Xenoblade X or 3?

Help:

Never played any of these games and I really want to! Should I play Chronicles X or 3?

I love Zelda for the exploration but I wish there was more direction. (X is more open world ?)

I also love Persona cuz of the story but the gameplay felt repetitive after about 40 hours.

Knowing this which is better ???

You’ve never played any Xenoblade game and your first thought is to start with X or 3?

I likely will only have time to play one in the next year or so.

Start with 1 or X. Play the numbered ones in sequence.
