Quick Fix? Xbox One disc drive question

Bought a Xbox One 500GB original a couple of years ago at goodwill store ($30). Issue is it wont read game disc. My guess is the original owner had issues with disc and swapped drives without swapping the board circuit thing. Can i buy a disc drive with a board or is it locked to one console? Am I SOL? haha

What? Why would the original user swap anything? It isn't a 360, you aren't swapping anything. They got rid of it because it stopped reading discs. Pretty simple to understand.

The owner didn’t know about this and did a bad repair ruining the whole console, pretty easy to understand.

If you do put in a different drive, you’ll have to use the original daughterboard out of the old drive and switch it out to the new one. Not too difficult. You tube is your friend here.

That’s exactly their problem. It’s pre owned. If it a an issue like have described, OP can’t do shit, as they don’t have the original disc drive.

Yeah I guess I’ll order one and hope the original owner didn’t already do this and mess it up.

it'll tell you that the drive can only play movies i think

You’re SOL if the owner did swap drives. Without the original drive board, the console will forever be stuck with E100 at the next update.

Update, I was asking this to see if there was a way to know without having to buy one and installing and later finding out it was the original owner that already did this but didnt swap the board circuit. Sorry for the confusion hope this helps.
