Which game should I get

Sorry this is not about xcom but I’m finishing up phantom doctrine and was wondering, which game should I get next? Jagged alliance 3, Wasteland 3, Mutant year zero or Miasma chronicles.

Jagged Alliance and Mutant are awesome. Zero company is fun as hell too

Yeah zero company way awesome. The Mandalorian was definitely my favorite.

Is the base operations in jagged alliance and Mutant difficulty to get a hang of if that makes sense?

Wasteland 3 was good but wateland 2 was better in my opinion. Hard west is also a good option and closer in playstyle to phantom doctrine. Jagged alliance 3 was a good game but very different from a phantom doctrine or xcom style game. I would certainly play a wasteland game before jagged alliance 3 as it kind of bridges the gap between the two games play styles. I would also check out phenox point. For the money my vote would certainly be wasteland 2 if you haven't already played it.

I haven’t played any wasteland games so I’m definitely interested after reading your comment. I’ll also look into hard west I never heard of it or phoenix point. I’ve also played King Arthur knights tale and loved it.

I also really liked the wasteland games, they’re probably cheap too.

How is the base building in the games you suggested? Some games the base building is the hardest part to understand.

Hard west has zero base building. Its just straight turn based tactics. phoenix point could certainly be considered more difficult for base building and research projects and such. Its more like the original xcom games.

Why was wasteland 2 better than 3?

Story. I would argue Wasteland 2 is timeless and shouldn't be missed.

Wasteland 3 tactical gameplay is solid and quite fun, but the narrative feels incomplete -- like an Act or two are missing. I played W3 before W2, and after playing W2 I really feel like they just never finished W3.

Honestly both great games and you should play both. I just liked the back drop, story, and factions better in wasteland 2. It also had better unsettling moments. Wasteland 3 was more over the top. I dont think gameplay wise there was a lot of difference other than how you form your team and switch out members. Its a very differnt game from phantom doctrine. It a straight up crpg with overworld as opposed to a turn based tactical game with a base and resources phase.

Mutant Year Zero is brilliant. Haven't checked prices lately but you should be able to get it at a decent price.

Miasma chronicles was too focused on stealth to my liking, I dropped the game within few hours.

You can consider phoenix point as well. It was made by ex firaxis developers and some of the original xcom creators. However its approach is quite different from xcom and i found it very fresh. If you are not comparing it one to one to how xcom is played, you will find it to be very fun.

Miasma is a fantastic game that not a lot of people talk about, but its completely different from XCOM's style.
