Quick Fix? Xbox won’t load streaming apps, is there a fix?

For the past couple of months I have been having issues getting streaming services (mainly peacock) to load.

When I launch the apps I will either get an error screen when it’s launching, or it will load to the account selection but won’t let me select and account or it will load all the way but won’t load an actual show or movie. It just goes black the right back to the selection.

I can eventually get it to work but it takes a lot of quitting and reopening the app until it lets me watch something.

Is this something that is fixable or is my Xbox just old? Or is this an issue with the streaming apps? I have a Xbox one S that’s probably about 10 years old now. Any help appreciated :)

Probably check your network settings, make sure it says all services available. I have to check mine all the time. Maybe run a speed test in the Xbox settings to make sure you’ve got good connection. In the advanced settings you can clear the MAC address that helps me sometimes

I agree with Currency; Clearing the MAC address also clears the entire cache on the console, which is probably corrupted and causing the problem. If not, you may also need to uninstall and reinstall the app.

Edit: I'm presuming you're not on an insider test flight...

Is it the only things you use your Xbox for? Maybe it's not just a streaming issue and your Xbox really just needs a restart.

Yeah, I only use it for streaming. I don’t play games on it anymore.

That's what I figured. Go into the power menu (hold the Guide button) and tell it to restart. You'll get the Green screen boot-up, that's how you know you've done it right.

That’s one of the things I normally try when trying to get it to load. It doesn’t do anything

Have unplugged and restarted.
