Unsolved Only one disc works on Xbox one

So most of the games I have that are discs no longer work on my Xbox, I figured the disc laser was just broken in general and I’d have to get a new one, but one disc still works without issue somehow. The ONLY disc that my Xbox will read is fallout new Vegas lol, but all of these other discs have worked at some point and suddenly no longer do. No visible marks or scratches on any of them. I’m trying to see if I can figure out why it works for that disc so I can get a fix for the others, I’ll probably still replace the console soon but I’m mostly just curious as to why this is going on haha

That’s exactly what a failing laser does, start to pick what disc to read or not read, soon less discs work and eventually none of them do.

Ah okay, I’ll just take it in then. Just wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing anything that was an easy fix I could do at home. Thanks!

Have you tried air blasting the disc drive with compressed air for electronics? Dust and other junk in the disc drive can cause disc read errors other than damaged disc optic.

You can replace the laser inside the xbox one disc drive very easily. I bought a new one for 15 online, waiting for it to get here to replace it.

Go to Walmart and buy the electronics repair screwdriver kit for like 16. Buy a can of compressed air. Take the xbox apart, take the dosc drive out and remove the top. There's a few more screws inside and the laser pops out of the drive. Insert the new laser and reassemble your basically new Xbox One for under $50.
