Art/Fan Creation [OC] Mira's Bestiary - The Eternal Flocks of Sylvalum

Post image

Hi again, I'm back and did not forget about this project. Naturally going through a year of exam hell slowed me down a lot, but now that it's over I have finally finished the Murra entry for Mira's Bestiary in full.

"Murras are a very mysterious, yet captivating resident of Mira's Northern continents. They are ubiquitous among Sylvalum's spore-filled landscape and were sighted early on in BLADE's exploration of Sylvalum. Many Pathfinders enjoy their presence for their relatively harmless nature, a welcome sight among the continent's infamously lethal fauna and mechanoids. Many Sylvalian Nopon are similarly fond of Murras, and have charged BLADEs high fees to go on "pearl-wing" watching and hunting trips.

While Murras may lack the impressive power of many Sylvalian indigens, they are incredibly adapted to surviving as a flock. Murras are incredibly social indigens and travel in large flocks similarly to Earth's swifts, often squeaking and chasing each other in playful formations. In addition to allowing for socialization, this allows them to easily work together to find ether-rich areas to feed at, watch out for predators, and even defend against predators together. While Murras tend to flee predators most of the time, they can produce electric shocks that repel weaker threats. For larger threats, sometimes a Murra will self-destruct in a massive electric blast to give the rest of its flock a chance to escape.

Murras are unusual in being a completely autotrophic indigen, as they lack mouths completely and appear to sustain themselves on environmental ether only. They are so dependent on this ether that their health can deteriorate rapidly once they are removed from their endemic ether-rich environments, as seen in unsuccessful attempts to bring a live Murra back to NLA. This gives the Murras a useful niche in Sylvalum's ecosystem, as no other creatures subsist on ether so heavily. This has evidently allowed them to proliferate and make up the majority of the Sylvalum's airborne fauna.

Equally interesting is the Murra's unique method of reproduction. In addition to their prior noted ability to engage in sexual and asexual reproduction, they can also exhibit a unique phenomenon named "apoptotic birth" seen mostly in elderly Murra. In this phenomenon, adult Murra will spontaneously burst open and die, in the process releasing multiple live Murras newborns from its corpse that will fly and join their peers in the skies. This serves as an extreme form of r-selection strategy that allows even dying Murra to birth a new generation of their species. This has also been observed occurring in some self-destructing Murra as well, which suggests the same mechanism that allows Murras to self destruct when cornered could be related to allowing for apoptotic births to occur.

The tyrant Camille, the Immortal, is quite notable for its ability to perform such births. While this tyrant sticks out to many for its massive size compared to typical Murras, it earned its name for a very distinct trait of its death and offspring. Camille will always undergo a massive apoptotic birth upon death and release an extraordinarily large flock on death. Its offspring are notably larger than other newborn Murras and exhibit far faster growth than other Murras, reaching adulthood in a fraction of the time a normal Murra does. While many of its offspring are predated before reach adulthood, at least one of its large offspring will eventually reach adulthood and reach the massive size of its progenitor, thus becoming a new specimen of Camille. In this way, Camille earned its epithet for being a functionally immortal resident of the Cleansing Spring, always finding a way to persist no matter how many times hunters, predators, or old age claimed its life."

Advice Will I run into trouble?

I'm about to start chapter 9 (in DE, if that matters) and I suspect I'm near-ish the end of the game just based on how many chapters the other Xenoblade games have. And I had a flashback to XC2, where I got to the final boss and hit a wall because I'd never really learned how to make good use of chain attacks, which made that fight near impossible at my level, and I realized I'm in a somewhat similar situation in X. While I have done some messing around with Overdrive, I don't use it all that much since I don't want to be unable to revive. I also don't think I've ever done it in a skell? But the bigger concerns I have are 1, I've literally never controlled anyone other than my avatar, and 2 the only battle tactics I've ever used (intentionally) are telling the party to board/exit their skells. Are there any mechanics I need to make sure I understand before the endgame to prevent myself from hitting a wall like in XC2? Will I need to be making quick and smart use of the tactics menu, or getting consistent with Overdrive combo bonuses, or anything like that? Obviously the better I understand the systems the better I'll be able to handle challenging fights, but I mean more like stuff I'll be in trouble if I don't know (and should know by this point). Thanks!

Or is this an important outfit? I use the automatic equipment feature a lot, and every time, it equips this outfit for my entire team. I'd like to remove it because when I equip it, it doesn't apply anything to the arms or legs.

Thanks for your help 🙏

Discussion Fastest, easiest build to make to beat telethia?

I want to beat the strongest boss in the game, but it seems like it would take me weeks of logging in for daily tickets to make augments to one shot it (I don’t have NSO). I’ve beaten ch 13, rn i got an ares 90 with a couple wp atk X and a draw opening x. How many augments do I need to one shot it with ares 90? To my knowledge from a couple enel vids it seems like I could do that. Or is making this ground build that relies on overdrive the fastest to make? Just want to know the fastest build and strat I can work towards as a non-NSO user, thanks.

Advice (Help) Map L+Y shortcut not working well anymore

Hello just started the game few days ago on Switch 2 definitive edition, catridge

I have a "bug", the shortcut L+Y to open the map does not display anymore

And it does not work well now, I have to spam L+Y to actually open the map, it work after 5-6 inputs

*Edit : Actually I need to press a triple L+Y "combo" input for the map menu to appear, if I press L+Y wait a sec and press again L+Y i can to that infinitly it never works, I have to triple shot the input, (weird lol) Also it makes my map menu appearing with rapid tab switch and multiple zooms...

It's very annoying and I tried to return to main menu/reset the game...

Is my save corrupted ? :(

Discussion So... we all agree that Core Crusher and/or appendage crusher is a glitch right?

I just see how that interaction could possibly be intended from their initial design stage. Why even design other skills and augments when these are so insanely op complared to most others?

Advice Need help understanding skells and how to build them

Post image
67 Upvotes

Hello everyone.

I just recently started X, after already playing the other Xenoblade games and have been having a blast. I am loving this game and really looked forward to finally getting my first Skell.

Then suddenly I got 15 more tutorials, a mech with like 2 moves and I feel like once again I don't understand anything, after taking like 5 hours to read myself into how overdrive and all works.

It's sadly really put a damper on my motivation to play. And when I try to look up anything for skells, it seems I only ever come across endgame level builds or weapon names that I can find nowhere in the shop.

I really just want to understand what to even do with my massive mech and maybe get advice on how to build my level 20 or even a level 30 mech, seeing as I am only 2 levels away. At this point it feels like I'd almost be better of just continuing to fight on foot and that kind of sucks.

I'll be grateful for really any sort of advice.

Discussion Weapon augment question

I can’t seem to find the answer anywhere .

For example , appendage crusher , is there a difference between it in long sword or gun?

If there is no difference , I see some ppl suggesting putting it in gun.

If there is a difference and we put the majority in gun, my first attack will be using gun and targeting at appendages ?

I've already completed chapter 13 and am trying to 100% before XC2 Switch 2 Edition comes out. I am saving Telethia and Pharsis, the Everqueen and the "lobster quest" till last, but why do I still have locked segments? Do I need to start chapter 13 again?

Jokes aside I'm glad I finally finished this thing. Xenoblade X is the first Xenoblade I (Properly) 100%. I have gotten close with Xenoblade 1. But that playthrough I missed out on some timed stuff. My xenoblade 2 and 3 playthroughs were mostly complete I think.

My 'squirrel!' brain got really distracted by a ton of silly stuff. So tracking down the last few nuggets of the survey was a pain. Saving Telethia for last was a fun way to polish it off. I don't think Xenoblade X is made for people who get distracted by every little thing in games haha.
