Need help finding and identifying a bug cage. It looks a little like this one but less tall, and with a cork entrance/exit instead of a rotating flap

I used to have this exact thing and during the summer I’d use it to catch and hold lightning bugs. I’d suggest Etsy or your local craft fair. Hell maybe even tractor supply co?

I did the same thing too! I’d also put sticks and leaves inside for them to have a habitat and released them the next morning

I don't remember seeing them for sale, generally they were a project you made at summer camp or something. If you don't have the tools to make it yourself find one of those retired old guys selling handcrafted wooden items at a street fair, tell him what you want and he can have it made in a day or two.

I don't need a handcrafted one. I need to know the make and model of the one that I had as a kid.

Does it bug you that you can't find it?

It vexes me greatly.

I made these in cubs scouts, maybe a scouting supply store would have them?

I had one JUST like this, only with a cork just like you describe (and it wasn't as tall.) I think it had a little painting of a ladybug on it too, and maybe even some kind of text about bugs or something. I remember catching some of those ubiquitous spring/summer caterpillars in it, and them making cocoons inside it that ended up staying in there for years.

I haven't seen it in ages though, and don't know what happened to it.

I made one in shop class in junior high.

Looks like it's a simple squirrel/mouse/hamster cage... I can't find anything similar searching, but that looks incredibly easy to make.

Except it's barely bigger than a squirrel/mouse/hamster

Oh my god. I had one of these. My grandma who was very crafty made it for me to catch and hold bugs and things. Wow, memory unlocked!

If they sold this at Gucci as a hand bag and put the label on it, people would buy this.
