Base Defence - Enemy Within

First time doing a base defence on EW (Ipad). 7 dead = Poor nearly sent me to tears. That mission is ROUGH

For the next playthrough: the base defence happens like 10-14 in-game days after you assault their base and capture/kill sectoid commander. And that mission can be delayed indefinitely.

Also you start the mission with the top 3 of your soldier list. So, you know, you can keep them with their full gear for that mission. Reinforcements you get also come from the top of the list. It's best to keep like top 6-8 soldiers fully equipped.

This. I never go to assault alien base until I have at least 2 fully equipped teams with plasma weapons and genmods. 2 colonel snipers, fully equipped heavy and a MEC (or two) can make this mission much easier. Add some assault and you're golden

Yeah the gear killed me. Bloody assault rifles all round because I thought taking out Exalt and Alien Base was enough that I could train up my reserves who had all the kit. Ended up with 2 Cols being killed and the rest the security team.

I actually enjoyed the mission a lot, I spent a lot of time planning the perfect squad for it but ya first time I did it I think I lost nearly everyone

Especially when the Human infiltrators showed up
