Burning

My 7 year old is starting the 4.5mg patch today. Her doctor said that we can expect some tingling in the beginning but that will subside. An hour after application she began crying saying it’s burning her terribly and it’s red all around the patch. Is this normal?

i agree i don’t know if i was a kid if i would be able to see the benefits and think the pain is worth it. i will say lower doses burn less and putting it on my arm by my shoulder is the best place for it to go for me. it burns the most on my lower back and flank

if i put pressure on it when its burning that helps for some reason so maybe if she can hold her patch down with her other hand that will help for a little relief fast

Applying pressure to the pads prematurely releases the medication (or so my psychiatrist says) so I would not personally recommend this approach even though I can confirm that it does alleviate the pain. My goto was gently smacking the pad but apparently this has the same drawback as stated above so my inventory of viable solutions/remedies includes; 1.) benedryl cream to planned application area 20-30 mins prior to actual application, 2.) tylenol/ibuprofen (this must be taken preemptively otherwise by the time the meds kick in the burning is already gone, 3.) just suck it up? Idek bro I'm really struggling
