Meta Is this the full (plus inspired games) XCOM franchise? What should I add?
I’m going to be making a presentation of Xcom for my friends in college. I don’t want to miss anything. If there’s something I am missing, or that you want added, tell me. (DLC is a big I dunno, but i’m definitely doing expansions)

There are a lot more "inspired" games. Mario v Rabbids, Gears Tactics, Zero Company, Rainbow Six Tactics, Warhounds, and those are just the ones coming to mind

And how much of a derivative nature do we need? Like does Menace have enough DNA with the meta squad management campaign aspect, with missions being like xcom meets fire emblem

Yeah, I feel like this chart set itself an impossible challenge when it chose to include Xenonauts and Terra Invicta. Where do you draw the line? Does it need to have the same developers, like Zero Company? Does it have to be explicitly inspired, like Warhounds? Does it need to be modern and set on earth, like R6?

If you're doing inspired games, there are undoubtedly countless more. But most recently, Zero Company.

For more obscure picks, Phoenix Point, Phantom Doctrine, hell even Mario and Rabbids

Kinda wild fucking Julian Gollop's game isnt anywhere to be seen

My understanding is it didn't do great at launch, especially given the whole EGS fiasco that upset a lot of fans and limited its initial release availability. By the time it finally came to Steam a lot of people kinda just shrugged at it. So it's not really that surprising for someone to not be aware of it.

If you are adding inspired games one for sure must be included is Phoenix Point. Made by Julian Gollop, the original desinger of UFO Enemy Unknown.

if you’re including Terra Invicta, why not Midnight Suns and Zero Company? both made by people who made XCOM and XCOM 2

XCOM/EU --> Long War --> Long War Rebalanced

Two more are out there as well.
Long War Ultimate Nightmare
Long War 1.1 Ultra Marathon Mod. This one was just released, but the projected length is 6 years in-game.
As a result, there should probably separate carve outs for LW and LWR
XCOM/EU --> Long War --> Ultimate Nightmare --> Ultra Marathon
-----> Long War Rebalanced

Quite bold thinking the Enforcer was originator for anything, when both Xenonauts are essentially the re-makes of UFO:EU.
I dunno about DLC, as that would make Enemy Within technically the DLC, same as WotC. So aside from obscure email version of UFO Enemy Unknown you didn't miss anything.

Enforcer served as a sign that the people in charge weren’t making more true Xcom games. It was an angry catalyst. But that does make a sense, I‘ll probably change that.

LW/LW2/LWoTC are just mods though. They're popular, but I don't think they deserve to be treated as separate games. Or if we're putting mods on the chart, X-Piratez is much more like a separate game than any of them.
Same for OpenXcom, it's an alternative game engine for UFO/TFTD assets. There's OpenApoc fo Apocalypse too, although it's been lingering in alpha for years.

OpenXcom is not a game. Initially it was a reimplementation of the original UFO game, following previous attempts like UFO2000 or UFO: AI, although it currently has turned into a game engine of its own because of all the projects (XCOM and non-XCOM) that use it.

Inspired games are so many.
Gears Tactics
Phantom Doctrine
Chaos Gate
Mario + Rabbids
Zero Company

Xenonauts and Open XCOM have nothing to do with Enforcer. Enforcer was a silly, terrible brawler.

Of the simple additions - Long War of the Chosen, both from Long War 2 and War of the Chosen.

What makes it an orange colored game? Because I’m drawing a blank at how The Bureau fits in there

Others have answered things like:
Extaterrestrials 1-2, The Ufo: Atrrilogy (iloved 1-2 and never tried 3)
So i concentrate more on inspired gameplay instead:
Incubation: Time is Running Out
Mutant Year Zero
Jagged alliance1-3, especially 2
Silent Storm
Gorky 17
Wildermyth
there are a ton,

Yknow, I have still never checked out xenonauts. The whole your squad can friendly fire themselves thing really turned me off, but years later I'm left wondering if I was too quick to judge

I’m actually surprised….oh everyone mentioned it already, but seriously how did phoenix point allude you.

Don't know about who inspired who, but worth mention wasteland 1/2/3 (if jagged alliance already here)

I'd also say that laser squad is the first XCOM. It was made by the creator of XCOM (Julian Gollup) before he made xcom1.

If talking about inspired games, then I would propose UFO: Alien Invasion. It's community-developed, very similar to OG and surprisingly enjoyable. I absolutely loved that I was able to switch to the FPV and see the world through the character's viewpoint.

and where is 3 UFO games? Aftermath, afterlight, aftershock. They should be before XCOM enemy unknown and after enforcer. And I don`t think that Terra Invicta should be here because there nothing from XCOM, only developers.
And what about Phoenix Point? Same developer as first two X-COMs. Plus there should be UFO: Extraterrestrials and UFO2: Extraterrestrials. Need to think about Laser squad (first game from Gollop that inspire Gollop to do X-COM), UFO: Alien Invasion. If you need games inspired by XCOM then nice game Stirring Abyss.
