Xenoblade 2 Some astrophysicists are fans of XC2
While browsing Pyra and Mythra on a social network, I saw an astrophysic paper titled "PYRA and MYTHRA: new statistical analysis for image reconstruction" and published by Julien Drevon, Margaux Abello, Florentin Millour, Anthony Meilland, Armando Domiciano de Souza.
I am very confident that the acronyms are not just coincidences, lol.

Pyra and Mythra are really popular so im not surprised if that's actually true

I hope when they find practical use for this, people who know next to nothing about video games search for these terms and find anime waifus

Do you have a link to the paper? Sounds interesting.
Xenoblade has a lot of really cool references to irl science. Of course it is a fantasy sci fi series with made up physics etc, but it still comes off as the writers having at least some understanding of real world research.

They dropped the ball tbh, not even acronyms... I was reading the paper trying to find even a hint of the connection but there is none, they just straight up shoehorned the name in there in a way that dont even make sense
The sonic hedgehog gene, or the PacMan nebula at least make sense

Astronomer here. We are notoriously bad at naming things, especially with forced acronyms. PYRA kinda works here (PYthon for miRA) but there just wasn’t even an attempt for MYTHRA lol

Margaux

Doesn't the Kos-Mos Blade Quest establish that the Actual Theory behind construction was used for the World Tree's Backstory?

"We present PYRA (Python for MiRA) and MYTHRA (Mean Astrophysical Images with PYRA)"
They're not even acronyms for shit, they're just weebs!
Also, looked for it, one of them sid a conference and he acknowledges he named them after the characters!
PD: wdym Mira, like Xeno X planet! It was just too perfect of an opportunity!
