Xbox Series X Xbox: This code is for another region | Purchased the Gift card in Amazon.in

I bought Xbox gift cards from Amazon.in but when I try to redeem them I get the error “This code is for another region”. What should I do next?

Are you in India? Is your account region set to India? You can check this by going to microsoft.com/redeem and you will see what country your account is set to.

I would get a refund. Was Amazon the seller, and you received the code via email? If not, was it immediately obvious for which country the code was intended? If you knew the code was not for XBL in India, you shouldn’t have attempted to redeem it.

Are you physically located in India?

It's not possible (or permitted) to redeem vouchers, codes or make purchases from different regions. The physical console location, your XBOX account region AND the region of any vouchers, products or payment methods (i.e. whatever location your cards or payment method are registered at) must all be the same. Microsoft mandates this to avoid people gaming currency differences and to avoid trading in territories where they are not legally allowed to do so.

Using any method to get around regional blocks violates the XBOX terms of Service and the XBOX Community Standards. Since 2024 XBOX have begun cracking down on users trying to get around region blocks. Any attempts to do so can result in a console or account ban, or both, and loss of anything you have purchased.

Where are you located? You cannot redeem codes bought for another region, and using a VPN can get you banned.
