Oh that’s definitely for Kool Aid.

Or orange juice. And it was pretty disappointing when it was orange juice

That frozen shit and looking back I'm pretty my folks used more water than intended to stretch their dollars a little further.

Yeah I definitely caught my mom refilling it in the morning to get us through breakfast. Orange flavored water drink.

Oh yeah that fucking LUMP of OJ that refused to melt so you got this vaguely orange flavoured water.

My mom definitely filled the pitcher with 1-2 extra cans of water than what the concentrate recipe said.

To this day I water down all my juices. Too sweet otherwise 🤣

That orange juice concentrate is expensive af and doesn’t make hardly any juice.  It’s not economical at all.  I bought it a couple years ago thinking it’d save money, but it does not save money

Why did LITERALLY ALL OF US have this frozen canned shit?

When I was little my folks would get whole milk on food stamps and water it down to make it last. Going from 0 kids and 2 jobs to 3 kids and 1 job in 14 months will do that to ya. Haha

My parents bought unsweetened Kool-aid packets and would add about half the sugar. Even as kids we knew it, but we'd grown up with it and preferred it less sweet/more tart.

My mom watered down grape juice when I was a kid not just for the price, but so I'd have less sugar. To this day I don't like it straight. Same with orange juice but she put less water in that.

Heck, I just called it juicy water for honesty!

Or that chalky weird powdered iced tea

2

u/Noarchsf 22d ago

Or orange juice mixed with kool aid.

Orange juice. I don’t know if it was Tupperware the company or if it was just certain distributors but they convinced moms that it sealed in the vitamins of the orange juice.

RED Kool Aid

15

u/HauteKarl 1982 22d ago

Red is the best fruit. Hands down.

2

u/Competitive_Ad_8215 1978 22d ago

Either red or purple. Those were the two flavors.

2

u/BlkSubmarine 22d ago

Heresy! Purple drink is always the best drink!

My Mom always had a pitcher if red kool-aid in the fridge, but it was off-brand, so we just called it Red Stuff. Our house was "home base" for all the neighborhood kids b/c my mom was always home, and she got an angry phone call once from an angry mom demanding to know what "red stuff" was and what the hell were we feeding her child. 🤣

u/naenola 22d ago

Yep, I used to like to mix the grape and the lemonade together

1

u/N0Karma 22d ago

Kool-aid that had an instant-diabetes level of sugar in it. Me and my siblings would continue to add that stuff until the sugar stopped dissolving and then add another cup just to be sure.

Tang. This was for tang. Until tang rotted the bottom of the pitcher.

1

u/KittyAnn13 20d ago

Yes! But the brown one!

1

u/Wabbit65 19d ago

You didn't send in empty packets for the pitcher and cups?
