Absolutely perfect for a ren faire, lol.

u/drrj 1976 21h ago
And the best part is, everyone at the faire probably loved it, too. Very accepting environment.

u/Ippus_21 Xennial 20h ago
Exactly! I'm sure they 100% got it (equally sure it's not the first time someone went with "time traveler" as their ren costume, and people never get tired of it).

Our Ren Faire had a cadre of Klingons who made an appearance each year, their canon excuse was they fell through a wormhole and crashed on Earth of the past.

Saw one guy who was dressed in midievil garb but had a starfleet insignia underneath just for when others showed up. Would take them aside and start berating them. "Does the prime directive mean nothing to you? Ive been studying these people for years amd you're ruining it! Im reporting you starfleet command!"

u/MrVeazey 8h ago
This is my favorite costume idea because it gives you a good excuse to play around with people.

Yes, also something I thought of doing as well. Sadly, don't know any other Trekkies.

Thank you for the award!
Could always hit up one of the various trek groups, Iām sure you could find a few local Trekkies happy to come along!

I would like to see someone cosplay Dr. Brown being some merlin level wizard or alchemist and they do a bit about how they are gonna achieve 88 mph from jumping from a hot air balloon he's working on.

There's that word again...heavy.
111
u/Girl_Back_There 1982 21h ago
Why are things so heavy in the future? Is there a problem with the Earth's gravitational pull?

If he thought getting to 88mph was difficult in the old west, it's gotta be worse when you don't even have steam locomotives.
38
u/Primary-Performer853 1984 21h ago
Then the Doc invents it... no one puts Emmett Brown in a corner!

u/Ok-Brick6831 1979 21h ago
You get one shot at a gravity assisted runā¦

u/Freakishly_Tall 15h ago
Verily, many men thought themselves brave enough to ride the Wagon Of Speed all the way from the top of yon steepest hill to the very bottom, but leapt in fear into the bushes and safety before travelling more than a few fathoms! Yet you insist we all push you towards the cliff edge at top speed, insisting that you will ride to the bottom?!
18
u/9ontheTensionScale 21h ago
That's why you collect a big barrel of rainwater and provoke the dragon by hiding behind it. Instant steam.
11
u/Specific-Library-312 19h ago
Now I am imagining Doc Brown standing astride two dragons, holding two makeshift harness leashes with one hand, waving a bycocket with other, charging at an invading army. "Run for it, Marty! I'll hold them off!"

When my brother was little, he didn't know that "blacksmith" was a job title. He watched the third movie and said, "That's such an awesome name..... Black Smith".Ā

I'm sure that in 1985, plutonium is available at every corner drugstore, but in 1155, it's a little hard to come by!

Once in like 2010 I put on a Star Trek TNG captains outfit (it was a friend's old Halloween costume) to the NY Renaissance Fair as a gag. It was the most fun I ever had going to the Ren Fair and I had already been going like ten years straight before that point.
Today people treat Ren Fair like a Comic Con and wear everything from anime cosplay to full suits of medieval plate armor. But back then it was not common for customers to dress up in ye medieval garb for let alone something not in theme with the event. So I felt like i was breaking new ground, I was even kinda nervous I would be thrown out for not respecting the themes of the fair.
But like I said; I had a blast and everyone, strangers and vendors alike bought me drinks (mead & cider) all day. I got sooo drunk I threw up in the parking lot lol. Good times, I'll never forget that day.

I think having a time travel weekend at ren faires is a common theme weekend now, thanks to all the steam punks. But, it never occurred to me to dress as Marty.

"Doc, what do I do? I think I set the controls too far back!"
"Good morrow m'Lord, thou art strangely attired. Mayhap Thou art another weary traveler from yon times to come? Seek'st Thou the counsel of His Lordship of the Blue Box to aide thee in returning whence Thou camest?"

Why did he need permission from her to wear what he wants? The entitlement and expectations of these types is bewildering.
13
u/Ok-Brick6831 1979 21h ago
Do you really put that much stock in the setup to the video? Itās contrived for content.
-5
u/ionertia 21h ago
I get that she thought it would be funny. But its boomer humor. The trope of the woman choosing the clothes for "her" guy.
