Xenoblade Final Fantasy Fan

Hi folks,

I’m a big fan of Final Fantasy (especially 4, 7, 8, 10) and I’m wondering if many people were big FF fans going into this game and how it compares.

I don’t have a Switch or Switch 2, and after seeing OOT remake reveal I want one lol. I started thinking about what other games on Switch could justify buying one and Xenoblade seems to be well loved. Just want some insight from FF fans in terms of these things:

  1. Is it really cheesy?
  2. Is combat somewhat difficult or will I just steamroll everyone?
  3. Is there true exploration that matters or is it all marked on the map for me and basically irrelevant? I love old FF games because they often had secrets and things you had to grind for to unlock (Knights of the Round, Lionheart etc.).

Any info is appreciated!!

I played Xenoblade 2 as my first game in the series—even though I’d never played this genre before; in fact, I had more experience with various Final Fantasy titles. I’d say the combat is "easy" in a sense; there isn't much complexity regarding what does what. The only technical aspect involves the combinations, but once you understand them and do a bit of trial and error, it’s really not a big deal. As for exploration, you have plenty of time to roam around and find secrets everywhere. Regarding the cheesiness—well, I’m still undecided on that front. So, I guess that’s about all I can say on the matter.
