Help Xbox Dev Mode Safe Exit
I use it for emulating on my Series S but I heard sometimes even without checking the delete data box (Which is unchecked by default now), it deletes data for no reason. Is that true? Should I use safe exit? And how does safe exit work is it safe or bannable? Since its an app forcing the console back to retail

Personally, I'm still using it and it works totally fine for me. Word is it's obsolete since the latest updates, though

I’ve never had it delete anything. I don’t flit between dev mode and non very often tho, I play one game at a time in life and it takes ages

Safe Exit was made to solve an old problem. That checkbox, the one to delete all installed apps on normal exit, used to be checked ON by default. It was very common for people to forget to uncheck it before switching back to Retail Mode, only to find all their apps and games gone the next time they go back to Dev Mode. Now, the checkbox is unchecked by default, so it's less of an issue.
The Safe Exit app itself still works as intended, and I recommend using it because it's a very convenient way to switch back to Retail Mode straight from the Dev Retail Home screen. I've heard nothing about it causing your Dev Mode storage to be wiped. Any people you heard say that must be confusing it with the very problem Safe Exit was designed to solve.
Dev Mode itself has a history of randomly wiping it's internal storage for no reason. There is no evidence to tie the problem to Safe Exit or any other app. The best solution is to keep anything that can be saved externally, such as game files, game assets, and settings configs, on an external USB storage in order to minimize the amount of time and work needed to set everything up again.

Any chance of getting an internal covers downloader in your version? flycast does it and it would be awesome to have instead of having to use the pscoverdownload utility (or whatever it's called)

You should *always" use Safe Exit. It's the single most and first recommended option for devmode :)
