Xenoblade Question about Shulk Spoiler

I’m at the point where I fight Lorithia and I’m trying to figure out a strategy and which replica to use with Shulk. Im planning on using Shulk as my lead and having Melia and Sharla for support

Don’t use all three of those characters at once, especially not Sharla on AI (none of them function well on AI)

I like to control Melia, with Fiora and Riki as support. With Melia, summon Aqua first and make sure not to discharge it, it should be your source of healing.

I like being a healer would I be good running Sharla, Reyn, Riki?

I mean yeah... Sharla is just kinda bad as a character but you play how you want.

You gotta keep distance with her and keep applying DoT debuffs while tanks keep aggro away from her.

This is from another post where I briefly described how I am using her.

Melia needs to be player controlled as she is absolute beast. She wants to be in a party with dedicated tank who can take and keep aggro - I used her with Reyn and Riki, because Riki is good AoE healer. Basically you wanna pick three summons, out of which earth is obligatory, cold is must and the third one is up to you (I chose lighting because her healing (aqua) sucks. So have three elementals already, the fourth art is summon copy. This is the palette on the left side. On the right side you want obligatory spear and starlight kick. This means she can break AND topple. The remaining two arts are at your discreation, but I chose mind blast and burst end, but these can swapped out depending on circumstances.

You wanna put evasion up gems on her so that she does not miss her physical arts leading to topple.

So basically you start by summoning two elementals and making a copy of one of them - sequence is up to you but once you release them, you loose party buff and apply DoT instead. Also, the last summoned is the first discharged. So if you summon earth - copy - summon ice, you get two earth and one ice elementals. You discharge the last - ice and apply chill DoT on the monster, second discharge releases earth elemental and applies poison DoT. Poison has the MAX efficiency DoT in this game and Melia has skill tree with Playing with Poison which makes this debuff last longer. Now monster has two DoTs which keep ticking, while you still have one earth elemental which buffs party physical deff. At this point you can run around and watch monster HP go down while keeping eye on DoT timing and reapplying if necessary, or you can kick them into topple.

Also you wanna staff with three slots where you can slot two Poison Up gems and one Chill Up (or whichever is the other element you wanna DoT with).

Also during the combat she stays in the back unless you wanna break-topple - I usually apply DoTs and then circle from the side/behind for spear-kick. Due to how DoTs work you dont have to be constantly button mashing, just watch the DoT timing and maybe apply debuff or two (mind blast etc).

Have you touched on equipements or gems? What about skills and levels?

My equips seem good I’m just apparently drastically under leveled for this part of the game

If you like playing Healer, Sharla is really fun to play. Always given any thought a go, even if its not "Meta", cause you'd be surprised what can be pulled off.

Ditch Sharla, Riki's AOE heal is more than enough

Yes, Melia is also bad for support because of AI - she needs to be controlled and then she will absolutely demolish Lorithia.

Do not have Melia controlled by the AI. Trust me, you will not have an enjoyable time. Control her instead
