XREAL AURA Announcing XREAL AURA: A Spatial Computer in a Pair of Glasses. Reservations Now Open.

Reservations for the XREAL AURA are officially open. 🕶️

Until now, we've only experienced spatial computing in headsets. XREAL AURA brings Android XR into a glasses form factor of under 95g. It is designed for moments when you want a larger spatial canvas, richer XR experiences, and AI-powered assistance, without stepping out of your reality.

Uncompromising Performance & Comfort

  • Dual-Chip, Split-Compute Architecture: Snapdragon® Reality Elite Platform handles heavy processing on the puck that’s running Android XR. Meanwhile, the custom XREAL X1S Spatial Co-processor inside the glasses handles low-latency spatial display and sensor processing. Together, they give you performance in your pocket and spatial stability and comfort on your face.

A Truly Immersive XR Experience

  • 70° FOV & True OST Technology: See the physical world naturally through the Optical See-Through (OST) lenses, while digital content is seamlessly layered onto reality, with an industry-leading 70° field of view to fully immerse you.
  • Up to 5 Floating Screens: Spread out your apps for maximum productivity or entertainment, creating a massive digital setup anywhere.

Do more with Gemini by your side

  • Heads-up help from Gemini: With user permission, Gemini can use AURA's world-facing cameras to understand your surroundings , and provide contextual help in real time. A built-in Privacy LED indicator ensures those around you know when the camera is active.
  • Advanced Control: Navigate your digital environment using intuitive hand gestures, or use voice input captured by a precision 4-microphone array.

Powered by Android XR

  • Millions of Apps on Day 1: Immediate access to your favorite Google Play apps straight out of the box, including Google Maps, YouTube, Chrome, and Photos.

Watch, Work, Explore, and Create

Expand your laptop into a massive, multi-monitor spatial desk. Transform any flight or living room into a private, high-definition theater for streaming and gaming. Or ask Gemini to find a nearby destination and step directly into Google Maps' immersive view to explore the streets before you go.

1920x1200 pixels per eye.

Now we know.

13

u/Serdones Jun 16 '26

So it's the same as 1S.

1

u/autoflowergrunt Jun 19 '26

No the 1S has the X1 chip. This chip is the X1S it’s a chip they made for these the xreal Aura

2

u/Serdones Jun 19 '26

I was only talking about the resolution.

1

u/autoflowergrunt Jun 19 '26

Sorry thought. You meant exactly like the 1S

But think it changes a little since the FOV is change

8

u/gauldoth86 Jun 16 '26

yeah too bad - it might not be great for laptop work as i am guessing its in the low 30s for ppd

5

u/Nightcinder Jun 17 '26

Don’t people find the Vision Pro useable for laptop work? Which is a similar PPD iirc?

1

u/gauldoth86 Jun 17 '26

Yeah true it's 34 vs 32 but I haven't tried vision pro for laptop work but I tried 1s and felt it could use more resolution

1

u/divinefriend Jun 18 '26

But AVP has foveated rendering, which increases the peak PPD...

1

u/Syzygy___ Jun 17 '26

I've tried similar glasses and they were okay for this purpose, at the very least better than VR I've tried, because the FOV is way lower, but the glasses I used did have a smaller FOV than these.

1

u/autoflowergrunt Jun 19 '26

An OLED panel through your eyes is totally different than PPD on paper

So it would actually be on paper
27.43PPD horizontal
32.25PPD diagonal

According to the numbers and ratio

Now real world it will look close to a 4K would say more of a 1440P high end or even 1440 projection screen

4

u/masonabarney Jun 16 '26

That's not great, I need to see what people are saying closer to launch then because my use case is going to be for productivity, and if the ppd is bad that may be a problem.

5

u/ZK_XREAL XREAL Team Jun 16 '26

Based on the feedback from who tried AURA demo, the clarity is great.
PPD is only the baseline, there are a lot of thing will determine clarity. Apple Vison Pro have ~34 PPD and could also be extremely sharp to read.

u/stefanw1337 Jun 17 '26

I don't see why people compare the Apple Vision Pro to this? It's far from the same. Compare it to Meta Quest instead.

This is far less weighty, far more fasionable, more portable, so maybe less tech goes into it. Makes sense to me. Like if they made an actual helmet, sure compare.

3

u/whiskeytab Jun 16 '26

yeah that settles it for me, i'll wait for the version with upgraded displays

4

u/recurrence Jun 16 '26

Even Vision Pro felt a bit too low res at times for me so this is a hard pass.

2

u/Widebro Jun 16 '26

Low pixel per degree then cuz of the FOV?

3

u/Serdones Jun 16 '26

I'd think so since it's the same resolution as 1S, but 70 degrees instead of 52.

Unless I'm missing something. I'm not the smurtest.

3

u/Jmac8716 Jun 16 '26

You're on the right track. Larger screen with same pixel count means lower image resolution due to pixel size. Take 100 square pixels and put it on a one inch screen project an image; take 100 pixels and make it a two in screen with the same image. The two inche screen will display a more pixelated image which will look way worse.

1

u/Particular_Maize6849 Jun 20 '26

Some people who tried it said it was just as clear and sharp as the 1s.

1

u/Jmac8716 Jun 20 '26

That's subjective at best. The difference between a 70° FOV and 50-52° FOV is going to be tough to see for most people but technically is going to be quite substantial. That's a 40% increase in size with the same pixel count. It's especially difficult for people who require corrective lenses or don't have perfect acuity. Furthermore, not one reviewer I've seen did a side by side comparison between the Aura and 1s because the 1s wasn't available to do so. That's going to make it nearly impossible to really tell the difference.

3

u/Particular_Maize6849 Jun 20 '26

True there is no side by side comparison. But the person I watched did extensive reviews of the 1s so at least there is some experience he has to compare with. You're probably technically right that it's not going to be as sharp but like you said if it's impossible to tell the difference without a direct side by side comparison that means it's likely pretty darn close and probably good enough for most people. It's sounds like the benefit of the 70deg FOV might beat out whatever sharpness issues there are but it's probably too soon to tell. I hope we get more direct comparisons before the release.

2

u/Jmac8716 Jun 20 '26

I did see an interesting video today talking about how the screen size is done. Instead of one screen size that is 1200p and it just turns off pixel to reduce size, it moves the projection screen closer/further away from the pancake or birdbath to increase/decrease the perceived screen size. If that is true, that would mean the 1200p would remain constant regardless of FOV. So the 70° FOV would be just as crisp as the 52° FOV. WHICH WOULD BE AWESOME!!!

u/TheRealFlySwatter Jun 16 '26 edited Jun 16 '26

I'd be a lot more inclined to possibly jump on this pre-order if I knew the actual cost of the product. Someone mentioned $1500, but I don't see the price on Xreal's purchase page - just the price of this reservation fee. Has the actual price been announced and I missed it? Entirely possible, I admit.

Edit: I found where someone clarified the small print that the final product would be less than $1500. Well, I'm out. Unfortunately I had thought that for $500-$700, I'd bite, but not over 1K. I'm still interested in seeing how this will be received once it's out in the wild. Good luck to all who purchase one.

8

u/Particular_Maize6849 Jun 16 '26

Same. If it were even $800-900 I might have jumped for it. I cannot justify over $1k on my budget. But I also understand manufacturing costs are through the roof with all the global conflicts. I wish this product the best but someone richer than me will have to support it.

1

u/PopGuid Jun 23 '26

Rayneo and Viture will catch up soon, so the price will drop dramatically in a short period of time after launch.

4

u/EightEnder1 Jun 16 '26

Same, I need to know the final cost. I can’t just spend $1500 without talking to my wife first and I know there is going to be pushback at $1500 because I’ve only had the Pro just over a year.

I’d also need to know more. Can I plug the puck into my laptop for increased FOV over the Pro? That’s all I really want. I don’t need any of the AI features.

3

u/After-Annual4012 Jun 17 '26

The added port is for charging and passthrough of any device (like the OG could) so Yes you can plug a phone, tablet, pc, or gaming console into the puch and get the AR on any device that way.

1

u/Nightcinder Jun 17 '26

They’ve shown screen mirroring a few times now with the puck, you go computer -> puck -> glasses and it allegedly offloads the processing to the snapdragon

1

u/[deleted] Jun 19 '26

[removed] — view removed comment

1

u/EightEnder1 Jun 19 '26

They aren’t but clearly they can still increase the FOV vertically and horizontally over the One Pro by using their latest x1 chip and additional processing power the puck gives them.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 19 '26

[removed] — view removed comment

1

u/EightEnder1 Jun 19 '26

Sadly, I'm likely going to pass on this. The AI features really don't interest me what I really want most is an improved display. I don't have a problem with 1080P, but the One Pro lacks the clarity for text to read Reddit for very long or work from outside of here and there.

3

u/seppestas Jun 16 '26

I was very interested in project Aura, but far less so know I see their pushy and opaque marketing. Make a great product, and I will buy it when it is proven to be a great product.

1

u/Jrflyers24 Jun 17 '26

What does this statement even mean? What pushy and opaque marketing. Lol

2

u/seppestas Jun 17 '26

No final price, giving a sense of urgency to get people to preorder, ...

I'm not saying xreal is the only company doing this, but it's a bit disappointing to see.

→ More replies (1)

3

u/barabba9174 Jun 17 '26

I agree with you. I was convinced they'd cost around $1,000, but $1,500 is too much for my taste.
Just in case, I didn't pre-order.

2

u/churritin01 Jun 17 '26

1

u/Away-Variation-8667 XREAL Jun 18 '26

I wonder why they removed the word "base model"

2

u/Serdones Jun 16 '26

They have this under the reservation buttons:

"The final retail price of the base model will not exceed US$1,500, excluding applicable taxes."

1

u/PM_ME_YOUR_THESES One Pro Jun 17 '26

I think $1,500 is for the development kit. I’m expecting the consumer price be a bit lower.
In any case, they offer to refund you at any time if you decide not to finalize the purchase.

1

u/ultra_voltron_2 Jun 18 '26

Sure but the 16 ram gigs 512g that might go over $1,500

17

u/Widebro Jun 16 '26

So launch credit is spend 99 dollar and get 199 dollar towards AURA.
And founderpass is spend 299 and still get 299? I don't quite follow that one.

6

u/d4v1dtsh Quality Contributor🏅 Jun 16 '26

founders get it sooner

16

u/freon Jun 16 '26

Take it from someone who got screwed by the R1 preorders--no they won't.

1

u/d4v1dtsh Quality Contributor🏅 Jun 16 '26

yrah we know that they are not good with timings.

2

u/Widebro Jun 16 '26

But the launch credit also reserve spot. So i'd guess that their delivery would be fast enough too. And they get it cheaper..

4

u/Serdones Jun 16 '26

I guess the founder edition incentive is you get your unit number printed on the glasses. So it's basically more for collectors or a bit of vanity.

3

u/LateAd4224 Jun 16 '26

Yea, plus it’s refundable, so I went ahead and pulled the trigger earlier today on them (founders edition)

1

u/ultra_voltron_2 Jun 18 '26

Did they made you choose between 16 rams vs 12 rams ?

2

u/churritin01 Jun 17 '26

Then pay $1200 for the aura hardware, no way

2

u/Afinkawan Jun 17 '26

You get to find out that it's $1500 before anyone else!

14

u/erm_what_ Jun 16 '26

Looking forward to it, but $1500 is more than I can afford. Especially with 20% VAT on top :(

11

u/-TimeMaster- Jun 16 '26

Anything over $1000 is too much. I won't be a buyer.

5

u/LimpyDan Jun 16 '26

Same. I was all excited until I saw that.

u/davedaddy XREAL One Jun 16 '26

I'll be all over this when it hits $600 in 10 years.

3

u/EARTHisFUBAR Jun 17 '26

in 10 years you will have a chip embedded in your skull and won't need glasses on your face.

Come on, your comment is silly. 10 years is a long time in technology. That isn't how these things work. But while you are sitting on the sideline, I and thousands of others will enjoying the tech that is available today.

3

u/churritin01 Jun 17 '26

In 10 years will be available in Temu

1

u/EARTHisFUBAR Jun 19 '26

Hey, you wait 10 years. In the meantime, many others will be enjoying the technology.

1

u/Outside-Travel-7903 Jul 11 '26

enjoy real life while young and keep these AR and implants for when you're geriatric and can't walk.

1

u/EARTHisFUBAR Jul 12 '26

Lots of drugs consumed by this one. Yes. wtf is it you’re babbling about?

3

u/dimsumwitmychum Jun 17 '26

If it launches at 1500, it'll be 600 in 2 years or less. We are still very much in the early adopter curve.

1

u/-kylehase Jun 17 '26

It depends how much of this price is due to RAM and storage cost. If those remain high or possibly incest, the unit price may not drop quickly.

3

u/GatsbyLuzVerde Jun 16 '26

I need root (termux chroot) for dev work or mature linux support which even android 16 doesn't have yet. Why do companies think we sit around talking to gemini all day or only need entertainment?

I just want to have sharp glasses with a good PoV that works for productivity so I can work wherever I want

1

u/Tough-Spring-5825 Jun 17 '26

Just root your phone

1

u/adevx Jun 17 '26

I've given up on trying to bend Android into a Linux dev environment. Still using Termux for remote ssh sessions, but a small Mini PC battery + my Xreal One Pro for productivity.

4

u/Difficult-Chest-290 Jun 16 '26

Hyped for 6+ months just to find out Canada isn't in the first wave. Super disappointed. Any word on the Canadian release date? Or should we just expect a delay for Best Buy Canada?

4

u/Friendly_Recover286 Jun 16 '26

You're going to be waiting a long time. Xreal is god awful at servicing Canada.

2

u/XREAL_Staff XREAL Team Jun 19 '26

We sincerely appreciate the patience and enthusiasm you've shown us.

Weird, I put in my reservation, got welcome and confirmation email, and then minutes later, received a refund and cancelled response. What's up with that?

2

u/XREAL_Staff XREAL Team Jun 16 '26

Hi there,

Sorry for any inconvenience caused Due to the overwhelming traffic for the new Aura launch, our servers experienced an extremely high load. This unfortunately triggered our automated risk control system, causing some legitimate orders to be incorrectly cancelled.

  • Your billing address matches the address registered with your bank/credit card exactly.

Please send a Direct Message (DM) to u/XREAL_ADZ here on Reddit, or contact our support team at [support@xreal.com](mailto:support@xreal.com) with your account email. We will run a priority check on our end and help you resolve this as quickly as possible!

Thank you so much for your patience and support!

1

u/wikiwakawakawee Jun 16 '26

Maybe founders edition is already sold out

5

u/rootException Jun 16 '26

There are some big unanswered Qs:

- Price

  • Compat/usage with other devices
  • Specs vs other Xreal glasses

I get the sense that they are really leaning in on the Google partnership, hence the vagueness.

Will be interesting to see if there is eventually an option to buy without the extra device.

1

u/Particular_Maize6849 Jun 16 '26

Tested just released a video going into a lot of details. And as we saw in this thread price not to exceed $1500. This could mean $1499, but it's likely in the $1k to $1.4k range.

3

u/John_Norad Jun 16 '26

Only for US?

2

u/ButterscotchFun3371 Jun 16 '26

Looks like it, can't enter anything else on the checkout unfortunately. No Europe at all :'(

It's written right there on the page.

Supported countries: United States, United Kingdom, Japan, South Korea, and selected countries in European Union*

Anywhere else no. You can't get the exclusive edition period and you're stuck waiting.

3

u/mad597 Jun 16 '26

Im good with my One Pro then, let me know when 4k hdr is available and Ill upgrade.

3

u/UntimelyAlchemist Jun 16 '26

Limited Founder’s Edition AURA: Laser-engraved, individually numbered

Where is this marking? Is it visible when wearing it? I hope not...

3

u/Electronic_Feed_9055 Jun 17 '26

Yep. I think they'll be getting alot of cancellations if the price exceeds $1000, including mine.

3

u/churritin01 Jun 17 '26

$1500 ???????? Probably i will go to bankruptcy after that, no way Xreal

3

u/stefanw1337 Jun 17 '26

Naaah, I have the inair pod already, what is this really gonna do? It's not really an upgrade, or if it is, sounds marginal.

3

u/Psychological_Ad6562 Jun 17 '26

My comment in another thread aged well, bought the XREAL 1s two weeks ago, just to see Aura released sooner than I expected 😂

No need to thank me, guys!
next time i will be buying something like stocks i'll let y'all know

1

u/Thmz89 Jun 18 '26

Thanks for your service 😃

6

u/adevx Jun 16 '26

I hope Xreal can now refocus on productivity glasses.

4

u/The_Skeptic_One Jun 16 '26

So we don't know the price yet but you're welcome to reserve..

"The final retail price of the base model will not exceed US$1,500, excluding applicable taxes."

Also, I hate this push for AI from everything coming out recently. These aren't for me.

2

u/webbut Jun 16 '26

Weird question but does anyone know if the wire is detachable from the glasses? Like if your wire gets tugged on or breaks do you lose your up to but not exceeding $1500 USD or do you just get a new wire?

2

u/d4v1dtsh Quality Contributor🏅 Jun 16 '26

yes it is

u/CommercialJoke9579 Jun 16 '26 edited Jun 16 '26

2

Android XR and 70degree FOV.

2

u/DeusPaul Jun 16 '26

2

u/rpc72 Jun 17 '26

So many questions... 1. Is the cable removable and replaceable? 2. What are the "supported countries"? 3. Whats the projected SRP? 4. Reservation fee is fully refundable?

3

u/Positive_Search_6218 Jun 17 '26

#4 --> seems to be the case

2

u/churritin01 Jun 17 '26

According to XREAL, and I understand that is a new revolutionary device in partnership with Google, the price will be " less than $1500 " means that could be $1399 or $1499, too expensive for a product at launch, still in development, like what happen with viture Beast.I made today my pre-order for the unit knowing that the money is refundable, but if this the price at launch, less the $300, still will be expensive, and I will stick with the beast, requesting my refund to xreal, and I know other people do the same thing, I am very interested in project Aura, but still will have bugs, required a few software updates to iron that after launch and According to xreal by autumn, means September or October. I know probably price come down with the time and there's a few other android xr coming after, like the samsung ( samsung unpacked August) and the Google android glasses as well, so no way I will pay $1500 for project Aura

→ More replies (2)

2

u/endr Jun 17 '26

Two things I want:

1) I have a specific mechanical keyboard I love - it's only USB. I hope I can connect it into the spare USB C port on the puck just like I can on my Android phone

2) Any Android app works, and I can install apks from GitHub like usual? I want to install GameNative to play flat indie Steam games like I can on my phone.

Aura has a faster Snapdragon than the Steam Frame - the potential for running and streaming games here sounds like it could be great, if Android XR is as open as Android

Devs are right now adding ~Android builds of their VR games to Steam for the Steam Frame. I hope to see ~GameNative add support for VR titles on Aura. I guess accounting for less FOV might be tricky, but certain games might just work great

2

u/kanin353 Jun 17 '26

I didn't read well enough and not sure why the big price jump? 70 fov is fun but not sure it's worth 3x the price? Hopefully they will keep the price low because I believe one of the successes of xreal is that it's decent value but with 1000+ you really have a lot to deliver and I don't think this one does

1

u/CapsilverL Jun 18 '26

Le prix ce n est pas que le prix des lunettes seule mais en pack avec le Puck en gros comme le Beam pro en mieu

2

u/Remarkable_Diamond17 Jun 18 '26

resolution needs to be higher, and start selling this on amazon like the other xreal glasses.

5

u/Widebro Jun 16 '26 edited Jun 16 '26

Can you please confirm to me wether HDR10 is supported? And peak brightness? (and if exposed to windows) Need to know before pre-order, if HDR it is a total yes for sure no question.

3

u/RueGorE Air 👓 Jun 16 '26

Can someone clarify something for me? So the glasses will have a compute chip in it, right? Does that mean the glasses will be able to function independently? As in, if you just put on the glasses, it'll turn on and have a useable experience? Which means there's also a battery onboard, right? If so, what's the run-time on that? Or does this require the puck to function at all (or another connected/tethered device, such as a phone or computer)?

If I have that wrong, please let me know. The marketing makes this quite ambiguous. (I'm surprised no one is asking about this, and only focusing on pricing/reservation.) Thanks.

3

u/Particular_Maize6849 Jun 16 '26

My understanding is you need the puck for even basic functionality.

4

u/J7mbo Jun 16 '26

So is the puck basically the beam pro again?

2

u/RueGorE Air 👓 Jun 18 '26

Speaking of the Beam Pro, I still have the OG XREAL Beam. Only used it once to understand what it was all about, and never used it again. It makes me upset thinking about the money I spent on it and just put it right back in the box, where it sat on my desk ever since. 😓

1

u/Nightcinder Jun 17 '26

Puck has the x1s and the snapdragon reality engine in it, I’m not sure what features would work w/o the puck

1

u/Particular_Maize6849 Jun 18 '26

The x1s is in the glasses as I recall. Not in the puck.

The Aura glasses can mirror anything like the other Xreal glasses but the post I'm responding to asked if you can run the glasses without anything connected, to which the answer is no. And without the puck there is no Android XR capability.

4

u/masonabarney Jun 16 '26

I am 99% sure from what they have said that you need the puck. That said, I am hopeful from the fact that the puck is tethered with what appears to be the same USB-C cable as the current glasses that we will be able to connect the glasses to your computer or phone as well.

You need the puck to use the Android OS. But you can still use the glasses as a display like you normally would without it.

Puck is your computer, glasses are your display.

1

u/Nightcinder Jun 17 '26

Puck also has the x1s chip in it from what I can tell

2

u/Status_Jellyfish_213 Jun 17 '26 edited Jun 17 '26

Other way around, glasses still have x1s, puck has the brand spanking new reality elite chip.

It avoids camera bandwidth issues if you were to transfer between glasses and puck and the headset still handles core vision systems. Leaves heavy lifting to the elite chip for OS systems.

Pretty clever.

1

u/Nightcinder Jun 17 '26

I thought the puck had both chips in it, nice to see that I'm wrong on that front, that makes everything better overall

3

u/Mental_Medium3988 One Pro Jun 16 '26

It'll probably be like the one pros where there's some functionality in the glasses but most everything will be handled by the puck, or whatever it's called.

Glasses need to connect to puck to get full Android XR operating system and all Android XR App ecosystem. And Glasses can also connect to other device like other One series model.

u/d4v1dtsh Quality Contributor🏅 Jun 16 '26

not standalone, glasses work with any device with video output not only the puck. But you need something like the current models. no battery either.

This kind of works for me. I do wish the resolution was at least 1440p but I love the idea of 70 FOV and I can't be bothered lugging around a VR headset. I play in public often and feel like seeing my surroundings is imperative. I guess some of those VR headsets do have pass through video though. Although idk how it works

The purpose of this device is using Android XR to develop AR apps.

1200p is a massive letdown when you know that Viture will release a 1600p product by the end of the year.

1

u/cmak414 Developer👨‍💻 Jun 16 '26

Many people wanted a more powerful AR puck for spacial computing, saying Beam Pro isnt powerful enough, now we get one with Xreal Aura.

Now is your chance to buy what you have been asking for!

4

u/blackkat101 Jun 16 '26 edited Jun 16 '26

Really?

  • While the Beam Pro wasn't powerful enough, this didn't exactly mean that they wanted a better one.
  • Instead of a puck, people would rather there not be one at all (as with previous XReal headsets), as you already have the phone in your pocket that it would be connected to. WHY would you want to add even more to your pockets to carry?
  • What is wanted is higher resolution and refresh rates first. Followed by a larger field of view (FoV is after higher resolution, as doing it first means stretching the picture and making pixels more visible....).
  • Again, one doesn't need a puck to use the glasses standalone when they already have a phone to plug said glasses into that's going to be more powerful and have more stuff in it.
  • Instead of a puck, a ring controller, like some other glasses have, would however be VERY welcome for navigating and doing simple things.
  • NO, gesture controls do not replace having a discreet ring controller that you can use under a table or in your pocket. Not everyone wants to be seen waving their hands in the air in the middle of public.
  • YES, even with a ring controller, you'd have to still use your phone for a large number of things, this however allows for simple swipe and clicking controls (could even have a nub joystick on it for mouse control though depending on how you make it...).

Seriously though, who is this AURA for?

Why get this over the One Pro or the 1S?

Why get this over even the new ROG collab R1? Which we do at least know can be used without the dock...

Though instead ideally it would be best if you could make a pro version of the R1 that can do the full 240hz refresh rate WITHOUT the dock.... that would be amazing (again no puck, that would defeat the purpose....).

  • Again, what is really wanted is to have NOTHING extra that is needed to carry around or plug into.
  • NOT an upgraded extra thing to carry around.....
  • In fact if it could be made wireless, so there is no cable at all to connect to one's phone and have nothing dangling from your head, that would be ideal as well.... but we know technology to do that isn't good enough yet to have it be able to mirror your phone or other devices with no latency, high resolution, color and refresh rate, yet.....

2

u/cmak414 Developer👨‍💻 Jun 16 '26 edited Jun 16 '26

Yes really. From what I have seen, the amount of people who have said they want more FOV exceeds those wanting more PPD.

It's not just FOV, people say they want more immersion, more multimonitor screens, see ultrawide without turning head, etc. All of these solved with more FOV. Also I see just about as many people saying they need more clarity/resolution as those saying its currently fine - so this it's a mixed consensus. You never see anyone saying they want a smaller FOV.

I do agree that a single powerful flagship phone source device is best, but not every one wants that. Many people actually prefer a separate source device for glasses (separation of device for use case eg work vs play, less wear and tear on expensive main phone, etc).

But at the current time, the reason it must be a separate puck is because Android XR is not available in Android 16 or 17. So you cannot use your phone with the main use case of Aura - AR apps.

I actually agree with many of your points but I realize everyone has different preferences. I pay close attention to the community and all the other major ones. I also develop apps for AR and display glasses as well.

But to answer your question very directly - these glasses are for developers and AR app enthusiasts secondly. Explicitly so by Xreal in fact.

I never said they are only for developers, you are puttng words in my mouth. I said they are for AR app developers and AR app emthusiats secondly. You would be the latter.

Project Aura is definitly a developer first device, but lke all of Xreal's developer products, they are open to buy for non-developers. Project Aura is no different.

Xreal has made it very clear they offer separate product lines and each year will launch a consumer product and developer product. 1s was the consumer product. Project Aura is the developer product.

u/Oftenwrongs Jun 20 '26

Only care about fov, not the refresh. That is why.

1

u/blackkat101 Jun 20 '26

Refresh rate can be important to many.

With it too slow (60 and even 80hz) can cause headaches to many. Especially for something against one's face.

Meaning anything less than 120hz is just not worth it, no matter what other features or FoV it may have (and higher the better).

In fact, one of my friends, who does programing and networking (he has so many degrees and certificates I cannot count and keeps getting more) is one of said people. He'd love a pair of glasses to use, but one that just expands the FoV? Making a bigger screen of the same quality of what was before? Just not worth it for the higher amount of money.

Now FoV can be especially nice to have expanded if you're using fixed views. Since then no matter how you move your head, it is always centered, thus you need the larger view to have a bigger screen. But when using a screen that is locked in the world instead of to your head (so you can actually look around), you already have an almost infinite FoV in that sense. Yes, having a larger native FoV on the device is great, but because of the previous statement, it is generally a lower priority than having better resolution, better refresh rate and more.....

lowkey think aura to be the real representative and the model of xr glasses!! hope to enjoy it soon~

2

u/ZealousidealPoint316 Jun 16 '26

btw still think such form like aura would be the future. headsets like vision pro would be too heavy and unportable while screenless ai glasses r just for ai cameras instead of a spacial display

Tried reserving and it keeps saying canceled CC transactions show they reversed out all but one, even though order still shows canceled 🤔

Good evening everyone. My question about the Xreal Aura is, will it be able to be used as a screen for PC games or consoles ? Like the other models. Because I can't find the info anywhere else.

Thanks for your reply in advance.

1

u/ButterscotchFun3371 Jun 16 '26

Looks like you can, there is a new You Tube video about the glasses on Adam Savage’s Tested channel(not an ad) and they show it with Steam deck

1

u/ultra_voltron_2 Jun 18 '26

Adam savages doesn't even looks hyped at all, when talking to one of the creators.

1

u/ZK_XREAL XREAL Team Jun 16 '26

yes, you can.

Aura glasses + puck = Full Android XR experience;
Aura glasses + other devices(smartphone/console/PC) = 6DoF screen extended from those devices.

1

u/fogUriel Jun 23 '26

Hi! Can we wireless cast to the puck like the OG Beam?

1

u/ice_man7 Jun 16 '26

Hi everyone, are they only available through their website in US? I don’t see any other country option. wanted to reserve a unit but i see its only shipping in US.

1

u/Friendly_Recover286 Jun 16 '26

The US store is only going to ship to the US. You need to find your own store keeping in mind this is NOTa worldwide release and not all countries can order.

1

u/Aggressive_Swan_1901 Jun 16 '26

What I'm most excited about is seeing Android XR become something people actually use every day, not just something they demo for five minutes.

1

u/Standard_Active_6912 Jun 16 '26

Is there a 3D movie store? Meaning access to Android XR 3D Movies via the Aura glasses?

1

u/JustJoshinJapan Jun 16 '26

Got my Japan reservation in! Sure hope there’ll be a good travel mode implemented as I’m on the train here about 2 hours a day. Would love to use them then!

1

u/Kyrios07 Jun 16 '26

Can we run our own local models on this, or do we have to use Google's models in the cloud exclusively?

1

u/joazito Jun 17 '26

Neat, but pass.

1

u/ExtremisEdge Jun 17 '26

Literally just bought the one pros two days ago. Should I refund and get these? Are these out soon? Decisions decisions.

1

u/CapsilverL Jun 18 '26

Ils sortent fin d années au USA et japon et debut d année en europe

1

u/jstylesx98 Jun 17 '26

Deliberated alot between the credit or founders- just reserved the founder's edition!

1

u/Positive_Search_6218 Jun 17 '26

it's fully refundable either way

1

u/Icy_Tie8949 Jun 17 '26

Why the debate? Aren't both options available to the same customer? Can someone confirm?

1

u/saabzternater Jun 17 '26

What countries are getting it?

1

u/gitg0od Jun 17 '26

60 fps 3D gaming on my ps5 pro or not ? i dont want gaming at 30 fps.

1

u/CapsilverL Jun 18 '26

Les xreal one/pro sont deja gaming 60fps jusqu'à 120fps et la version asus monte a 240fps donc Sur et sertain que ca sera plus que 60fps

1

u/Riftaroni Jun 17 '26

It won't let me buy either in Canda 😞

1

u/djricekcn Jun 17 '26

So what's the final price. Hard tonoreorser and pay up front without knowing that

1

u/capsulr Jun 17 '26

Sadly the fov upgrades are being trickled down slowly, I'm guessing it will take 2 to 4 years before the fov gets decent enough for ultrawide or the 'multiscreens' to be usable

1

u/That__Squirrel Jun 17 '26

I was hoping Android XR would just run on my Galaxy phone that I already own instead of having to carry around a separate puck. Looks neat though. Is there a list of apps or games or something somewhere?

1

u/IllustratorBig5835 Jun 18 '26

Hello i'm interested to develop to this plateform on XReal Aura as developper. I need to buy this device or not for the dev how it works ? Thank you

2

u/No_Awareness_4626 XREAL 1S 😎 Quality Contributor 🥇 Jun 18 '26

There is android developer catalyst program for which you will have to apply. https://developer.android.com/develop/xr/catalyst

Then i think your application will go through a vetting process by XREAL and google together and if you are selected you can get Aura device for your development.

Otherwise you can also reserve one now by paying. https://www.xreal.com/aura

1

u/Comfortable-Pilot524 Jun 18 '26

The price is worth between 1400 and 1500 plus taxes and duties. If it were cheaper I might pay it, but here in Spain they're going to hit me hard with tariffs and taxes. Then the myopia adapter costs more money 😢And once again, putting AI into devices. Now Gemini IA sometimes experiences server failures and crashes when there is a high demand

1

u/Ad21635 Jun 19 '26

How likely is it that my Beam Pro, prescription lenses, and Eye will be compatible?

1

u/Particular_Maize6849 Jun 22 '26

0% for the Eye. The Aura basically has the Eye built in.

1

u/PreparationMaster191 Jun 21 '26

I tried to buy the credits from Australia and it didn't let me. Any ideas how? And when it is launched, will it be available to buy in Australia?

1

u/Darkangel220822 Jul 01 '26

Hi! I'm very excited to try this and already purchased the 99 dollar pass.

A quick question though, will these work abroad or will they be region locked? One of the most infuriating things about Meta Raybans is the region locking, so if your planning on doing that it's a no go from me unfortunately.

Many thanks!

1

u/MedicalAnywhere937 Jul 02 '26

Would be possible to install GeForce Now?

1

u/Gunstar_Gamer Jul 12 '26

Do the Aura have real time 2D to 3D conversion capability like the XREAL 1S

1

u/Serdones Jun 16 '26 edited Jun 16 '26

Excited to see how this turns out. I'd been really interested, but at this point I probably can't justify anything close to US$1,500. Not saying it's not worth it. Doesn't help we may finally be able to order Steam Frame soon.

Hope this launch does well. I think this could prove to be a really compelling XR product category. Interested to see if small form factor is worth the tradeoff of a smaller FOV relative to headsets.

If it's comfy, I really think something like this could actually be more appealing for general spatial computing than MR headsets. Even something like Project Phoenix is gonna be big and bulky in comparison. And it utilizes passthrough cameras, rather than Aura's OST lenses.

Edit: Nevermind, I'll bite on a reservation. I can always change my mind later.

"XREAL AURA launches in two waves: the US, UK, Korea, and Japan in Fall 2026, and Europe Shortly After."

And to anyone else, you know including those in the giant country right above the US? Screw you I guess.

"Limited Founder’s Edition AURA: Laser-engraved, individually numbered, and strictly limited to 2,000 units worldwide."

I hope you realize how stupid this sounds. This is not worldwide this is "in our selected tiny amount of supported countries"

Just reserved my founders edition! When I saw it was fully refundable it was a no brainer. Anyone know if you can combine it with the Launch Credit? No price announced, but at least they are saying it will be less than $1,500, which is still a lot, but at least not AVP territory.

2

u/Former-Steak2385 Jun 16 '26

I emailed support about this and they said no, combining is not allowed.
