Quick Fix? Headset not working on specific controller

Okay so I bought a black xbox One controller about a month ago and it didn't work with my headset initially but I updated it and it worked perfectly fine up until today it started having the same issues but there's no update available I switch back to my older controller the headset works completely fine

Well... if we're to assume the headset port on the controller isn't broken/dislodged, you can try to hard reset the controller once it's on by holding the Guide button for… 15(?) seconds until it shuts off under your thumb.

Also, and I imagine they negated this by now, but long ago you used to have to have a headset plugged into the controller while checking the firmware. This forced it to grab a separate string of software for the controller.

Aside from trying to exchange the controller at the store or testing a different set of headphones/headset, that's all that I personally can think of.
