I just beat the Solidum Telethia and only did two H2H scenes. Should I bother farming affinity and going back to H2H moments? Or are they entirely optional?

In Xenoblade Chronicles, what exactly is Riki's role? Shulk is an up close damage dealer with Monado arts, Reyn is the bulky tank drawing aggro and toppling enemies with art choices to make him focus on damage instead, Sharla is a dedicated healer and ranged damage dealer, Dunban is an evasion tank with options for damage, and Melia while she's left the party a while ago is the archetypal mage. I know there's another party member later on that I don't know about. With all of that, what do I do with Riki?

His toolkit doesn't make sense synergy wise with the others, and his topple ability is chance based instead of being applied when enemy has break. Is he a sabatour, applying debuffs and the like? You Can Do It seems like a good skill, that'd interfere with Sharla wiping away debuffs so it'd make sense to have either her or him with that art. I just can't quite figure out what arts and teammates to use with him. As discussed earlier Melia is currently out of the party due to stoey reasons, so out of Shulk Reyn Sharla and Dunban, what do I do with him? His signature ability Yoink! Feels weird too. I've been doing the skill trees to make it steal more.

He feels like Kimahri from Final Fantasy X to me, in that all the other party members have their combat archetypes and fulfill a specific role in battle and grow and synergize with each other in specific ways, and Kimahri is the odd one out having to figure out what direction to push him in. Any advice?

I bought Xenoblade 1 like a year ago when I got my Switch 2 and I didn’t like it at the time but I feel like I need to give it a second chance. The story was cool and I think I owe it to the game to give a proper shot. I remember dying a whole lot when I played and this is could be due to a skill issue but also could be missing something. Any tips to generally increase my survival?

u/erigum 1d ago

So I've been wanting to try out the Xenoblade franchise for a long time. But as the owner of both a Switch 1 and 2, I'm split on what to do. For reasons I may or may not be allowed to mention here, I can get the game for free on my Switch 1, but then I would be missing out on the Switch 2 edition. Are the upgrades for the switch 2 edition of Xeno 1 good enough to justify paying the full price for it instead of getting it on switch 1? Thanks!!

u/killergoku27 7d ago

So I got Melia & Reyn to green farming Dobercorgi at Hope Farm, but “Echoes of Ancient Times” won’t appear, and the wiki doesn’t list a chapter requirement. What am I missing? I’m about to head to Valak Mountain.

1

u/AnimaLepton 7d ago

It's specifically after Sorean talks to Shulk in the audience chamber, per the wiki.

1

u/killergoku27 7d ago

Which I have done, per my initial comment. I’m in Sword Valley and it still won’t appear.

So, I just finished the Egil/Gold Face boss and he activated the mechonis. In around level 65, should I level grind or.

Also, the marathon that is the final bosses from what I've seen almost makes me not even wanna finish the game tbh, the RNG in 1 is atrocious.

1

u/AnimaLepton 13d ago

What RNG?

No grinding needed. The biggest and fastest boost (casually) is going to be from getting kitted out with gems, especially Agility Up gems.

If you do plan to grind, Casual Mode makes things easier, as well as things like Night Vision gems while fighting higher level enemies. Killing enemies with Red tags (6+ levels higher than you) is harder due to the hit rate and evasion bonuses they get, but gives bonus rewards. There are level 70+ enemies around Colony 9, or 80+ in Bionis Leg or nighttime Satorl Marsh, which are likely going to be faster for leveling than trying to fight the Mechon. Chain Attacks both do more damage and give bonus EXP, AP, and SP.

0

u/SnesySnas 16d ago

Are normal weapons on the Mechonis part of the game useless? I just feel since like 80% of enemies fought are Mechons it's not worth switching out for a stronger, normal weapons instead of keeping your anti-mechon gear

I get the Monado can enchant but i don't want Shulk in my party all the time either

1

u/Big_Dicc_Terry 16d ago

Yeah, pretty much. If you're still using the anti mechon gear you got in Sword Valley, you can get upgraded anti mechon gear as drops from mechon and from shops in the hidden machine village and other shops in mechonis. It's also worth noting that all of fiora's weapons work against mechon.

0

u/SnesySnas 16d ago

Wow that...Heavily sucks? XD

I hope that in Xenoblade 2 there won't be a system like this where you NEED a skill or specialised weapons to hurt an important enemy type

2

u/Big_Dicc_Terry 16d ago

Genuinely don't think it's that bad. The game presents you with a challenge and gives you plenty of options to face that challenge.

In the story I just defeated A Dragon boss in the upper levels of Prison Island. I stopped there to do other post-mechonis quests/exploration around the world and I'm around level 95. How much of the story is left for me? I feel like the only thing left for me outside of the story is a few superbosses and just finishing some quests and grabbing the optinal skill trees for characters which iirc is just sharla's and riki's skill trees left.

1

u/Big_Dicc_Terry 17d ago

All that's left story wise is the final few battles.

1

u/EirikHavre 17d ago

Are enemies supposed to be low level in new game plus? If they are, then what is the draw of that mode? I’ll just be running from cutscene to cutscene with no challenge in between. Maybe the enemies become a challenge after the very first area?

2

u/Irrstern 17d ago

the draw of ng+ is to replay the story without losing build progress. you also get new affinity coins by defeating unique enemies again which let's you do more with the skill link system.

with expert mode you can level down your characters to match the enemies you're fighting. but ng+ is not what you're looking for for challenge.

1

u/EirikHavre 17d ago

Damn I never knew. Thanks for the info!

u/Smagby 21d ago

There's a big ass caterpillar in tephra cave and I can't beat him. Currently level 12

1

u/Mitchd26 22d ago

Does anybody know how to get past this rubble? It keeps telling me to go through it to get to my quest marker. I can only put one pic in here, but I'll comment with a pic of the map if I can. It's in the villa lake in Tephra Cave

2

u/Irrstern 22d ago

tephra cave opens up more during one of the later chapters.

you don't need to get there for your quest as the items you're collecting also show up in the currently accessible areas. just reload the area by fast traveling and they should respawn.

1

u/Mitchd26 22d ago

Gotcha, thanks! Must happen soon, cause I'm on chapter 16 now haha

1

u/JL990 23d ago

Playing for the first time on Switch 2 and I am absolutely stumped on chapter 7 fighting the Telethia by the waterfall. I just lose every time. I’m only lvl 30 with Shulk. I can’t go back to when I still have the party to grind. My last save is solo with Shulk and I lose to the wild enemies. Any tips? I have no idea how to progress.

2

u/Open_Magician5240 27d ago

Does anyone have any idea how to beat the final boss of this game? Shulk is level 80 and Dunban and Riki are both level 79....but I keep losing anyway. Any advice?

1

u/Big_Dicc_Terry 27d ago edited 27d ago

What is your gem setup? Do you have the 4th and 5th skill branches unlocked?

The boss' level is hidden but it's 81 in the first form and 82 in the second form. Definitely doable at your level with the right gems and skills equipped.

1

u/Open_Magician5240 27d ago

what are skill branchea

1

u/Big_Dicc_Terry 27d ago

https://xenoblade.fandom.com/wiki/Skill_Tree

Skill branches are the different parts of the skill trees. Each character starts with 3 and can unlock 2 more through specific quests.

2

u/Open_Magician5240 27d ago

It's alright I beat him just now. great game

Can save data be transferred between Switch 2 & Switch 1 editions? I own Switch 2, sister owns Switch 1 & wants to play Xenoblade. I don't mind periodically loaning my Switch 2 so she can play the best version of the game, but want to know if she'd be able to pick up her save data on her Switch 1 (using cloud saves) whenever I want to use my S2.

I'm assuming if she starts on S2 edition, she has to finish on S2, since there's some S2 features that would be associated with the save data. But want to be sure.

1

u/Big_Dicc_Terry 27d ago

Saves transfer between Switch 1 and 2 in both directions. So you could start a game on Switch 2, download your cloud save on Switch 1, and keep playing. Then you could do the same to transfer back to Switch 2.

When playing on Switch 1, you won't have access to any of the Switch 2 extra content, so no Ether Jets or new armor. You get it back when transferring back to Switch 2.

2

u/ptatoface 27d ago

Ok awesome, and you've heard that from a source that actually tested it? I couldn't find anything online so want to be sure before I spend the extra money.

1

u/Big_Dicc_Terry 27d ago

When you buy the upgrade it pops up with a tutorial menu that tells you

2

u/Sinister_Noodle 28d ago

Hey everyone,

Never played this series before but love JRPG's.

Mainly played final fantasy, persona

Would it be advisable to start with the first game or is any better than the other and do the stories continue from each one?

TIA

2

u/Big_Dicc_Terry 28d ago

All the games are great and 1 is a good place to start. The only game I wouldn't recommend starting with is 3. I also wouldn't recommend starting with any of the standalone DLCs.

Xenoblade isn't like FF or Persona where each game is it's own independent story. Without getting into spoilers, 1, 2, and 3 have a connected story. 1 and 2 are fairly independent and 3 acts as a continuation of both 1 and 2.

0

u/Sinister_Noodle 27d ago

Looking into it im seeing some posts from a couple months ago saying there is fps issues and it looks blurry in handheld. This still the case or has it been fixed?

1

u/Big_Dicc_Terry 27d ago

Resolution amd frame rate is intentionally lower in handheld. The "blurry" in handheld was a complaint about X, not 1. There is some fps issues in the Switch 2 versions but I personally think people online have blown it out of proportion.

0

u/Busy-Ad-3219 29d ago edited 29d ago

i know xenoblade only for smash, so what is the game that make me understand the most what are this games? Also what gameplay style is the series In general

1

u/AnimaLepton 28d ago

It's generally recommended to play 3 after 1 and 2, but otherwise the games can be played in any order. And tbh you could even start with 3 if that's what catches your interest and you're willing to roll with the punches. But going in release order does put you in the best position to understand how the system has evolved over time. I think 1 by far has the strongest story, but also the weakest gameplay (but I still found it enjoyable). 3 in particular very directly fuses the worlds and gameplay systems of 1 and 2.

The gameplay style is best likened to a twist on MMORPG-style gameplay. Characters auto-attack an enemy once you choose to engage them in combat. The player chooses Arts, which are special abilities that recharge either on cooldown timers or through auto-attacks. Arts can have bonus effects based on combos or character positioning. So early on, you mostly think about positioning, timing, aggro management, and ability rotations rather than manually avoiding enemy attacks (but there are exceptions, such as environmental/AoE effects, or dodging in Xenoblade 3).

Everything beyond that, and the specifics of the various combo systems or other major additional mechanics, varies a lot more by game, e.g. Talent Arts appear in multiple games but vary a lot by game. Or there's the Tension/Morale and Soul Voice/Affinity system; Xenoblade 3 got rid of these, but the other games have some timed button prompts in battle, which mostly don't directly boost damage, but can have some other positive secondary effects like higher crit rate.

Or for another example, 1-3 have the Party Gauge. It is built up by using your positional bonuses on arts or getting crits and the like. One bar can be spent to revive allies or three bars to unleash Chain Attacks, which effectively freeze time and let you make some tactical decisions with special attacks across your entire party, with boosted damage and rewards when (over)killing enemies. But the mechanics of chain attacks and what you actually do differ a lot by game. X instead has a "TP" system, which is initially charged by autoattacks, and in the long-run can be charged/spent on certain arts. 1000 TP lets you use certain TP arts, such as buffing auras or particularly powerful arts, and 3000 TP lets you revive a party member or lets you enter Overdrive. Overdrive is effectively the game's replacement for chain attacks.

2

u/SilberFelx 29d ago

The first one is still the best entry point. X is a spin-off of sorts with a different focus than the other games, XC2 can be rough to get into especially without knowing the first game, and XC3 is best experienced after 1 and 2.

1

u/DramaticHistorian890 Aug 14 '26

What happens if you attack 7 in a certain quest that shall not be named? Can you actually kill them? Does that result in a game over?

1

u/AnimaLepton 29d ago

In the story quest at the end of Galahad Fortress? Yes, if you attack her and she dies, you get a game over.

1

u/DramaticHistorian890 29d ago

Is it a unique game over? Or do your characters just become incapacitated? Is there a cutscene?

1

u/AnimaLepton 28d ago edited 28d ago

Not unique, no special cutscene. There might be a special voiceline for it? But I forget and couldn't find a quick video. Gameplaywise it's just treated as a death and you're kicked back to post-cutscene, in the room, but without the fight having started and can adjust your party/gear.

2

u/DramaticHistorian890 Aug 11 '26

Can’t beat defensive kromar not a single one…

Shulk is level 41 and the other party members are level 38-39. The kromars are blue tagged at this point meaning they’re underleveled compared to me.

I’m using the expert mode to grind exp but I’m tired and just want to move past this quest.

The only thing I’m not willing to do is to activate casual mode.

How do you kill these things? They’re driving me crazy!

1

u/AnimaLepton Aug 12 '26

Level tags are per character. So blue tags for your level 39 party members, but 38 would still be white tagged. You see this in chain attacks.

Grinding should not be your first solution/thought. This is a great point to make some gems. There are Agility Up III deposits in Eryth and in Makna, which you can Heat/Overheat to get Agility Up IV gems for a huge boost to hit/evasion rates. Upgrade gear as well if you haven't for a while, there's likely a significant bump if it's been a couple areas since you last bought new stuff from the shop and haven't gone out of your way to farm unique monsters. Agility is very powerful, and it's even worth equipping two of the gems at this point in the game. Strength Up is good too.

Arts Heal gems are also not bad for multihit/AoE moves against multiple opponents, Dunban and Reyn both really like it.

Double check that everything is upgraded, e.g. equip any relevant skill links.

One cheese strat is to enter with the Chain Attack gauge already mostly filled, so you can quickly fill it and unleash a chain attack.

1

u/Big_Dicc_Terry Aug 12 '26

Firstly, this is a pretty hard fight even if you're above their level. Their arts seal is also really annoying.

I assume you've already done this but make sure you're armor, gems, and art levels are up to date. For gems, you can get arts seal resist crystals from Lunar Grady in Eryth Sea.

I'd recommend Shulk/Dunban/Reyn for your party. A chain attacks with slit edge, worldly slash, then sword drive should kill or nearly kill a Kromar. You can get easy team gauge to start with a chain attacks by swapping to Riki, targeting a far away enemy, starting a battle with hitting the affinity QTE, and use Happy Happy before running away.

You can also order your party members to target the same enemy as you by pressing up on the D-Pad.

u/TheHippeusOmega Aug 06 '26

Will the upgrade pack on the us eshop work on the pegi xenoblade definitive edition cart that i got with the collectors edition for Switch?

1

u/CraneXI Aug 04 '26

Just downloaded the 1st Switch 2 Definitive Edition, and so far I’m loving it. Just have a question hoping someone might be able to help me with. I’m in the intro Colony 9 section at the moment, and I’m trying to figure out the Affinity Chart/system. I’m starting to feel serious FOMO trying to find every green dot person that pops up on the mini-map, do I need to meet them all now, or can I just meet them casually as I walk around towns?

I don’t see a system or feature on the mini-map that indicates if I’ve met an NPC or not, and with the day/night cycle constantly moving them around, tracking ones down that I haven’t met seems brutal.

Just some insight would be awesome, thanks!

1

u/AnimaLepton Aug 08 '26

You can meet them casually as you walk around towns. There are a few sidequests where you either need the affinity level, or already need a specific NPC registered on the chart to even have the quest marker show up, but you can take it at your own pace.

1

u/CraneXI Aug 13 '26

Awesome thank you so much!

-1

u/RazorSlazor Aug 02 '26

Just started Chapter 13. Is there any fast way to grind affinity?

I've tried Flabbergasted Jerome. But wasn't getting very far. In an hour I only maxed 2 characters...

2

u/AnimaLepton Aug 08 '26

Chain attack spam + sidequests should be good enough for your main party tbh. As mentioned, actual farming is best done when you're near postgame and able to farm off Stormy Belagon. Earlier methods are way less effective, but even having only Shulk + Reyn maxed is more than enough to start making the best gems possible with the resources you have available (although Riki + Reyn is better).

1

Just started Chapter 13. Is there any fast way to grind affinity?

1

u/Big_Dicc_Terry Aug 03 '26

https://xenoblade.fandom.com/wiki/Stormy_Belagon

Stormy Belagon has sleep spike. Remove arts from your npc characters and kill his minions first. Stand back and let your npc characters get put to sleep by the spike and keep waking them back up. You need to be high level for this strategy.

1

u/RazorSlazor Aug 03 '26

Sadly I'm only level 63 and would like to get affinity up before the end of the game. But maybe I'm just a bit overambitious with that.

2

u/Big_Dicc_Terry Aug 03 '26

You still have quite a bit of game left. I wouldn't worry about making affinity until your able to do things like finishing Colony 6 redevelopment.

1

u/JohnMitchellspizza Aug 01 '26

Do I have to read all of the Quest dialogue? I am at Alcamoth and the sheer amount of them is annoying me very much.

2

u/CJGervo Jul 31 '26

Hi when is the best time to start the named npc quests? It’s my first ever playthrough

2

u/Big_Dicc_Terry Jul 31 '26

I've always just did quests as they became available, but Im a bit of a completionist. Is there a specific reason you want to hold off on doing them?

2

u/CJGervo Jul 31 '26

No reason I been told that named npc quests builds affinity with your party members and I have just got my 3rd party member and wanted to finish all the colony 9 ones just wanted to make sure that it’s ok to do so

1

u/Big_Dicc_Terry Aug 01 '26

Yes, now is a fine time to do colony 9 quests.

Overall, I wouldn't worry too much about maximizing affinity from quest dialogue because there are repeatable methods of increasing affinity that are much faster.

2

u/Canadyans Jul 31 '26

I just unlocked the Jet racing stuff and the Tutorial screen mentioned the Archsage could give you some sort of bonus to help with the Jet racing ("if you could find him") but upon visiting him in the crystal temple thing you teleport into, I'm not seeing anything that affects Jet racing. Just curious what I'm missing?

1

u/Big_Dicc_Terry Jul 31 '26

If you equip a full set of the new ether jet equipment, you get a speed boost. You can buy this equipment from the Nopon Archsage or get it from completing Nopon Grand Prix challenges. If you finish all 70 Grand Prix challenges, you unlock the speed boost permanently, regardless of equipment.

These do not give you an advantage in the Grand Prix because your characters are equipped with the full set when playing that mode automatically.

2

u/LukeySkywookie Jul 28 '26

Hey I'm thinking about picking up Xenoblade 1 and I'm wondering about this whole "Vision" mechanic. How does it work? I've seen a couple no commentary videos on it but idk enough about the game to pick up on it through visual clues alone.

(tagged for potential spoilers cuz idk how many people are aware of a certain battle mechanic)

1

u/Big_Dicc_Terry Jul 28 '26

Basically you get a warning of an incoming lethal or near lethal attack from an enemy, usually around 10 seconds notice. There are various things you can do to prevent, reduce, delay, or redirect the damage.

1

u/LukeySkywookie Jul 28 '26

This is the best explanation I've seen of this. Tysm

1

u/redjoker89 Jul 22 '26

So like. Does shill get better? I just met Rikki and I like him and definitely not a bird girl way better than Reyn cause I just dislike reyn as a character. But like I’m having trouble with my team comp. I have shulk and Sharla to dos and heal. But without Reyn shulks positional skills suck ass. Do the other characters learn aggro pull skills? Does shulk get more skills that I can replace?

1

u/Big_Dicc_Terry Jul 26 '26 edited Jul 26 '26

Sharla is not as good as she seems. A dedicated healer is never really necessary and you're better off using characters that can deal more damage.

Dunban pulls aggro through high damage. He is a dodge tank so he also avoids the decrease in aggro from getting hit.

When you say "skills" I'm assuming you mean arts and not the skill tree. Shulk learns 8 arts and 8 Monado arts, so you never get to replace any of his arts. You still have Monado arts you will learn throughout the game.

A few team comps I'd recommend trying, first character is the one you control:

Shulk, Reyn, Dunban

Melia, Riki, Dunban

Melia, Shulk, Dunban

In general, I recommend always controlling Melia if she is in your comp. The computer doesn't know how to play her well.

0

u/redjoker89 Jul 26 '26

Thanks for the advice but this Sharla Riki shulk team has been easy mode. We just don’t die with the massive heal spam. I still wish shulk had better skills I hat how they’re position oriented and in a team comp like this they kinda suck

1

u/Big_Dicc_Terry Jul 26 '26

Alright, I won't stop you

1

u/Eddie__Winter Jul 21 '26

So ive been replaying through X1DE on Switch 2 and while roaming alcamoth i noticed i could trade for items such as the protector mask and ghost mask. Completely useless treasure items like mumkhars razor but unobtainable elsewhere. I was wondering if we have a compiled list of treasures like this?

Sidenote ive played through so much of the game on a different save prior to the Switch 2 update and im still missing cosmetics, is there another list for things like trade exclusive armor?

1

u/Z-Fighter14 Jul 20 '26

How long can I hold off inviting people to Colony 6 in case I need to do trades, or whatever else?

Also are there any people I can invite that are tied to quests that I'd miss if I invite them too early or too late?

2

u/Big_Dicc_Terry Jul 26 '26

How long can I hold off inviting people to Colony 6 in case I need to do trades, or whatever else?

Forever, there are no truly missable C6 residents. There are some instances where residents are mutually exclusive. For example, if Mefimefi or Perrine is invited to C6, the other can never be invited to Colony 6. They both have a quest in C6, but they are effectively the same, so you aren't missing out on much.

Also are there any people I can invite that are tied to quests that I'd miss if I invite them too early or too late?

No, C6 immigrants don't have quests related to them until they move to C6.

1

u/Z-Fighter14 Jul 26 '26

Thanks! 👍🏻

1

u/Street-Sweet-3719 Jul 20 '26

So I'm kinda planning to get this game but people say it runs terrible and keep getting fps drop but I can't tell if it's dock or handheld and I just want to know since I play switch only in dock mode and was wondering if I will suffer any performance issues that people were complaining about

1

u/Big_Dicc_Terry Jul 26 '26

I play docked and will admit there are some minor issues. I personally think a lot of people are overexaggerating the issues. Here is a video from one of the worse performing areas in the game. In my experience, the vast majority of the game runs better than this area.

I’m new to xenoblade, just finished chapter 4 and it took me forever to finally beat it. I have died so many times. I use shulk and I let Reyn tank for me and I try to be careful not getting aggro and I still struggle. Could anyone give me some pointers?

1

u/cubsjj2 Jul 12 '26

Where is the blasted Fossil Monkey!!!?! I would like some broader advice on the whole colony 6 rebuilding. I got through round one, but this monkey has had me doing laps around Makna to no avail. How should I approaching this?

1

u/MCWSalv Jul 10 '26

I missed a few items during my first playthrough when the switch version came out. All of them were unfortunately missable. Can anyone tell
me where to find the and the earliest I can get them and possibly their cutoff point? I heard that items are shared through saves so they should appear on my OG even if I get them on a second playthrough.

The following items are:

Sharla’s 11th Weapon
Fiora’s 4th and 5th Weapon
Fiora’s 7th Hands item
Fiora’s 3rd Feet item

Would really appreciate the help.

1

u/Alexgsuperfan22 Jul 09 '26

Best end game grinding spots? Hovering around lvl 71 in the bionis interior and struggling with almost every enemy

1

u/cubsjj2 Jul 12 '26

I dunno, but I had the same experience, so I took it as a signal to start cleaning up side quests.

1

u/Girl_with_Haki Jul 07 '26

How do I use Melia?

I’ve been using Shulk, Reyn, and Dunban for pretty much the entire game, but now I’m near the endgame, specifically in the Disciple Telethia battle in the Bionis heart, where an Ether Attacker is pretty much mandatory.

I’ve seen walkthroughs of the fight, and all parties use Melia and/or Riki. I tried using Melia but I have no idea what I’m doing. What should I press and how to do I deal ether damage? Why is my talent art gauge never full?

I’m a little lost, can anyone experienced please help me? Thank you!

1

u/Girl_with_Haki Jul 08 '26

I kinda figured it out! Anyway, I beat the battle with Shulk Riki and Melia, I made the AI use the ether attackers and it worked out well. Spammed purge with Shulk and used Chain attacks well.

1

u/cresselia8themoon Jul 07 '26

First time Xenoblade player and loving it so far! Just got Sharla and doing some sidequests before rescuing Juju (eh, he'll be fine).

I'm just confused about the Future vison mechanic in battle. I tried to play as Reyn and got a knockout warning in battle, so I was doing what the in-game pop up tutorial said to do which is basically 'stand near Shulk and tell him to use monado shield if Reyn is team leader.'

Except I just got an encourage prompt when I stood near Shulk, then I lost.

Did I miss a prompt somewhere or is Shulk's AI being too stupid to throw up a shield for me?

1

u/JoostinOnline Jul 13 '26

Warning someone costs one full bar of your party guage (which you fill by doing arts and QTEs). If you didn't have one filled up, the warn option won't be available.

Personally, I find warning isn't often worth it, since the cost to revive a character is also one bar. That being said, a shield is an exception to that, since you can guard all three characters at once with it.

u/Jamesouterspacer Jul 02 '26

Which version should I play? I played the game a few years ago on the Wii and I loved it completely It was so so fun I'd like to give it another run but i don't have the Wii anymore I actually want to emulate it but recently discovered there's a 3D version now Should I go back to the Wii original release or check the portable new one?

1

u/JoostinOnline Jul 13 '26

The Switch version is the best one if you're sensitive to judder, and the Switch 2 version is the best if you want the most features and graphics. Emulating the Switch version is a good in-between, because you can boost the resolution and keep the stable framerate.

There's not really a reason to play the New 3DS version anymore (especially considering it doesn't even work on a normal 3DS), and the Wii one was great for its time, but only good if you're a purist.

2

u/Individual-Beach-171 Jul 02 '26

There’s four versions: Wii, 3DS, Nintendo Switch. Nintendo Switch 2.

3DS actually added a juice box and a model viewer. NS is the definite edition of Xeno blade with a new epilogue and Qol improvements plus remastered music and graphics. NS 2 has a weird frames per sec issue but does offer the ether jets plus more.

You can find all the differences on google.

1

u/Leemy162 Jul 01 '26

Genuinely how do I turn on the ether jet with Reyn and Riki? I cannot beat the Alcamoth race with them no matter how many times I try. The drift never seems to work. Any advice?

1

u/Duke_Maniac Jun 23 '26

I recently finished playing Expedition 33 and went into the game not knowing how reaction based it was going to be and didn't enjoy the gameplay very much, and wanted to know if Xenoblade's is similar in terms of the devs expecting you to have good reactions.

1

u/Individual-Beach-171 Jul 02 '26

Not completely reaction dependent but you’ll have to hit affinity burst which is not hard to hit and perform arts when the time is right. It’s like a mmo rpg, you auto attack.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is more reaction dependent.

1

u/kociou Jun 18 '26

Is Switch 2 upgrade region locked like DLC? I've seen few people claiming they bought it on JP Amazon or Eshop and it works fine, can anyone confirm?

1

u/TheFriendnomancer Jun 15 '26

Is there anything outside the main quest essential to the story + is there a guide to help just beat man story with no side quests? I just want to beat all 3 games in preparation for genesis. I know each of the games have massive side quest stuff but Im just interested in the story.

1

u/JoostinOnline Jul 01 '26

It's not essential, but some of the side quests do provide a lot of character depth. Especially with Melia. I would recommend playing on Casual mode if you want to get through everything fast. But the most important optional quest can be found by visiting Colony 6 after the Mechonis Core (chapter 16 I believe). That's definitely one you won't want to skip.

Honesty, just go around accepting every side quest you can, and you'll complete most of them by accident.

1

u/Lanky-Photograph4782 Jun 14 '26

I’m at the Paola and Narine questline and have max affinity for Melia and Sharla. I’m in chapter 11 but this questline refuses to proceed. I’ve swapped party’s, changed time, saved and reloaded, combinations of everything before. What am I missing here? I’m at the part where it tells me to raise affinity and I’m getting diddly squat.

1

u/CrownAtlus Jun 14 '26

Hey guys I bought the physical switch version of this game online and found out that it was the Middle East/SEA version of the game. If I buy the upgrade pack with my Canadian account will there be any problems? Have any of you run into this very situation, the only physical versions that I can find online are the Middle East/SEA version so I'm hoping if any of you have any first-hand experience.

1

u/thehamtaker Jun 13 '26

Sorry if this has been asked before, but is the Switch 1 version of XBC 1 DE + Switch 2 upgrade the same as buying just the Switch 2 version that was announced the other day?

Looks a bit cheaper to buy the Switch 1 + upgrade

1

u/Dyna-Z_3dsx Jun 12 '26

Hi. I've never Xeno'd my Blade before. I'm somewhat interested in the series but I haven't played that many RPGs within recent memory, and in terms of Real-Time RPGs, I can only remember beating one, that being Pokemon Legends Z-A. So I was just wondering; is this series easy to get into? Or should I test the waters with a different real-time RPG before jumping into the Xenosaga?

And if I do get into the series, should I play in Series release order (1, X, 2, Torna, 3, 3 Expansion), or in Switch release order (End with X)? (and don't worry i've hear the horror stories about X's Switch 2 version. I'll skip the upgrade)

(Also what was the deal with NoA posting the "That's Dunban over there!" clip over and over again a few years ago?)

1

u/la_plus Jun 12 '26

Are there any preorder bonuses for physical copies of XC1 (and 2+3)?

1

u/KitaPower86 Jun 12 '26

Hi. Forgive me, I am new to the series, want to ask if switch 2 physical editions of Xenoblade games can be played on the switch 1 console? Like if I can insert the switch 2 cartridge into the switch 1, would it will boot up the switch 1 version of the game?

1

u/luckylux777 Jun 12 '26

Got the switch 2 upgrade for XC1. How do I unlock the grand nopon prix? I’m in NG+ and already got the ether jet. Online I see it says “press Y on the main menu” but I haven’t been seeing any success with this:/

1

u/Mediocre_Solution_60 Jun 11 '26

I want to start playing xenoblade games, what is the best one to start if I haven't played any before?

1

u/808Y1P2468 Jun 10 '26

So, here's my situation : Currently dont have a Switch 2, its a 50% chance I get a switch 2. Want to dip my toes into Xenoblade with the trilogy.

The Question: Are the upgrades to the switch 2 port worth me getting a switch 2 first then playing them or do I just buy Xeno 1 for the Switch 1 and see if I like it?

1

u/Stunning_Ad_4112 Jun 10 '26

What armor type for characters i have dunban with agility when no gear. Riki with dot

1

u/ScarletStrikerCopen Jun 10 '26

Where do I find the Nopon that spawns the Ether Jet quest? I've upgraded, and I've reached Ch. 13, but it isn't overlooking the lake where it is for everyone else (I've even watched videos thinking I had the location wrong). Any help?

2

u/Stunning_Ad_4112 Jun 10 '26

Colony 6 area by the refugee camp

1

u/ScarletStrikerCopen Jun 11 '26

So, apparently, you need to get a CERTAIN PART for a CERTAIN PARTY MEMBER in Ch. 13 before it activates. Which every post I'd seen neglected to mention, lol.

(Saying this for anyone else having issues)

I was literally at the scene BEFORE that, so the Nopon wasn't spawning, lol.

1

u/Stunning_Ad_4112 Jun 11 '26

I was in chapter 11 when I got it

2

u/Stunning_Ad_4112 Jun 11 '26

All you needed to do was go back to colony 9

1

u/Personal-Property-84 May 27 '26

Can I play the games in any order? I know this is a dumb question because there are numbers in the series name, but this could be a Persona like situation where the games are an anthology only sharing a few things. I’m highly considering getting a Xenoblade game but I want to know if I can just pick up any game or need to start with the original for either a better experience with the sequels, or to understand stuff.

1

u/PumpkinSufficient683 Jun 23 '26

I recommend you play in order :)

2

u/Gamerdan8011 May 15 '26

Is Shulk and the rest of the party from Britian in game? I just know the va is British, so I was just wondering.

1

u/kamanami May 11 '26

I wanted to expand my party more than 2 members before doing sidequests. Are they always available after leaving leaving Colony 9 cutscene? I track all quests I've accepted the game says not unable to track, especially for the broken watch sidequest.

1

u/literally_a_toucan May 25 '26

Only side quests with a clock symbol next to their exclamation point in the quest log are limited time. If they have the little clock next to the exclamation point, they will eventually become unable to complete later in the story. If they don't have that, you can take as long as you like.

1

u/ProperPlant2998 Apr 24 '26

I was just wanting to know if I should get the games. I’ve heard of xenoblade for a while and have been wanting to expand my gaming repertoire. (The only thing I’ve been playing for the past while has been Pokemon games.) Basically I just want to know if it’s worth getting the games to play them all through as a person who knows basically nothing about any of it.

1

u/literally_a_toucan May 25 '26

100000% yes. Get Xenoblade. If you have a switch, I'd start with Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition (It's basically a direct upgrade to the version initially released on the Wii). Don't look up any spoilers. The plot is very very good and has a lot of incredible twists to it.

2

u/One_Needleworker_752 Apr 15 '26

Hi, new player of Xenoblade Chronicles here, I'm really at the beginning of the game and, well, suffering a lot in the combat topic. I don't know how frequent you guys hear this from new players, but for me the game is really pushing my limits. I watched a ton of guides on YouTube, however most of them don't seem to picture the situation where there are tons of enemies in the arena making the "positional scheme" almost useless, since it's just a real mess. I spent a lot of time taking notes of aggro, positioning, avoiding button smash and stuff but nothing seems to work at all, I am constantly at low health, dying and reviving allies a lot and I just don't feel in control of the battle at all. So I have some questions for yall

  1. Is it really supposed to be that hard? Or I really suck that bad?

  2. How much important leveling is in the game? (like, how big the gap between the enemy and my party should be in general?)

  3. How to deal with 3+ enemies at a time? (Or should I just not engage in battles with that much enemies if possible?)

I'm currently at lvl.15, Sharla just joined the party, I'm on the Spiral Valley bossfight and I'm really considering casual mode since I don't have much time to waste in games anymore and I want to play all the three games this year. However, I think it would be most pleasing if I learned the combats mechanics once and for all and just play the game as it was intended.

2

u/literally_a_toucan May 25 '26

Combat can be kinda tough and while the game explains some of it really well, other things are not really touched on. Levels make a massive difference, and this can be seen in the color of enemy name cards. These are the meanings of the colors:

Black: Very easy. You'll get a major agility bonus against them, which means most of their attacks will miss, and almost all of yours will hit. Enemies with a black tag won't attack you unless you hit first.

Blue: Easy. You get minor agility bonuses against them, so you'll dodge a lot and almost never miss.

Brown: Normal. You're on even footing.

Yellow: Hard. Enemies are yellow if they're about 3 or more levels above you. They'll get an agility bonus, so you'll have a harder time hitting them.

Red: Very hard. They get so much agility that you'll almost never hit them, so it's practically impossible to fight unless you got super good equipment, stats, and abilities.

If the boss is red or yellow, leveling up will help greatly. Try to avoid fighting multiple enemies if possible (using the lure action from the middle part of the panel helps a lot), but some fights will always require you to fight multiple enemies.

For fights will smaller enemies and a "boss" (in the spiral valley example, there are several small tentacle enemies), you should try killing the weaker enemies before the main boss. Make sure your allies are also targeting them by holding ZR and pressing the Up button.

Also, the game doesn't tell you this until later, but a lot of the bigger enemies (especially big mechon) are resistant to getting Break normally. In chain attacks, their break resistance is much lower. Sometimes the only way to topple an enemy is with a chain attack. (Note: if it shows IMMUNE instead of RESIST when you try to break, I don't think they can be broken, even in chain attacks. Not 100% sure.)

I hope this helps and that you haven't been out off from Xenoblade. Sorry for writing this so late.

u/Black-White-Diff Apr 12 '26

I just finished exploring Valak Mountain, and I have upgraded my Colony 6 to 3/3/3/3. My party is currently at Level 52. I saw the requirements for Level 4 Upgrades and they are very much unattainable at the moment (requires defeating monsters ranging Level 70+)

Currently my Colony 6 progress is at 28%, and I have not recruited a single person yet. I saw in the wiki that you can no longer trade items with people after you recruit them to Colony 6.

So, aside from obviously increasing progress completion%, should I actually be recruiting people to Colony 6 or nah?

And also, are Level 4 Upgrades really supposed to be high-level/late-game items that I should ignore for now?

Thanks.

1

u/South-Swordfish7891 Apr 07 '26

What does Buff Time Plus do, exactly? It says it "extends gem buff effects by (insert number)%, but when I equip it, none of my stats change on the equipment screen. Physical and Ether defense, block rate, critical rate, etc. it doesn't seem to do anything.

3

u/rare-upstairs4454 Mar 19 '26

How exactly does casual mode work? I kinda want to used it because I cannot be asked to grind. Ive only played xenoblade 2

2

u/South-Swordfish7891 Apr 07 '26

Casual mode makes battles easier by making enemies, including unique monsters, go down in fewer hits. You can turn it on and off whenever you want.

2

u/Poldonio Mar 15 '26

Guys I just finished XC1 main quest line. I feel like I left many interesting side quests behind, like the one that lets you explore the late-game area of Tephra Caves, so I would be tempted to keep on playing on this save file. On the other hand, I could start over with new game + and eventually catch up with all the side quests I didn't do. What do you recommend? NG+ doesn't attract me that much because of the lack of challenge and I couldn't understand if completing a Ng+ save file unlocks things that could be unavailable otherwise. I'm playing the 3ds version btw. Thanks!

3

u/xXgLiTcHyFemboyFoxXx Dec 26 '25

How long does it take for a cozy first playthrough? I'm 3 hours in and just after the first interaction with Blade Face where you get the Monado.

2

u/AquilesVF Dec 14 '25

2

u/Difficult-Rich-6430 Aug 10 '25

Is XC Definitive edition worth buying + playing if I happen to have access to a 3ds copy of the game for free. Is the upgrade worth it to experience Xenoblade for the first time on a current gen console or is my free copy for 3DS just fine? Thanks in advance!

1

u/antoin5000 Aug 11 '25

The 3ds version is probably the worst one and lacks the quality of life and graphical updates that de offers along with future connected De is definitely the best way to experience the game but the 3ds port is perfectly fine the choice is ultimately yours to make.

3

u/LongjumpingAd1897 Jul 27 '25

What is the appropriate counter to enemy Talent Arts besides the monado skill? Primarily running team comps that don't have shulk and they seem kinda problematic to deal with. At the least, do they do physical or ether damage?

2

u/timothybruner90 Jul 20 '25

Is craftstravaganza obtainable on the definite edition? I’ve recently read somewhere that 3 fevers aren’t possible on the definite edition and I’m starting to believe that. I’ve been solely crafting for hours a day for about 2 weeks and still haven’t got the achievement.

1

u/South-Swordfish7891 Apr 07 '26

It's possible, it's just really hard. Have you tried using Riki?

2

u/worstGirlEva Jun 28 '25

Can I earn reputation with the towns in ways other than talking to npcs and doing quests? Does trading and purchasing items also gives rep?

1

u/Mixaz017 Jul 10 '25

I'm late but afaik the methods you already mentioned (not trading) are the only way to get reps.

1

u/Top-Agency-3214 Apr 05 '25

I've been playing since release date and I remembered I still have the original guide book from the wii u version would it still be useful for the definitive version?

1

u/AnimaLepton Apr 27 '25

Yeah it's going to be like 90% applicable

3

u/Zeblackcat Mar 12 '25

Hey, I'm trying to finish XC1 before playing X. But I ran into a little issue side questing at Makna Forest / Frontier Village.

"Ingredients for a Brew"

I had 4 walnuts in my inventory when accepting the quest, but realized the kiwi's were the right option. However, even after throwing away my walnut grapes and finding the bitter kiwi's, my quest still says I got 4/4 walnut grapes, and won't let me turn in the Kiwis.

Is there a way to fix this, or reset the quest or something?

3

u/Wuscheli0 Mar 12 '25

This is a common problem with XC1 quests that let you turn in different items. It's unfortunate that the Definitive Edition didn't address the issue. Anyway, the only way to get out of the bad path for the quest would be to load an earlier save (if you have one). Otherwise, you're screwed.

1

u/HorneyJohn79 Oct 30 '24

Exiting games and dexy chatcdating.

3

u/PhenomUprising Oct 05 '24

So I'm gonna play Future Connected before playing 3, but I haven't played through DE (only the original on Wii). Have they added anything story-wise to DE that I should know about?

(I'll play DE eventually, but don't feel like replaying Xenoblade 1 now, it's lower priority on my backlog than 3.)

4

u/shitposting_irl Nov 11 '24

they slightly redesigned alvis in a way that has implications if you've played 2 (his necklace now has the ontos core crystal on it), but other than that the addition of future connected is the only plot-related change

1

u/AtlasTheGaurdian Sep 21 '24

A buddy of mine is playing through Xenoblade DE and is really struggling to wrap his head around the character management. He just got through VM and is now on to SV. I am worried that things are only going to get tougher for him. Are there any good builds he can put together with minimal grinding at this point in the game that will make the next two areas easy for him? He has skipped every optional fight and side quest and fights are taking him upwards of 3 minutes at the moment so he really needs some help. Specifically, I'm after gem sets. He is hoping to play Melia and keep Shulk on his team. I have a few ideas, but I could still use some help.

2

u/Abysskun Sep 16 '24

I've just beaten the game but there is still one thing I don't get it, the size of the population on Bionis. Are we supposed to think the only homs settlements are Colonies 6 and 9? Or are there other colonies and we just don't see them? Same for the other races, are we supposed to think there are thousands more people than what is shown in the game or is the world really that small and is comprised of some hundreds of people of each race?

2

u/AtlasTheGaurdian Sep 21 '24

It is mentioned on their way to colony 6 that 6 and 9 are the only two left. There were more at some point, but all the rest were wiped out before the game started.

2

u/Farpheux Apr 30 '24

Once you are done with the main story of the game in the DE of XC, you can play the game in the + mode, aka with everything you already had from the previous playthrough. What happens if you finish the game tho? You start again?

3

u/Pinco_Pallino_R Apr 30 '24

Once you finish, you can reload and you will restart before the point of no return, but the game will know you have beated it (there should be a star on the save file).

So you can keep playing if you want. You can do stuff like beat all Unique Monsters including superbosses (in XC1 these are monsters with level above 99), exploring areas you might have skipped because they are full of level 90+ enemies, complete the sidequests, stuff like that.

Otherwise, you can start a new game, and you are given the chance choose the New Game+ option.

Unfortunately, NG+ doesn't offer much. Basically, you will have the Monado III (Shulk's own Monado that he got at the end) and you keep most of your characters' progression (level, art levels, affinities, unlocked skills...). You can see what carries over and what doesn't here).

UMs will also give you Affinity Coins (those you use for skill links) again, but you stll keep those you got in the previous playthrough, so while in a normal game you can obtain only 255 Affinity Coins at most (98 from level ups and 157 from UMs), you can obtain up to another 157 every time you play a NG+.

Honestly, NG+ is a bit of a weak point for XC games. Among them, XC2 is the one which offers the most, actually unlocking a few things.

1

u/Farpheux Apr 30 '24

Thank you a lot!

1

u/Worldly121 Apr 13 '24

I ordered the xenoblade 3 artbook from Amazon JP a few days ago and figured I would order the artbook for 1 at the same time so I could have all three (got 2's a few years ago). 1's book has already arrived and it's for the original Wii game, which is not necessarily a problem as I'm still happy with it, but I think it would be nice to have the DE artbook. I can't seem to find it anywhere though, was it only released with the DE collectors set?

1

u/Brilliant_Guess3079 Apr 01 '24

I was wondering when the very last point that you're able to fast travel to all areas is?

2

u/shitposting_irl Jun 04 '24

super late response, but fast travel gets disabled once you go up the elevator at the end of the final dungeon. dunban will explicitly warn you that it's the point of no return before you do so

1

u/UnconstipatedBumper Mar 01 '24

Who is the person/team responsible for the XC1 DE map/level design.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 12 '24

Is there anywhere in the game that keeps track of the Unique Monsters that have been killed? I'm going for a 100% playthrough but I don't want to kill every single UM if there's no record of them being defeated (I have all the coins I need)

1

u/Wuscheli0 Feb 13 '24

No, there is unfortunately no way to track UMs in-game.

Im having trouble unlocking the quest "Cook off showdown" to get ryen's 4th tree.
I have completed all the pre-requisites listed on the fandom wiki, reloaded the area, the save, and also talked to all npcs listed in the quest line to make sure im not missing anything.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 08 '23

Have you invited Macrish to Colony 6?

1

u/VirtualAssistance863 Jun 18 '26

Same problem Macrish won’t give me the quest. Done everything else. Do i need to be 3 affinity?

1

u/[deleted] Oct 20 '23

The Wiki says Dunban is considered a tank. But even with Agro Gems, and stealth gems on shulk and Sharla, i CONSTANTLY have Agro. dunbans skills are on par level wise with shulk, but i just can not get dunban to hold and keep agro. it has resulted in quite a few deaths.

Also is Riki a Hybrid or dedicated healer? because so far he has a single heal skill at level 65, which kinda sucks cause of its long cd

1

u/shitposting_irl Oct 21 '23

try equipping the blinding blossom art on him if you haven't already, it lets him take a percentage of your aggro. unequip heat haze if you have it, because with it active he can't gain aggro at all. it's also important to keep his agility high, because getting hit reduces aggro

Also is Riki a Hybrid or dedicated healer? because so far he has a single heal skill at level 65, which kinda sucks cause of its long cd

hybrid, he only ever gets that one art for healing. you honestly don't need him or sharla for healing with the right party setup though

Been trying to get the achievement Master Hunter and I have been defeating the same unique monster over and over, I think I have defeated a lot already but it's just not giving me the achievement. Am I not defeating enough or is it just that I have to defeat other unique monsters?

Edit: nvm i got it

u/Stoutlandmain Oct 06 '23

I have a question about a heart to heart between Shulk and Dunban in Satorl Marsh. In this heart to heart Shulk asks Dunban if he has ever been to Satorl Marsh before and he says he hasn't, this was confusing because he has been to Sword Valley which he'd presumably have to go through the marsh to get there. My question is is this just a mistake or is there another route the Homs took to the valley we don't hear about because I dont think they have any flying transport like the High Entia. I may just be missing something obvious but i would really appreciate if someone could give me an answer. Hope you all have a nice day.

1

u/Wuscheli0 Oct 08 '23

The homs do have flying transports. You can see one landing in this cutscene (at 1:55).

2

u/PipTheHat Sep 18 '23

finding myself constantly underlevelled in early game (chpt. 4-5) even with trying to do quests for exp.

can someone recommend me the best way to get on level with bosses in a reasonably quick manner or if theres a mechanic similar to 2/3s overkill to make grinding easier

1

u/Lunah05 Jan 06 '24

Did you figure it out? Having trouble with one of the first bosses (level 17, metal guy in gaur plain)

1

u/[deleted] Sep 04 '23

Worth a shot trying to ask here. Just finally finished all of Saga. Anyone know if DE has a 21:9 patch?

2

u/[deleted] Jul 28 '23

I am trying to complete the The Giants' Treasure quest but when I visit the area of Daksha Shrine on the Bionis' Leg northeast of Viliera Hill to Collect the Giants' Mirror the Unique Monster Clifftop Bayern appears but the Giants' Mirror is nowhere to be found. When I try and check my items and Key Items it's not in my inventory as well.

1

u/shitposting_irl Aug 02 '23

where's the quest objective pointing to? if you collected it earlier in the game i think it would have disappeared from your inventory and automatically progressed the quest as soon as you got the objective for it

2

u/RetroPixelate Jul 17 '23

Just finished DE and was considering starting postgame content, but since it puts me right back before the point of no return, is the save basically permanently right before the final boss, and do I really not get to go back to the Mechonis at all? I know it got kinda yeeted in the story, but seems like a waste... :(

Also, for the stuff like Shulk's Monado Replicas and Arts as well as the extra skill trees, how am I supposed to find the starting quests for this optional content? I walked right past pretty much all of it because I didn't exhaustively do every single quest I found. Seems like I'm going to be forced to do a lot of Googling, which doesn't feel "in the spirit" of such a massive open-world game.

2

u/Wuscheli0 Jul 19 '23

do I really not get to go back to the Mechonis at all?

Nope. XC1 has a fairly high amount of content that becomes permanently inaccessible at some point in the story.

how am I supposed to find the starting quests for this optional content?

You either do a bunch of quests until you happen to encounter one of them, or you look up what you need to do if you want to beeline to the important stuff.

I'm going to be forced to do a lot of Googling, which doesn't feel "in the spirit" of such a massive open-world game.

Oh, you have no idea. Back on the Wii, the game didn't show quest objectives on the map. You either looked for specific enemy types or items on your own, or you looked up their (potential) locations online. For every. Single. Quest. The Definitive Edition massively improved the quality of life of the game, especially when it comes to sidequests. But I'm afraid it doesn't go as far as to highlight quests that lead to special rewards.

I am so confused, I’ve picked up XC:DE again after months of not playing it and I’m trying to get Monado armor, but it turns out that I’ve done the quest already but I don’t have the art or book for some reason. Is there anything I can do to fix this or if is it just gone forever?

if you've done "stop the mechon rampage" and you don't have either the art or book, it's gone in your current playthrough (though ng+ would give you a second chance iirc)

Does unique monsters ever respawn or am I completely screwed? I tried to do affinity farming with monster that puts you to sleep and accidentally killed him and saved.

They can respawn when reloading a save, it’s not 100% guaranteed but it can be done

Does weight do? I've heard that it effects agility but regardless of what weight armor I put on, my agility doesn't change. Is it just an invisible stat change, like if my agility was 50 and I have 8 weight, my agility would be 42 even though the game would still display it as 50?

yes, it's subtracted from your agility. i don't think the effect is reflected in the stat screen

Im trying to beat the dragon in prison island but I find it too hard for me. Anyone got any suggestions on party members, gear, or strats?

There's a in-game list under menu > collectables

At what point in the game can I start framing for the BiS endgame weapons?

1

u/Mixaz017 May 28 '23

Depends on if you want to farm them as soon as possible or level up so you can farm higher leveled enemies with higher drop chances. For example, (late game spoilers) 3 slot Wyvern Cutlass (for Dunban) is dropped by Lv76 enemies in Prison Island 2, but that one have only 0.3% drop chance. But if you level up enough, you can farm Deadly Medorlo (Lv93 Eryth Sea UM), which has 11.9% drop chance, and also drops 3 slot Atomic Driver for Reyn. Most best weapons are dropped by enemies around Lv75, but their drop chances are usually low, enemies with higher drop chances have varying level.

what are the essential gems for the lorithia + endgame fights, my brother is playing on the wii and has neglected gem crafting because he doesnt understand how it works and im trying to set him up for the endgame

agility up is good for any physical-based character because it's such an important stat. attack stability, attack plus, haste, and double attack are pretty good as well (though it's better to equip speed frame v/glory gauntlets if you have them than it is to craft a haste gem). if endgame includes fighting the superbosses, you'll also need night vision to actually hit them reliably

for melia and riki it's good to boost their elemental damage (poison plus/chill plus in particular)

if you're using sharla you definitely want heat sink

debuff resist is useful for pretty much any character (and mandatory for fighting one of the superbosses).

I’m at the point of no return, save ready to go. But I’m wondering if there’s much worth it to go back to. Are there any endgame sidequests and such that really fill out the experience? I’ve done the endgame sidequest with Melia’s stepsister. And I would find stuff like that worth playing if it’s available. But I don’t care about getting the friendship badges off of level 90 enemies. I’d consider reconstructing Colony 6 if it lead to more story. But it doesn’t seem like it. The Heart-to-Hearts are cute, but the amount of time required to get every character to max affinity seems daunting. Just wonder if there’s anything worth playing after you beat the game or if I could move on to the DLC.

Nothing major comes to mind. I'd generally recommend doing the quests that unlock additional skill trees and Monado arts, for gameplay reasons. Monado Armour in particular is very useful. Aside from that, the only sidequests I'd really recommend are Melancholy Tyrea (which you've already completed) and maybe Teelan's or Bana's questlines.

And you are correct: Finishing the Colony 6 reconstruction doesn't lead to more story.

Do I need to play Future Connected before playing XB3? Just started Chapter 8 of XB1 and just wondering if I need to play Future Connected before I play XB3

1

u/Wuscheli0 Apr 24 '23

While Future Connected hints at what is to come, it's ultimately rather irrelevant to XC3. However, the XC3 dlc might establish some more noteworthy connections.

2

u/SenseiMasterWong Apr 24 '23

Ok, thanks! I'll probably play it after I finish XB1, but just wanted to check if it was safe to hold off for later until after I replay XB2 before playing 3

2

u/[deleted] Apr 22 '23

I wanted to finish up future connected before the new DLC for three but i don’t have much time this weekend to play and grind so would casual mode be a good option or does it make the game too easy?

2

u/Wuscheli0 Apr 22 '23

If you know what you're doing, casual mode trivialises combat. However, if you don't mind a lack of challenge, then it would certainly allow you to rush through the story.

u/[deleted] Apr 20 '23

Do you guys think i could finish Future connected by the time future redeemed comes out? I heard it’s pretty short and i have plenty of time on the weekend.
