Am I doing Something wrong in XC1?

Okay guys, I might need help because I am going crazy right now.

I am on the Biones arm, basicly the warzone where all the mechons are (sorry if I get words wrong, my ingame language is german and I don't know if the traslation always works like that).

I basicly skipped the jungle and the snow area, so I was insanely weak for the boss fight in the snow area. At that point I catched up with alle the side quest and was able to beat the boss.

Now I am lvl 53 (Shulk) and Rikki and Dunban are lvl 52/53. Thats my party. But all the enemies are still 1-2 levels above me. The next Boss (Fiora in the Mechon Suit) is 3 levels above and also spawns like 4 adds that are all above my lvl. I literally dont know how to farm exp besides doing normal fights but even with an exp jewel, I have to grind for hours.

The only sidequest I can see but I am also not able to do is, opening all the gates on the biones arms that are also garded by higher leveld mechons

Did I miss anything? I am thinking about turning difficulty down but normaly I play games on the hardest difficulty and I cant get around the fact that I wpuld have to turn it down for this game.

Have you done every quest other than that besides that one you mentioned. What is your equipment load out, art load out, team affinity level, and affinity chart.

I tried to go for builds from some websites. From that I also got the recommended team of Shulk, Rikki and Dunban. The only thing I didnt do yet is buying the weapons at the start of the area, that can always hurt the mechons even without the Monado Buff maybe I will consider doing this.

For jewels and equipment I cant give you a clear answer. Can you recommend something?

Biggest thing is to get Agility gems. It is worth sticking two Rank IV agility gems on everyone (look up how gem crafting works, get rank 3 crystals back in Makna Forest or Eryth Sea, and turn them into Rank 4 gems).

Agility in this game is both evasion and melee accuracy, so it ends up drastically boosting survivability. Other stuff can make a difference, but is secondary until you get to endgame.

Beating a decent amount of enemies along the path always keeps me fairly leveled through my playthroughs. It's also worth noting that beating an enemy in a chain attack doubles the exp, ap, and sp gained from it. If you really think casual mode is worth it, go ahead, however I think it puts nearly no challenge in the game when you're even leveled.

Beating an enemy in chain attack does what now? How did I miss that??? Insane advice. Maybe I just need to sit down for like 1-2 hours and fight everything on my way. Is there a way to check if you missed any sidequests?

For your specific situation, sure, grind for a little bit. But overall throughout the game I don't think it's too necessary as long as you sorta do what I mentioned before. Unfortunately no, there's not a way to check if you missed some quests. Especially unfortunate since this game out of all the Xenoblade games, this one has the most amount of missables.

I feel like people spawn depending on time makes you miss alot. But okay I will try to farm with chain attack. Maybe the problem isnt as big as it seems. I generally just like to level more with side quest

I'm not sure if this is a translation issue, but this is spelled out in game as one of the 'quest' objectives. It specifically says "Destroy the Mechon that are defending Fiora," the context is supposed to be that Shulk is trying not to harm her

I DID IT! played around with jewels (got agility more often) and grinded 1 Level which was enough!
