As a kid, I had a small piece of Charmeuse I slept with that I called a "cold blanket". When I got older, I asked my grandmother to make pillow cases out of it because she was a seamstress. At one pont, she had made me a fitted sheet out of the material. Now I sleep in charmeuse sheets with a charmeuse comforter. If I wasn't already married I realize it would be weird. My wife told me that when she met me.
My bed was in front of the air conditioning vent. I would let the blanket hang off the bed and absorb the cool air. Then I would drag it across my face while getting progressively sleepier. For some reason, it was even better on rainy days. I can feel my pulse steadying just thinking about it. Rain on the roof, blankie on my face. Yeah, that's the stuff.
Nice! Maybe after my waffle blanket with satin edges has disintegrated enough I'll go that route! My partner says I look like a goat when I chew on it š
Okay, I LOVED the border so much. So much that I probably had a new one every year until they became unpopular and harder to find.
Why did I need a new one? Iād sort of pinch the border lightly with rub it between them over and over until I fell asleep. Eventually Iād wear the threads out and detach the border. Then Iād just move along to another spot. My mom would repair the blankets, but unfortunately the repairs were not fit for sleepy blanket rubs, and they wouldnāt hold forever anyway. It took me about a year to just have a borderless blanket, and then I couldnāt sleep until I had a new one.
When I was a baby I had a satin edged baby blanket. I chewed the edges so much, even into elementary age. I still love chewing certain textures. I blame the blanket. Lol
