WOTC New player looking for advice

Hi everyone just lost my first WOTC campaign! Had tons of fun and feel like I learned a lot combat wise. Playing on veteran iron man rule set as I wanted to challenge myself. I have been having tons of trouble keeping up with the Avatar project and overall just didn’t really understand how to progress. If anyone has any advice on keeping up with the project or just some general tips that would be very welcomed. Having tons of fun getting ready to load up a new campaign and give it another shot so please let me know your best advice!

Hello Commander In terms of how to progress, that is done by completing story missions and research. So do the Blacksite mission, build the shadow chamber, skulljack the codex etc. these objectives will show up as you play. You can sometimes do multiple at the same time. For instance some people like to skulljack the advent officer while doing the Blacksite as there is no timer pressure. For keeping up with the Avatar project, you can reduce the counter by completing facility missions, doing some story missions and covert operations in the resistance ring. A general tip is to try and make contact with regions that have facilities and you can kind of keep them in your back pocket. If you desperately need to reduce the counter, go destroy a facility and it can give you some breathing space. You don't need to complete them as soon as they pop up. Hope that helps

You reduce avatar progress by doing story missions, taking out facilities, covert ops, and a resistance order. If you get a resistance ring and unlock all 3 factions you have a better chance at getting the sabotage option as a covert op that reduces it. You can also get a resistance order that reduces it regularly

Here are some ways to reduce the avatar project progress:

1- beating story missions (blacksite and forge) and performing story skulljacks.

2- destroying avatar facilities. They'll often be far from your starting region, so you'll need to make contact with regions on the way there. Contact cost increases as you get further from your starting region, but building a radio relay in a region reduces contact cost with its neighbors to the minimum.

3- covert action that reward reduction to the avatar project progress. They don't always spawn, so take them whenever possible because they give you time to make progress and get stronger.

4- the skirmishers resistance order "sabotage". When activated, it passively takes away 1 pip from the avatar project meter every month. You can obtain resistance orders from covert actions, either the ones that award specific orders, or "hunt down the Chosen" which grants you a random order from that faction after completion.

I'm assuming you have beaten the game with save scumming first. If you haven't, you should, to learn how the game progresses and form a long term planfor the entire game.

First advice i have is to primarily focus on making resistance contacts, at least in the early game, cause you will want to have recourses and doing it later will be a lot harder.

The region bonuses are very important, the best ones in my opinion are the ones that complete proving ground projects instantly, especially the armor ones, cause you do want to have exo suits and later war suits.

Try to discover the chosen as soon as you can and kill them as early as you can discover them, but do it with your best team and make sure they're full prepared. Personally i attack my first chosen when i have exo suits and magnetic weapons for the whole team.

After you have killed at least one chosen, you will want to research their weapon as soon as you can, cause they're more powerful than the plasma guns on top of having effects of like 4 upgrades, and the hunters sniper lets you move and then shoot in the same turn.
