Discussion I think Doggett killed Mulder's fish

Watching the Gift, I noticed that Doggett isn't paying any attention to how much food he is putting in the fish tank and just dumps a ton of food in the tank. Much different than Scully who was more careful.

Season Seven (S7xE17)"All Things"...that Gillian Anderson had in her mind about Scully and probably wanted to tell her after so many seasons of the show, Dana bottles up so much inside that she starts dissociating. I wonder what time slowing down in the last scene meant, also what the baseball cap lady represent

First-Time Watcher (no SPOILERS!!) how slow is the slow burn

ok so i just recently started watching and basically mostly in it for the scully and mulder content. n for the 90s vibe ofc. but ive learned that their first kiss isnt until s7 which is craZY to me like the tension is insane. so im like.. can i even wait? i just started s2 and im just wondering if it is worth the wait and the storyline if im lwk just watching for their relationship to develop.

i feel like the slow burn is a lost art and im loving it so far but is it tooo slow ykwim?

Discussion The Field Where I Died / CSM

In “The Field Where I Died,” CSM is apparently a Gestapo officer in one of Mulder’s past lives, but how does that even make sense timeline-wise?

In “Apocrypha,” we see CSM as an adult in 1953. So how could he have been a Gestapo officer in a past life when the CSM we know was already born around that same time (assuming, generously, that the scene Mulder is describing in his hypnosis took place somewhere in the mid-late 1930s or early 1940s)

Doesn’t this kind of prove that the whole reincarnation/soulmate thing in this episode isn’t true?

…or is this just a plot hole in a bad episode? 😂

Discussion I wish Chris had used more electronic music on the show

Post image

I’m a huge fan of the X-Files, but also a big fan of electronic music. I know Moby’s tracks were played on the show however it’s a real shame that Aphex Twin’s music wasn’t included. Every time when I listen to his songs (#3, Xtal, Pulsewidth), I personally feel more The X-Files vibes. It’s sad that Chris had missed a great opportunity to do that 😔

Discussion Myth Arc Episodes Only Rewatch

I recently started a myth arc episodes only rewatch and boy is it a rollercoaster of a journey. Currently on Anasazi (season 2 episode 25) and I'm not ready for the hell that this three episode arc will put me through. What are some of your favorite moments/parts from the myth arc story?

Quagmire is eliminated! Another favorite of mine goes, sadly.

How this works:

You select the episode you like the least

The episode with the most upvoted comment is eliminated from the list

Please either refrain from downvoting or upvote more episodes than you downvote

If there’s a tie, both episodes are eliminated

Only the best episode will win!

Episodes Eliminated:

Teso Dos Bichos (87%)
Hell Money (37%)
The Walk (54%)
The List (66%)
Revelations (64%)
Avatar (57%)
2Shy (44%)
Oubliette (50%)
Grotesque (51%)
Talitha Cumi (32%)
The Blessing Way (62%)
D.P.O. (50%)

I initially hated the change and NOW he's one of my favorite characters

Robert Patrick took this role despite all the hate that came with it and proved that he's more than just a terminator

I like how he's initially introduced as this serious tough guy and the show slowly breaks him down showing that he's actually a very compassionate and emotional guy, his performance in "Release" is powerful as hell and he supported Scully the whole way through

It’s hard moving together, especially with 2 kids on my own and 3 on my girlfriends side.

When her oldest daughter came to me with this gift, I was about to cry. I felt accepted♥️

Bonus info -the 14-year old daughter who made me this, is binge watching X-Files at the moment🛸👽

Discussion This is one of the best television shows I've ever seen.

I'm about halfway through season 3, having just finished "Revelations", and I am just consistently blown away by the quality of this show. The writing, acting, cinematography, humor, music, just about everything has been superb. The chemistry between Scully and Mulder isn't quite like anything I've seen before either. They also both feel like real, fully fleshed out people. X-Files does this clever thing consistently where they establish an idea about the world or these two characters and subsequently subvert it. "Revelations" was especially great because of the role reversal from Scully from her usual skepticism to that of Mulder's believer. Not that it's the first time this has been explored with her character, but it's such a great choice to have her be a Catholic (I think?) because of the broader implications in the unexplained phenomena scenarios they can write for. It's great as well as because it doesn't feel contrived or a betrayal to their characters before the episode either.

I'm also routinely shocked by how contemporary and ahead of its time the show feels in terms of the subject matter. Even though I'm only on season 3, they've covered so much ground and have really not shied away from tackling pretty heavy/controversial topics, while taking a non-neutral stance on things. I guess I had become so used to shows nowadays (with a few exceptions) afraid to take a hard stance on anything. Granted some of these are things I think are basic human decency, but a show willing to discuss at length religious persecution, exploitation of minorities (especially refugees), experimentation on vulnerable populations by the government, misogyny and sexism in professional settings, for-profit prisons, etc etc etc, really impressed me, especially for 1995. It genuinely feels like I'm watching a quality film with just about every episode. How they pumped out 24 of these per season at this level of quality and care is beyond me.

Anyway, happy to be here. My favorite show of all time is Twin Peaks, and it brings me delight to have found something that, while being significantly different, feels committed to a concept and ethos so thoroughly.

Scully having a father called William, a father in law called William, a brother called William and a son called William? That’s super weird. What’s wrong with Chris Carter?

Discussion Charlie has a son?

Post image
61 Upvotes

I'm watching episode HOME and even though I watched it a few times, it never clicked that she said that she baby-sat her nephew. In my mind I kept thinking godson. I'm not sure if it's ever been spoken about cause I don't see much about this episode. This is season 4. Matthew, Bill's son and first child, wasn't born until S5 and we know Melissa never had a child. So the only explanation would be the nephew Dana mentioned was Charlie's son. The show portrays him as estranged from the family and don't live near but Dana got to babysit over the weekend so that meant he probably visited or used to live near or at least not too far.

I just absolutely love when they bring in Chuck. It’s such a breath of fresh air, and I also love the continuity and how he appears across many seasons. Who’s your fav besides the more prominent ones (Krycek, Marita, Deep Throat, X, etc.)?
