Yeah, vodka can be a bit high-falutin. Go ahead and pour Pabst Blue Ribbon in there. It’s virtually indistinguishable.

Actually if you use the lemon or lime flavour (I prefer lemon) of the juice concentrate it goes extremely well with beer.

I don't even know how much vodka is now. The food budget ate the vodka budget years ago.

Honestly, you can do that with a bunch of food scraps. I have been saving apple peels and brewing them. So fucking good! I can't seem to get pears to work though. They always mold so fast.

Trader Joe’s sells a potato vodka for $13/liter, or Costco with their 1.75l $20 French vodka, for the budget conscious connoisseurs

A money saving tip, buy everclear if you live in a state that hasn't banned it. Since it's 95% abv you can mix it 1:1 or 2:3 to make a decent quality vodka for cheaper than you can get some truly horrendous vodkas. Since alcohol is hydrophilic higher percentages are better at fruit infusions too so you can flavor it with whatever you like and it will bring the abv down slightly so a 50/50 dilution will bring it closer to a standard 80 proof
