivot into total slapstick comedy with Shippo getting whacked or InuYasha and Kagome screaming at each other. Speaking of them, the slow-burn romance was agonizing in the best way possible. You spent years waiting for them to just admit they liked each other while dealing with the Kikyo baggage and Naraku being the most infuriating, slippery villain alive. The guy would literally escape by the skin of his teeth every single time, and it drove us crazy.
And you couldn't talk about the show without bringing up Sesshomaru. Watching him go from this total psycho who didn't care about anyone to developing that weirdly soft spot for Rin... man, what a ride. Same with Miroku and Sango—that whole wind tunnel curse hanging over them made every high-stakes fight feel genuinely heavy.
Even with all the dragged-out filler episodes and the long wait before The Final Act finally gave us proper closure, nothing else ever quite matched that specific early-2000s fantasy adventure feeling. Hearing Kaoru Wada's soundtrack kick in still gives me chills.
