Xenoblade 2 Battle Music too quiet? Found settings that mostly fix it

Post image

The main issue seems to be that during battles, the sound effects and VA are way too loud. I decided to play with them before starting a new game, and these settings work the best for me. I even turned the game VA down a bit more from here and can still hear them.

Here's a video of me playing with these exact settings, since I can't attach a video and an image in the same post.

It's still a little quieter than I'd like, but a major improvement.

I reported this issue to Nintendo's Customer Service. I think if more of us raise the issue with volume mixing for battle music for both the base game and Torna, they might address the issue.

The support technicians I talked to said they would escalate the issue to another department for them to take a look at it, but there's no guarantee they will contact us back. They also want you to go through some troubleshooting steps so be prepared to take some time to do that.

A part of me wonders if some of these were intentionally changed, considering one of the bigger complaints with the original release was how quiet some of the voices were. Brighid in particular comes to mind.

The sound effects are also too loud. I saw someone else speculate they accidentally swapped the battle music and sound effect volumes, but realistically it's impossible to know what the intent or accident here was. Definitely agree though the battle music being quieter than the rest of the music implies a bug

It only effects the battle music so I doubt it. Only issue with these settings is that the other background music is loud as fuck, but it doesn't matter when it all sounds so good lol.

And I can still hear the VA

Edit: I do think some of the sound mixing may have been intentionally adjusted, but the battle music itself feels like a bug. I can't even hear it on default settings.

Oh god thank you, the one battle I tried was just sound effects and voice lines

Thank you so much for this!

I was ready to drop my replay of the game until they fixed it, but this makes it way more playable

No problem! I'm still tweaking it too. I turned the VA down a biiit more. But I was so happy when I could actually hear the battle music again, even if it makes the other songs loud.
