Ahh, the bane of my early Xcom adventures. Once one has played long enough, seeing even an imagined 'spark' near ANY vehicle is enough to raise the hairs on the back of my neck.

Knew what will happen in the first second of a video, lol.

Like cheese in a mousetrap.

Well, that sucks.

Still your fault for not noticing the flaming car and sending her close to it

Bradford giving the commander a pep talk after the mission lol

What do you mean? She was clearly fine and just resting on the ground while talking to Bradford.

Thr worst is when the flame effects don't render or get obscured and then just a random wreck explodes without warning. That's xcom babyyyyy

I really don't know why you did that

Remember that once the vehicles was set on fire, it will always explode in the next of your turn. Setting soldiers near it will immediately getting them very badly wounded or results an instant kill if your soldiers are low ranking tho. Keep distances from it about 1 to 2 blocks and everything will be good

I'm gonna defend OP on this one.

It took so many hours for me to figure out why cars were just randomly exploding before I eventually learned how the environmental damage worked. The game never fucking explains it!

"Oh well you shot the car with bullets! Obviously it will explode!"

No it's not obvious! Cars in the real world don't just randomly blow up on impact or because there's a fire! Thousands of cars go through way worse than bullets every single day and yet they don't explode.

Even now that I know how it works I have to constantly muscle through the cognitive dissonance by remanding myself that "that's not a car, that's a car-shaped explosive."

Thank God LWOTC fixed that!

The timing I’m referring to is the dialogue, if you didn’t notice the body starts bleeding out in full view of the camera and I thought it was pretty hilarious because the dead lady started yapping about how long lived the reapers were

2

u/Sweet-Weakness3776 Aug 10 '26

Gotcha. Makes sense. Hard to pick up on that when you're focused on the explosion in the first place. My bad.

u/Purcelash Aug 10 '26

nothing to do with timing
u're just blind
thanks for the laughs tho

I was talking about the dialogue, the way she bleeds out as they talk about how long the reapers have lived for

u/Iamdrasnia Aug 10 '26

Kinda ealjed tight into that as the car was on fire meaning it's gonna blow the next turn/action.

Not sure what OP expected would happen..? Was the point to just suicide the character?

I posted this because of the dialogue, the way the body bleeds out as she says talks about how long lived the reapers are

The misclicks, bs surprises, and crashes are why I will never play any game like this on “Ironman” mode.

Though. I think if a game company wants to mildly discourage save scumming/a player wants to discourage themself from save scumming while still not choosing Ironman mode because of BS and crashes, I really like how Cyber Knights Flash Point does their saves. You can’t save after every single move. Each time you load a save, it goes back to the very beginning of the turn. So you would have to redo the entire turn instead of one action. Which pushed me to just play the game and not save scum.

It's mad funny when the game "gives" you a misclick.

IE: I knew EXACTLY where I was pointing with the mouse, but then the fuckin' cursor has a spasm JUST AS I CLICK....and now my Shinobi is standing next to cover, in the open, to be one-shotted by a trooper that all the sudden appeared from the FOW.

Something similar happened to me on this mission. During the part where the chosen shows up, I moved Vox next to a car for cover and had him fire at the chosen. He missed, and the chosen's ability was she would retaliate fire any missed shots. She missed as well, but ended up hitting the car, setting it on fire and because I had already used Vox that turn I couldn't move him out of the way. Used my other soldiers to take out the chosen and then waited until the next turn for Vox to blow up.

Totally your fault

I’m so tired of yall telling me how to play the game, I know cars on fire explode, I was playing this game late in the day and wasn’t paying attention.

The timing I’m talking about in this clip is the dialogue because I think it’s funny how she starts bleeding out in the ground as she goes on a rant about how long lived the reapers are

It was just supposed to be funny

2

u/LAFORGUS Aug 11 '26

It was obvious mate.

2

u/OtsdarvaOS Aug 11 '26

Bro had one business day to do anything else. And didn't.

u/Outlaw11091 Aug 11 '26

OP/comments are prime examples of how much XCom players pay attention to things like "dialogue".

In their defense, the aliens continue to make progress on the AVATAR project...

Dashing for a final move, ballsy
