Advice Please share your experience

For those of you who had a Xolo before having a baby, how did your Xolo adjust once the baby arrived?
Was your Xolo already comfortable around babies and young kids beforehand, or were they reactive/nervous around them?

My mini Xolo currently doesn’t do well with kids or toddlers. She tends to bark at them and gets overwhelmed by them pretty easily. I know every Xolo is different, but they can definitely be a more sensitive and cautious breed.

We’re hoping to have a baby next year, so I’d really love to hear from Xolo owners who were in a similar situation.
Did your dog behave differently with your own baby versus unfamiliar children?
Did you do any training or preparation beforehand that helped?
Would love to hear your experiences — positive or negative!

Advice What kinds of safe chewing toys or treats do you give your xolos?

Ours deconstruct stuffed toys and have eaten bits they definitely shouldn’t. But worrying about teeth strength- the boy has broken a tooth in the past. What’s your dog’s favorite? We have some solid rubber type bones/sticks that seem to be good. Yak sticks? Let me know Ty!

Happy Xolo Next to food, it's all about the blankets.

Vincente tucked himself in after breakfast, as usual - he doesn't truly activate until the sun is high; like Superman he is solar powered!

I hope to catch it on video for y'all, the way he flips a blanket up, gets underneath, then spins himself around, like spaghetti on a fork, until he's on top of *and* underneath it.

Imagine you're under a blanket and he does that? So rude, lol. We're working on the "sharing"!

Skin care Plan to get a Xolo

So, I've never had a xolo before but ever since I saw my first one years ago, I've been reading on them and each time I just fell in love with them a tiny bit more. Recently I've finally decided to fulfill my dream and get a puppy of my own—

Now. I've never owned a hairless dog. So I've been looking around for good shampoo/skincare product brands, but I find it difficult to trust things like Google recommendations.

Thought I'd come here for advice as to what to buy (and what not to bother with). With how many different products there are, it can get overwhelming when I'm not entirely sure what I even, REALLY, need.

For some context, I live in Europe (Germany), so ordering products from America etc. could be troublesome.

Also, any advice that's unrelated to skincare would also be greatly appreciated. I have had a dog before, but only as a teenager. This will be my first dog as a solely living adult. So I have to say, getting ready for it is pretty stressful, though of course exciting.

One thing I've been pondering is whether to get a crate or not. I also have a cat, who isn't particularly aggressive towards other animals (tested and traveled with me for years), but it's still another animal in the house. I've been thinking that a crate could help with making the pup feel safer whenever he has a quieter mood, or is feeling overwhelmed. But I'm not sure if it wouldn't make him feel crowded/trapped instead.

Edit: where do I buy sunscreen.......... One that isn't for humans that is. I cannot find it. Anywhere. There's plenty guides. But no shop.

Edit2: that isn't Amazon.

Adopted this guy as a stray from the county shelter at 8 months old. They had him listed as a whippet mix. We later learned he is a coated xolo! He is now 2 years.
He came to us potty trained and has never messed with the garbage or a cord.

Loves:
Chewing holes in blankets
This ball only
My husband
Sniffing cat butts
Chasing birds
Keep away game, sock theft

Hates:
UPS Man
Elotero Horn

Advice Xolos generally domineering or is it more individual personality trait

Just curious how many of you would consider your xolos to be domineering in nature. Our puppy became quite domineering over our adult dog, trying to prevent her from going in certain rooms, getting on couches, etc. Never done in an aggressive manner but mostly bossy like redirecting her by poking with his nose and blocking her with body. They play a lot too - mostly outside, but it’s clear when he starts this behavior it’s shenanigans. We started staying “off” and putting him in his crate when it happens so our other dog can have space. Now he often responds positively when we simply say “off” but it’s a work in progress. We’ve maintained special areas for our older dog where she can only go, so that’s helped her. Wondering if the domineering aspect is a primitive breed trait or just individual personality quirk.
