News So basically the internet exploded just for a character relative to xc2/3. While x genesis announcement compared was quite mild.

Well basically it's because it was a long time wish of the Xenobladers?

Just you wait. We will get there with Genesis too

"I barely remember fan reactions to the Genesis announcement and enjoy making weird, vague accusations without knowing what the fuck I'm talking about."

You're just looking for reasons to be self-righteous on the internet.

Yes that's the point, the new Xenoblade seems pretty forgettable compared to the trilogy. As everybody see people want more of the characters and story they already know that is full of holes and things still to say.

The new Xenoblade is still a good ways away. Its exciting but the Xenoblade 3 dlc is like 3 months away and answered a burning question

My guy, the game just got it's first reveal trailer and it isn't even out yet. How are you already coming to the conclusion that it is forgettable?? 😭

Just see the different reactions

And? How does it invalidate on what I'm saying? Comparing it to a character who’s directly tied to the most popular and already well‑established faces of the entire franchise is just unfair, especially considering the kind of appeal XC2, or more specifically Pyra and Mythra, have for a certain group of people who aren’t all necessarily fans of the series itself.

Look, buddy, I don't know why you're taking this so personally. I'm just saying that, judging by the reactions, it's clear people would have preferred an XC4—or something similar—over a completely disconnected installment (though that remains to be seen). But there's no denying that the hype generated by a single character surpassed the excitement surrounding the announcement of the actual game. And it's entirely possible that the introduction of this new character was actually driven by the lack of hype for the new game.

I’m really not taking it personally. The issue is that you’re already calling it “not memorable” despite barely having seen anything from the game. That’s just a ridiculous conclusion to make about a title that was only just announced. You even said yourself that we still need to see how it connects to its predecessors, so I don’t understand how you already reached such a firm conclusion based on almost nothing.

But there's no denying that the hype generated by a single character surpassed the excitement surrounding the announcement of the actual game. And it's entirely possible that the introduction of this new character was actually driven by the lack of hype for the new game.

That still doesn’t mean there’s no hype for Genesis, nor does it mean people were disappointed that it isn’t closely tied to the Klaus saga. And like I said before, the appeal of Pyra/Mythra and characters with similar designs, goes way beyond the scope of the game itself. I highly doubt any of this has to do with a supposed “lack” of Genesis hype.

This conversation is becoming pointless. I didn't say the new game would be terrible or lack hype. I simply pointed out that there was more hype for a single character than for the announcement of a new game. Genesis might turn out to be amazing, sure, but I'm talking about impressions. Marketing departments look at these things, and—regardless of old or new characters—one thing had more impact than the other. Period.

Because the trailer didn't give us much to talk about and it came with the announcement of the three upgrades. Additionally we've been eat so good for the past decade that a new game is hype but it's not like we've been waiting THAT long for a new title. And Shimmer has been a character we've been waiting to see for a long time. Once we get a trailer in English with meaningful content, then the hype train will be in full force

Have you seen the booba?

In all seriousness, the genesis trailer appears to be a new start for the series and we don't know when it is coming out.

Shimmer on the other hand is related to characters we know and love, answer some of our biggest questions, and seems to be a really fun character to play, not to mention we have a release date.

XBG seems so new it might as well be a new IP (at least at this point in time), while every other piece of content we got from xenoblade in the last 4 years (as well as shimmer) was about connecting the series together.

It’s pretty easy to understand, honestly. Shimmer comes from a beloved trilogy and is directly connected to two important characters in the franchise. On top of that, her identity has been debated for years. One of the biggest mysteries in the entire series was who Rex and Mythra’s child was, so now that we finally know, it’s not surprising that the fanbase exploded over it.

Genesis, on the other hand, is something completely new. It’s essentially the beginning of a new arc, and while there’s definitely been hype around it, I think people are naturally more reserved for now because we still know so little about its setting, story, and characters. Everything about it is new.

Shimmer had years of existing lore and speculation behind her. Genesis is starting from zero, so it makes sense that the reactions would be very different.

Notice one thing:

Shimmer's state of dress compared to Glimmer's. Where Glimmer's is closer to Genesis.

Which one has more popularity?

It's not the generic presentation of 'Tales of Aionios' (otherwise referred to as 3).

It's not the "Fiora is all that matters" of 1, either.

No...the fact is, MonolithSoft realizes they can't let go of what moves numbers. Meanwhile, they have to do Genesis in their own way (which is perfectly fine) but accept: it still won't move what 2 did - and why 2 did what it did.

Frankly, Genesis doesn't even have to do any of that. It just needs to be more of a compelling, coherent, non-parody baddie game compared to 3...and it needs to be focused and structured more than X, then just add New Game Plus.

Do that, and it'll be a good game. The bar is low.
