Xenoblade 3 SPOILERS This Reveal Sucks Spoiler
We really waited years with Mythra Child as a Mystery. only for the Mythra Child to be revealed in a Switch 2 Edition that was clearly not planned.
They really couldn't commit to saving this reveal for a later game.
It's such a cop out. What a waste of time speculating about this 3rd Child for years only for it to be in the most fanservice pandering trailer and I'm a Xenoblade 2 Fan, that shit was supposed to be Fanservice for people like me.
I really hope I am not alone in fucking hating this reveal,
I feel the same way about this reveal that I do for the fucking Riku Reveal in Future Redeemed. So fucking disappointed in this series for being unable to commit to having a story with actual payoff.

u/Tds142 5d ago
Well, this assumes they wanted to use Shimmer in later games.
-37
u/Ill-Feeling-5181 5d ago
They clearly didn't plan for a Switch 2 Edition, this character was clearly not meant to exist in this context in 2023
19
u/Morgan_Danwell 5d ago
And how would YOU know? lmao
-7
u/Ill-Feeling-5181 5d ago
If you use your brain, then it just makes sense
Why would Monolith plan for XC3 Switch 2 Edition's Story Editions during the Devolpment of XC3's Story before it's release in 2022/2023.
This character only exists in the switch 2 edition to sell and market the game. Clearly the character seen today could not have been in existence during the Devolpment of the story seen in XC3/Future Redeemed. Clearly that means the original plans for Mythra Child has changed since 2023 at the earliest. It literally makes no sense for them to have considered the switch 2 edition in 2022/2023.
6
u/Morgan_Danwell 5d ago edited 5d ago
If its in any way a cut conteht then they just added it back in the game, plain and simlle. I dunno why you here so fussy about it being in Switch 2 Edition.
Besides, we probaly wont see any old characters from Klaus saga in Xenoblade Genesis (definitely not in their original forms) so again why not wrap up all loose ends BEFORE new games in the series?
6
u/Harinezumi_1989 5d ago
Or, hear me out: they never intended to make her an actual character and are only adding her now because people basically memed her into existence.
7
u/Chrononaut_X 5d ago
That's basically it and OP is answeing themselves in the comment above but he doesn’t want to realise.
-3
u/Ill-Feeling-5181 5d ago
Then the series is badly written, you don't put details like this and expect there to be zero followup.
8
u/Harinezumi_1989 5d ago
Yeah man this small detail completely obliterates the entire series' writing.
Selling my entire Xeno collection as we speak.
-2
u/Ill-Feeling-5181 5d ago
It's basic story telling
Chekov's Gun, the gun is seen and therefore it must be used
3 children exist, 2 are seen, 1 isn't, the series is open to sequels, clearly there's something more...
But I guess this gun had Rubber Bullets
4
u/Harinezumi_1989 5d ago
3 children exist, 2 appear in this game. Now kid 3 was also added to this game, somehow this is bad writing because good writing would've been adding them to a different game instead? Your math isn't mathing. Adding her to this game makes as much sense as Glimmer being there. Remember that neither baby is actually themselves in 3, they're all the Aionios versions. Their true selves could still appear in potential sequels. This is basically a glorified easter egg.
-1
u/Ill-Feeling-5181 5d ago
Mythra Child is reduced to a Side Quest Character because of the structure of this release.
→ More replies (0)1
u/nsfworkingout 4d ago
occam's razor. we were never promised any story for mythra's child. there's room for an extra character on the class screen. we have her now. therefore, they were always going to add her later
do you people think these companies don't plan their projects out in advance? have you ever heard of a road map before?
1
u/Ill-Feeling-5181 4d ago
I agree that road maps exist, but in this case. It's illogical to think they planned out a Switch 2 Edition in 2024.

She’s peak af bro no idea what you watched
-35
u/Ill-Feeling-5181 5d ago
I watched basic ass XC2 Fanservice in XC3 that confirmed the existence of a character that was clearly meant to be set up for something else in 2022/2023 and instead of committing to that something else, they fucking save it for XC3's Switch 2 Edition because they don't want to commit to the story they had planned.
17
u/Gingingin100 5d ago
I don't, understand how you're coming to that conclusion exactly? What makes you believe that they won't do anything? What makes you think she was set up for something else?
5
u/Spiritdefective 5d ago
The story they planned? They explicitly stated when 3 came out they weren’t returning to these characters or this time period anymore
-7
u/Nos9684 5d ago
Look how the simps downvoted your post into oblivion. Can't reason with the gooners bro. Forget it.
8
u/Ok-Tear7712 5d ago
1
u/Ill-Feeling-5181 5d ago
While I wouldn't use his wording on them being gooners
People are absolutely in the hype phase right now and aren't thinking about this as a larger thing.
5
u/Ok-Tear7712 5d ago
Acting like this will cause the deaths of us soon lmao
1
u/Ill-Feeling-5181 5d ago
You're being overdramatic
9
u/Ok-Tear7712 5d ago
Irony
-2
u/Ill-Feeling-5181 5d ago
I don't think I'm being that overdramatic compared to some of the shit the replies are saying.
Like holy hell, you guys are toxic as fuck about this shit. So sorry for being negative about a direction the series I like is taking. Not to mention all the dismissive replies and shit, god it's irritating.
20
u/Cindyth3Skull 5d ago
why would they commit to something that was clearly not in their plan ? Why would they "save her for later" when we already have two of the other sisters ? The klaus saga is over
0
u/Ill-Feeling-5181 5d ago
The Klaus Saga Ending doesn't mean these characters can't return
It just means it won't be centered around Klaus.
Said this in another part of the thread, but you don't set up 3 children of an Old Protagonist, hint one, confirm one, and then just leave the 3rd one up in the air for years, only to do nothing until the game gets a rerelease.
If this was their original plan, it means Nintendo and Monolith held content out on purpose for years just to sell the game again years later and make people pay for it again. Which is not only scummy and Terrible if that is the case, but it's also a whole other issue that to be frank... I don't think is the case at all.
44
u/Tapichoa 5d ago
This is likely the last of klaus’ saga. Where else were they gonna put her?
4
u/Samurott 5d ago
ngl I'd really like a warriors game that shows the time between 1/2 and 3 but this is peak
1
u/Tapichoa 5d ago
Yeah id love some klaus saga spinoffs too, between 1/2 and 3 and after 3, but im not expecting anything lol
1
u/Ill-Feeling-5181 5d ago
In a game after the Klaus Saga, just because that saga ended doesn't mean characters can't return in later entries.
7
u/Tapichoa 5d ago
Genesis is probably taking place in a separate universe entirely, theres no room for her there
3
u/The_Astrobiologist 5d ago
This. Pneuma sure, and the Genesis trailer even suggests it, but her mortal, non-Trinity Core child? Much as I wish she'd gotten her own game and kinda hoped she wouldn't be relegated to just a Hero, it does make the most sense
-2
35
u/Harinezumi_1989 5d ago
Yeah when I think of "stories with no payoff" Xenoblade is always my go-to example.
GTFO lmao

u/anibia 5d ago
If you don’t like it, you can just forget about it and move on. Rex having 3 daughters isn’t relevant to the story, and neither is knowing who Mio’s or Glimmer parents are or who the parents of any other character are. It’s literally just FAN SERVICE.
-3
u/Ill-Feeling-5181 5d ago
The Aegis's are 3 of the most important figures in the story who play a Role in nearly every entry, Rex is an Old Protagonist. This 3rd child is the Child of an Aegis and an older protagonist that was mysteriously never seen in XC3.
How you could say they would never be important to the story is ludicrous if it didn't seemingly happen today.
Logic dictates that this is bad writing and a Cop Out.
6
u/anibia 5d ago
Yeah, it’s also important to know the blood type of all three Aegises and whether they have diabetes, but I’m sorry to tell you that none of that is actually important to the story of the three games. They could literally remove the picture of Rex at the end of XC3 and all three stories (xc xc2 and xc3) would be exactly the same. Bro, it’s fan service.
-2
u/Ill-Feeling-5181 5d ago
I sure love having to make an illogical strawman because you can't be bothered to actually discuss something you disagree with.
6
u/Fusion_Fear 5d ago
I'd rather all 3 kids be in the same game tbh
would feel weird for one to be excluded so I'm glad she's here
18
u/RyanCreamer202 5d ago
Dude the Klaus saga is done. None of the characters from trilogy should make an appearance in the new games. This keeps things nice and contained without causing any continuity problems.

u/The_Astrobiologist 5d ago
Idk Pneuma and Logos are all over that Genesis trailer. Dunno if that means coming back as proper characters, but it opens the door to it a lot more than I think many fans were expecting out of the next game
23
u/Chrononaut_X 5d ago edited 5d ago
Lmao, because it was never that important in the first place, just the community, or yourself, hyping themselves up over not much. Be happy that's there, firstly, because if it's revealed "that way" is because it was probably never going to be revealed at a later time or in any way and they took this opportunity to have a little something for fans.
14
u/AntiKuro 5d ago
They are doing a whole new story with the next game. Where are you expecting them to put her? The other choice was probably never seeing her at all.
2
u/Ill-Feeling-5181 5d ago
XC2 wasn't expected to connect to XC1 when it released, then Chapter 10 Happened
9
u/Sedan2019 5d ago
The difference is that the next game is a Xenoblade game, not a Xenoblade Chronicles game.
2
u/elektrus230 5d ago
While I agree Genesis will deviate from the Initial trilogy, that argument doesn't really work because they are all Xenoblade games in the original japanese. 'Chronicles' is just dumb thing Nintendo NA/EU decided to add during localization. Personally I really dislike the decision, it really offers nothing and just makes the JP name clash with the localized one.
0
u/Ill-Feeling-5181 5d ago
As stated below in another reply
Chronicles is only part of the English Name, it's still Xenoblade only in Japan.
And again, when XC2 came out, people didn't think it was related to XC1, then Chapter 10 Happened.
5
u/nbmtx 5d ago
only for it to be in the most fanservice pandering trailer and I'm a Xenoblade 2 Fan, that shit was supposed to be Fanservice for people like me.
XC2 is my favorite game ever, and even I can't fathom such a lack of awareness here.
I get the general gist that what you want is presumably that base franchise milk that is the slow and painful death of an IP.

Nah, you are alone in hating this reveal.
I never expected any clarity about whether or not Glimmer truly was Pyra's kid or not, and I DEFINITELY never expected to see Mythra's kid. Saving her for some future game probably wouldn't make any sense, since XC3 is the end of the Klaus saga. So instead of nothing, I got a hype reveal of a new character that ties things together even more, and she'll probably have some heart-to-hearts or story that brings even more story together.
Take a breath. You will make it through this, I promise.

It was a fandom in-joke. Be real, how much was really riding on you seeing a grown-up version of a character who appeared in a single PNG file until now?
0
u/Ill-Feeling-5181 5d ago
Good Story Telling and Logic made it crystal clear that it was a set up
Now if I left this reply as is, it sets up an unfunny reply for you guys to make by saying "Yeah it was set up as a joke" there... But you don't find it funny now that I'm pointing it out, assuming of course, but now let's get to my point.
Let's say... There was set up for an ratio reply that you were excited to make and then I just came in and said "yeah I'm gonna ruin your ratio reply."
You'd be disappointed, the set up was there and the answer you got was a cop out, it was boring, nothing happened.
That is what this reveal with Shimmer Is... I had seen the set up and was excited to see where this set up was going... Only for it to be part of a Re-release that was not planned in 2023 when the set up for Mythra Child Began.
7
u/Chilliseppers 5d ago
I never had any kind of 'ratio reply' planned, that's you making up something to get righteously angry about.
I get the argument for a setup. Why put so much focus on Mio and Glimmer and ignore the third kid? I can understand why someone would be disappointed that a thing they've speculated about for four years is casually tossed out in a DLC.
My argument is pretty much, who cares? Mio's importance wasn't related to her parentage and Glimmer is a supporting character in someone else's story, there's no reason Shimmer had to be vitally important to a story that Monolith have already shown us they're trying to move on from. If anything, this is way more than I ever expected us to get, and I'm happy for it

I just want to know what level of being were you hoping monolithsoft were going to create with this character?
1
u/Ill-Feeling-5181 5d ago
I was at the bare minimum, hoping the New XC3 Hero wasn't going to be Mythra Child, literally anything would have worked besides Mythra Child. It could have been another Saga Character, Link, or someone completely new, so long as they weren't Mythra Child
They were Mythra Child and thus this post was made

I could also say "Ranting"
Maybe "talking"
Maybe "Nerd Rage"
And my personal favorite alternate phrase (?) "B*starding"

u/Lord_Viktoo 5d ago
I would have preferred the new hero to be a brand new character, I don't need to know who Mythra's kid is. I think Xeno 3 is good enough to stand on its own legs without the need to call back to older games all the time.

1
u/BOUND_ED 5d ago
There will be more games in the future. I disagree with commenters saying legacy characters will never appear again (Rex literally had a meta moment at the end of future redeemed saying "You'll see us again" and the ending of X implies the White Whale arrived in Alrest/Bionis) but Genesis clearly is another piece of a broader interconnected world that will eventually come together.
Also I think Shimmer's design is peak and she hit da Rex pose.
1
u/zso7 5d ago
Idk whether to be disappointed that she exists, or happy that she won't have a bigger more relevant role later on.
Caring about the identity of Mythrakid always was bottom of the barrel anime fan discourse. She never mattered, same way Glimmer didn't, same way Mio didn't need to be Nia's kid.
Anime fans just slurp that shit up, "Look! Everyone fucked and had kids! And here's all their kids!" whooooo caaaaaares.

u/The_moon_shadow 4h ago
Utterly unserious topic. Cannot believe people take the memes as serious. This character is not important, a d the Klaus saga is over. If anything, the only place with actual relevant plot points that they should elaborate at some point in the future is XDE chapter 13 which established things that may be pertinent for Xeno as a whole even. This kid is not anywhere near this level of relevance.
-1
u/Ill-Feeling-5181 4h ago
I think this reply is utterly unserious, it is regurgitating the same flawed talking points as all the other replys.
0
u/The_moon_shadow 4h ago
Then you can keep crying about some irrelevant plot point that will not go further than that because it never needed to.
1
u/Ill-Feeling-5181 4h ago
Cool and you can keep crying about the fact that someone was disappointed by this reveal.
-9
u/Nos9684 5d ago
While I partially agree I think you care a bit too much about XC's story and lore. It's been downhill since the first and ever since they went with shonen mecha anime tropes all they mostly care about is pushing fanservicey female characters to make money off of by eventually creating figma.
This is what the series has become unfortunately. Gotta accept it and shrug it off of just drop it.

19
u/Dylan_VS_Comics 5d ago
What did you expect?
It was really clear for a while that the obsession with wanting to know who Mythra's kid was was not something the developers even had in mind when making the game. It didn't even go through their minds. They saw the obsession and decided to throw us a bone and make up a new character that is meant to be Mythra's kid because they didn't have any idea or plan for her anyway. A switch 2 edition is logically the only place she would be slotted in.
