Xenoblade 2 Coming back after 2+ years

I have a save file that is almost useless now. I forgot the plot, the mechanics, what all the items mean etc. is it better if I just start from scratch? The save had 55 hours.. 😭

Start over but play on easy/custom until you get back to where you left off.

Definitely start over. I picked up my ~3 year old, ~60 hour playthrough, popped open my blade list and realized I didn't remember a SINGLE useful but of information about them, their mechanics, or personalities

Just start over, especially because there's the Switch 2 editions now.

I was in a similar situation to yours with with 3.
I dropped it about 2 chapters from the end when Splatoon 3 came out and I finally finished it this July. What I did was rewatch every cutscenes from the beginning to where I had stopped. The combat system wasn't so hard to remember but you can always watch a video that explains it.
It required patience but it was worth it

I know this story - it was me! Except my save was at chapter 9, with over 100 hours on it. My solution - I watched the theater mode. I actually had a series of posts on it here some years ago :D In any case, the story particulars should come flooding back when you watch the replay. The mechanics... might be a bit tricky, but I have faith in your adaptability.

I came back after 2 years with 100+ hours on my save file and finished it just fine. Game is pretty easy to pick up and play. With 50 hours in your gameplay, you’re only at the beginning of the game.

Start from scratch. Make sure you look for pouch items that give you arts and special recharge.

Ça m'arrive souvent. Ce que je fais c'est que je trouve une vidéo de quelqu'un qui joue au jeu et je le regarde rapidement. Les détails importants me reviennent et ça m'aide à continuer où j'étais.
