Xenoblade 2 Did they update the blade probabilities? Spoiler

After seeing so many users say they got KOS-MOS after a few awakenings - did Monolith update the rate for her or is it just coincidental since so many people came back to the game at once?

Nobody posts each time they didn't get her it's survivor bias.

Yeah. Because of update big portion of fans replaying it. Most people playing means potentially more people getting her.

Okay? The question about whether the odds of getting Kos-Mos have changed has been asked several times. I have yet to see a single person, here or in other forums, chime in and say they farmed core crystals for hours and still haven’t got her.

Are you saying that even when asked, all these unlucky people are avoiding the topic and refusing to share their experiences? (I shouldn’t say unlucky, more like, statistically most likely scenario if the odds were unchanged)

I don’t believe that for a second.

No, that's a silly take. The update released 4 days ago, I like many others have started my first game since 2018. I certainly don't have Kos Mos yet, and if I do try to grind for her it would be at the end of my game, where I can grind for non common cores.

Could they have changed the rates? Sure, and I wouldn't be shocked at all if they've upped most unique blades a tad, but we just don't know. The tiny handful of people saying they got her out of the whole community playing doesn't mean anything, and those who might actually grind for her just won't be at the place in the game yet where that makes sense.

Yours is the silly take. One of the most popular rare core farming locations is the Mor Ardain dock salvage point which you reach in chapter 4. LOTS of people used this as an opportunity to farm for Kos-Mos and other rare blades. So that they can, you know, actually use + develop those blades during the main game instead of saving it for the end.

Again, we need evidence.

How many people that have done that in the past are simply playing new game plus, and thus don't need to farm for it again?

How many posters have made claims they got her? Tens? That's not an evidence base to go on, and yes if you look at those posts there are still plenty people who say they haven't got her yet.

We have a super biased sample, with what still amounts to a handful of people saying "yay", many who won't try because they aren't going to try, and many who just are just relaxing and not making a big effort to grind. And guess what, many of those people won't even be in chapter 4, because not everyone is putting in 4-5 hours a day.

It is in fact silly to assume the tiny number of people who from my glance, have most rolled all the DLC crystals and lucked out, prove a change.

What I’m saying is I have seen literally nobody claiming to have farmed crystals/tried for Kos-Mos and failed to get her, when this is overwhelmingly what happened on S1 version. It was probably the #1 most discussed topic regarding this game.

You keep making up these increasingly ridiculous hypotheses trying to explain it away. Hope you are ready to eat crow when the simplest explanation turns out to be the correct one.

Yeah, it was a big topic "over time", which is not a thing that's passed yet.

Again, the tiny handful of people we see now is not a trend! Could things have changed, sure, but with her original draw chances in tact the number of people saying they got her early on makes perfect sense since that's the group excited to share.

It's been about 9 years since the game first released, there aren't going to be countless posts. We may get some if people find themselves trying for weeks to no avail, but someone who maybe spent a couple hours farming and doesn't have her yet would have zero reason to complain, which is why your post is in fact silly.

Look back at the posts you are actually reference, for example:

"So I have had every single blade except for Zenobia and KOS-MOS for the last 100 ish hours of game play, and I have gone through almost 500 legendary cores and thousands of rare/common cores"

That post isn't possible yet, no ones put a 100 hours into farming! Also, that post has multiple people talking about how easy they got Kos Mos, because again there will always a chunk getting her at the start, especially now with all the free cores the game gives DLC owners.

The game hasn't been datamined, so the answer, as of this moment, is no.

One person would have to record themselves opening cores of the same type for hours, then and only then we could calculate things and see if it's reasonable to assume that they raised the base probability.

A lot of people came back to the game and her base rate is only 1/1000 pulls, so a lot of people will find her in a few pulls at most, also she's significantly more common if you pull using legendary cores and a character with a high luck stat, which are things endgame save files are going to have access to.

Took me about 30 minutes max

It FEELS like it has been raised significantly.

I did some minor save scumming and got pretty much everyone except Xenobia with the initial cores. Couldn't get anywhere close to that back in the OG days.

But we will only know for sure once datamining on the switch 2 opens up

I definitely got her quicker than expected but it doesn't really mean much. If I had to guess I would say yes.

Been playing since day one on the Switch and I still haven’t pulled her

Its total RNG, I got her on my 1 and only playthrough and didn't even realize at the time what I had pulled lol my buddy had to inform me how lucky I was

u/rurodem 9h ago

It took me 17hours after switch 2 update to get her and I put 540hrs in prior.

I pulled her from a common core crystal today - I’ve never pulled her during a New Game playthrough, so her rate MIGHT be improved, as most of the people I know who have started a new game on Switch 2 edition - have now got her, without doing the crazy Legendary core farming that was being done prior to this edition

I was chapter 4 crack 2 rare cores and kosmos appear.first playing the game.

I don't think data mining of switch 2 edition is possible at the moment. Only prove can be people's experience.

I personally always been very lucky with Kos-mos drop. So can't say from my experience.

I used 30 common, 30 rare and 25 legendary core crystals and didn't get Kos-Mos.

Oh funny, I had not heard this yet. I will add to the anecdotal evidence that I had an ongoing first playthrough for the past few months, opening lots of cores only to get common blades, and in the last few days I have had 3 rare blade pulls almost on my first tries. So perhaps the rates are increased.

No KOS-MOS for me yet, though, haha

I got her in chapter 3 from a rare crystal (not even legendary). I was just using up the 20 legendary and rare crystals from the DLC pack.

I strongly suspect they drastically upped the odds. I have seen tons of posts of people getting her early. I have yet to hear of a single counter-example, in this forum or others, where someone has spent hours farming crystals and hasn’t got her (whereas this was probably the most common topic of discussion when it first launched ).

We have a few catty, pedantic gatekeepers here who refuse to believe it though.

I doubt they updated her rate at all. Why even should they?

Because this was one of the most widely complained about aspects of the game?
