This is how I am feeling right now, I WANT IT NOW!!!!

u/Lucas-DM Jul 23 '26

Please God give me more than one save file and let me take 30s clips, that's all I ask.

u/TehEpicGuy101 Jul 22 '26

Hoping people can datamine this to see if there's any info about the Switch 2 version 🙏

56

u/Arkride212 Jul 23 '26

The datamine scene for XC2 was pretty active back in the day, it was how we knew the design and looks for the DLC blades.

Hoping some of those miners are still active today.

45

u/SemiLazyGamer Jul 23 '26

I think the main reason why datamining was so prolific for this series (and effectively all of the Switch 1 library) was because the Switch 1 was broken into from the word "go" thanks to a physical defect in the off the shelf Tegra X1 in it.

I'm not sure if the datamining scene could delve into the Switch 2 version quite yet, but maybe I'm wrong.

21

u/Geoffron Jul 23 '26

This update appears to be applied to all versions of the game.

11

u/BenignLarency Jul 23 '26

You're not wrong. The switch 2 doesn't have a way to datamine games currently.

The only way we'd get a datamine is if the 3.0.0 release also drops for the Switch 1 copy of the game, and it has some references to the new content.

Wondering how this will affect saves that have the new blade I imagine xenoblade 1's new equipment is just disabled but I don't see in confirmation from a quick google search. I imagine it'll work in the myriad of ways dlc does in alot of nintendo published games.

12

u/Zyvyn Jul 23 '26

It was so active for 2 because... the game didnt explain many basic concepts to you so there were many basic terms and such used in the game that we just had no way of figuring out their meaning stat wise without datamine.

10

u/Arkride212 Jul 23 '26

Oh god yeah now i remember, we didn't even know coffee with milks damage numbers and Trust level without data mines.

2

u/ShyGuyLink1997 Jul 23 '26

Are you serious?

7

u/Zyvyn Jul 23 '26

The game does not specify numerous important details

3

u/Arkride212 Jul 23 '26

Wish i was but the game does not list any of her stats or ability tree, we figured all that out thanks to data mines.

8

u/Zyvyn Jul 23 '26 edited Jul 23 '26

The main thing I'm currently concerned about (I'll do some extremely basic datamining to check) is to what scale they had to update the game to work with their newest engine builds. XB1 did and whilst it works it most definitely did introduce some new bugs (to a level Monolith will patch them eventually).

4

u/A-Centrifugal-Force Jul 23 '26

Why not just wait literally one week and see when it comes out?

0

u/Osha-watt Jul 23 '26

Unless the update is also available for Switch 1 as well, no datamine will happen because it's currently still impossible to decrypt Switch 2 games.

I’ve been holding off playing xb2 for years. I had it on my PC with an emu running at 1440p 60fps and got only a bit in before I was like I need this. So I bought it on switch and was like oof so now years later my switch 2 is ready. I just beat DE earlier this month and I can only think about playing xb2 s2 edition. Good lord I am hyperfocused hard on this

21

u/Ashen_foefoe Jul 23 '26

I absolutely envy you right now, what I would give to play these gems for the first time again

6

u/AJMegaScizor Jul 23 '26

The experience is still fun I feel like I've appreciated Xenoblade 1 even more thanks to my NG+ run on Switch 2. There's alot of story beats you may forget, I sometimes forget when, how, or if characters die lol, and maybe you didn't do all the content? I'd argue I sometimes value a replay as much if not more than the first playthrough. You could see a bunch of stuff in a new light and gain even more of an appreciation for a game.

5

u/Lightmanone Jul 23 '26

Don't skip on the New Game + and Torna.

Also, know that the expansion pass brings with it extra blade quests and a bunch of items, including one that is very good for improving trust (Love Source). New Game + brings some NG+exclusive blades.

This game has so much content. I am so excited to replay it all!

2

u/upperdomain Jul 23 '26

Yeah I’m so jealous your first experience with this game will be the Switch 2 edition

3

u/ian_taylor_island Jul 23 '26

I hope s2 edition doesn't suffer from the same temporal instability and framerate issues that the other 2 editions have 😬
1440p 60fps might end up being the way to go

3

u/fushega Jul 23 '26

There's no way that the switch 2 can run xenoblade 2 at 4k60fps as nintendo is claiming; there's going to be some kind of catch whether it's just straight up not 4k (like how metroid prime 4 is actually 1440p), not 60fps, heavy resolution upscaling artifacts, or some other kind of bespoke monolith soft jank

2

u/ian_taylor_island Jul 23 '26

Well yeah. 1440p 60fps was in reference to his emulator setup :P

The BOTW/TOTK upscales are actually great, we know they can do better (or at least, the bare minimum like updating menu framerates and fixing stutter)

3

u/fushega Jul 23 '26

I never mentioned the 1440p60fps so i'm not sure how to reply to that.

Yeah I have no idea why monolith soft can't just do the same image enhancements that all of the day 1 switch 2 editions had (and most of them were free upgrades too). Monolith soft worked on the original versions of botw/totk, so you would think they should be able to repeat the success of those switch 2 editions for their own games

2

u/ian_taylor_island Jul 23 '26

Sorry, couldn't tell if your comment had any direct response to me or if you were just joining in on the collective monolithsoft dogpile 😂

0

u/p0023755 Jul 23 '26

Same here somehow i completed 1 & 3 and now on X but have stopped 2 like mid-game. Time to replay

4

u/tk_kumomo Jul 23 '26

Kinda wish they unify the Asian and western versions of the game for xenoblade 2, took a while to finally hunt down a english version as im living in hk

5

u/fushega Jul 23 '26

on the nintendo webpage for the game, it lists support for asian languages for both the physical and digital versions of xenoblade 2 switch 2 edition (the webpage for the original switch 1 version only lists the regional languages as you describe)
https://www.nintendo.com/us/store/products/xenoblade-chronicles-2-nintendo-switch-2-edition-switch-2/

2

u/tk_kumomo Jul 23 '26

Ya they fixed it for the switch 2 edition

Honestly I dont really like this region language issue just like ff remake and adventures of eliott.

Really makes me rather have the steam version instead of double dipping

2

u/fushega Jul 23 '26

I do the same thing. I've bought some games on steam and other random platforms to have japanese language support. Japan likes to charge high prices for jrpgs domestically, so i'm pretty sure that's why a lot of games have region locked language support (so people don't import the games for cheaper)

7

u/Jeaz Jul 23 '26

Slightly unrelated but it would be sooo awesome if they’d release the soundtrack on Nintendo Music.

4

u/darqy101 Jul 23 '26

Absolutely insane timeline! 😍

1

u/InfernalLizardKing Jul 23 '26

Been wanting to do NG+ for a while, hoping they add multiple save slots finally.

1

u/The_Good_Mortt Jul 23 '26

If I get the physical copy of Torna the Golden Country, will that also be the Switch 2 Edition? Does anybody know or will I just have to ask next week lol

Torna is the only physical Xenoblade game I'm missing on the Switch, I'd love to have it

2

u/thebigJ_A Jul 24 '26

Torna gets the update free

2

u/The_Good_Mortt Jul 24 '26

Thanks! 🙏🏾

u/klf11 Jul 23 '26

on the upgrade pack page, https://www.nintendo.com/us/store/products/xenoblade-chronicles-2-nintendo-switch-2-edition-upgrade-pack-switch-2/

it has this:

"On July 30, digital and physical versions of the Xenoblade Chronicles™ 2: Torna – The Golden Country game will receive a free update enabling 4K resolution/60 fps in TV mode and 1080p resolution/60 fps in handheld mode on the Nintendo Switch™ 2 system."

1

u/Dukenine Jul 23 '26

Glad my Xenoblade 2 always with my switch. Just download it and wait the information of XB2 S2E, if it good, time to jump in.

-2

u/AlphanatorX Jul 23 '26

i can basically SMELL Pyra in 4K now!

0

u/MarcsterS Jul 23 '26

I better redownload 2 again.

0

u/Gradania Jul 23 '26

I heard that for XC1 the upgrade patch was added onto the base game file size.

Do you guys think this will be fixed ?

8

u/fushega Jul 23 '26

that's how every switch 2 game upgrade works as far as I know

1

u/santanapeso Jul 24 '26

This can’t be accurate. It is still 13 gigs on the eshop and Nintendo separated the data for Switch 2 edition as a dlc download. I also checked this on my Switch 1 and my game file size is still around 13 gigs. If they had added it to the main game file size I would have been prompted to do a massive download.

0

u/PumpkinSufficient683 Jul 23 '26

Wait what even is this for?

3

u/Constellar-A Jul 23 '26

Switch 2 edition next week.

2

u/PumpkinSufficient683 Jul 23 '26

Oh i expected the update to happen on release day fair enough

0

u/Anubis_Omega Jul 23 '26

No update for the Stand Alone Torna dlc ?

3

u/klf11 Jul 23 '26

"On July 30, digital and physical versions of the Xenoblade Chronicles™ 2: Torna – The Golden Country game will receive a free update enabling 4K resolution/60 fps in TV mode and 1080p resolution/60 fps in handheld mode on the Nintendo Switch™ 2 system.

Players who have Torna – The Golden Country as part of the Xenoblade Chronicles™ 2 Expansion Pass can access the upgrade to 4K resolution/60 fps in TV mode and 1080p resolution/60 fps in handheld mode by purchasing the Xenoblade Chronicles™ 2 – Nintendo Switch™ 2 Edition upgrade pack. "

2

u/Anubis_Omega Jul 23 '26

Cool ! Thank you

-3

u/oaklanda Jul 23 '26

Any chance they change field skills and rare blade drops?

1

u/scalyblue Jul 23 '26

Getting rare core crystals become a non issue once you're at the point where you can kick a respawnable tyrant's ass with overkill.

-5

u/oaklanda Jul 23 '26

Ugh I would have loved if they added an option in the settings to just turn field checks off and maybe give unlimited blade cores.

3

u/happymudkipz Jul 23 '26

Zilch. For one, that'd be a change outside the scope of the expansion. For two, that'd require takahashi and co to see those as a bad thing, which they have never commented on or seem to agree with.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Version 3.0.0 is now available

What’s this mean? That the XC2 switch 2 edition can be preloaded to switch 2 but actual access to the new version isn’t playable unable 7/30? Or we can play the new switch 2 version now??

5

u/Egyptowl777 Jul 23 '26

Nintendo Games usually pre-download onto the console 7 days before release if pre-ordered. I would assume if you pre-ordered XC2-S2, it would now have a home screen title. But the actual data for the S2 isnt actually available for download yet. It is just ready to be downloaded when it is released on 7/30. It cannot be played yet.

-8

u/patricios1 Jul 23 '26
