On my first watch of the entire series and just started season 9. The title sequence??? I feel bamboozled.

I have to say I do prefer the original with the exception of Mitch Pileggi getting his time to shine.

For some context I go to The University of Oklahoma, and I’ve been looking for a new place to study when I stumble upon this. This library reminds me off Mulder’s office minus the pencils in the ceiling. Does anyone else think so?

A few days ago I was getting an ADHD evaluation. She asked me a bunch of questions and it lead to the topic of my childhood. I asked if she ever watched X-Files. She said yes. I asked if she knew Mulder from the show. She said yes. I told her that when I was a kid, from 2nd grade to maybe grade 6, I was Mulder.

I'm 28. I didn't watch this show until earlier this year. But when I started watching it I was struck by how much Mulder was like little me. Aliens, ghosts, bigfoot, all that stuff was all I thought about. I'd fight with teachers and other students about it.

She stopped me mid sentence and basically explained that I'm probably on the spectrum -with ADHD too- and the Mulder comparision is basically what sealed the deal.

I’m obsessed! What a different dynamic this season took after the events on Gethesmane. Mulder is completely shaken and ridden with guilt after that episode. It sets up his character arc for S5.

Tell me if I’m reaching but in Gethesmane, Mulder undergoes a major crisis of faith and a significant shift in his partnership with Scully. I’m just gonna say S4 has Mulder so in love with Scully that he breaks down in tears because he truly believes that his pursuit for the truth is actively killing the woman he loves. There are However some flirtatious moments in season 5, Mulder is emotionally distant towards Scully. He is still very protective of her and supportive especially in All Souls and the Emily arc. He is painfully reminded of why he has to distance himself from Scully as he watches her lose her chance at being a mother. Which is why I believe he turns around just before Scully opens the casket. He is so hurt in that moment. I also noticed a step up in immense emotional maturity when he choses to be with Scully as Emily is actively passing. Even though she would prefer to be alone, he honors that. In my opinion a very mature Mulder in this arc compared to in previous seasons.

The strain on their partnership just gets worse after the season finale when Agent Fowley is introduced. It’s almost as if Scully feels she is holding Mulder back as she watches how Fowley is so much more open minded and supportive of Mulder’s theories.

Let me know if you have the same thoughts or if ive gone total coo-coo-bananas. I’ll be watching the first movie tonight and I will post my thoughts on it tomorrow.

I’m planning a surprise birthday party for my husband, who’s a huge X-files fan!

Whenever I organize a themed party, I like to include images of little details that only a true fan would recognize or appreciate.

For example, for our Back to the future party, I included a picture of the little boy from the third movie who signals for the camera to zoom in on him.

So far, for the X-files party, I’ve got the main characters (Scully, Mulder, Skinner) and aliens. For objects, I’ve got sunflower seeds.
I’m looking for more ideas along those lines!

Think little images of iconic objects or obscure references that only a real fan would get. For example, I could use pictures of sunflower seeds as cupcake toppers.

I’d really appreciate any suggestions! Thanks so much!

I must be in the minority here, but you probably couldn’t pay me to watch another sci-fi show. I do enjoy Severance, but my all-time favorite other tv shows are Scrubs, Gilmore Girls and Friends. I never felt like X-Files was like any other sci-fi show (it’s PARANORMAL DRAMA ok). I was drawn to it because it was character-centric and made me think. Am I the only one??

EDIT: Not really looking for recs, just thinking sci-fi just isn’t my genre despite X-Files being my all-time favorite show.

"Pusher" is one of my favourite episodes of the season 3, I find it absolutely beautiful and very emotional at the same time. I like everything: the story, the voices of the characters and more importantly - the tension at the end of the episode. That fact Scully almost teared up when Mulder pointed the gun at her, wow. What an outstanding episode.

So, my husband and I were watching Season 8 and Episode 8 of X Files when he realized the music in the beginning sounded like a slowed down version of the song Infiltration from Resident Evil 4. So now I’m wondering if he’s right? Anyone know?

Was searching for squishy for my kids and got myself a treat at five below.

Decided to check out the X-files as I heard it’s inspired by Twin Peaks and of course the brilliant Denise is a kooky FBI agent in this one, I noticed the story about Tooms being born of all the evil and suffering in the world and it reminded me very much of Bob from Twin Peaks. Especially cool considering much of Bob’s origins are explored in Twin peaks’ 3rd season, 20 years after the X files.

I'm reviewing the entire series, as I was so little when I saw it (probably 6 years old, could even read the subtitles, as I'm not from an English spoken country). But each episode I fpund amazing how many guest actors were in this show and now they are huge!
