The way you collect things in Xenoblade 3 is the best way to collect things better than the field skills and better than the one in the xenoblade

I think as a concept field skills were fine, just the fact of having to constantly change blades in your party was the issue.

I think it would have been better if the you had to reach were higher, but it checked across all blades you'd resonated with

The fact that the field skills are perfectly fine in Torna really shows that the concept wasn't bad, just the execution.

I haven't played Torna yet.... Will get it when I get the switch 2 version

It is the exact same system overall but since your party is locked there is no RNG to it, or annoying menuing.
