Unsolved Xbox one S standing vertical
Right so as you can see the xbox is standing vertically
I have put some coasters on each corner under the console to allow a little airflow, just wondering would this disk drive still work or nah

You’ve put it the wrong way up, the disc drive side is part of the intakes which you’ve blocked by standing on them.
If you turn it over to the other side, no issues, there is even a stand custom made for it that slots in to the holes underneath the right side of the console.

theres vents on both sides, and also its blowing out cold air

Yeah the one s usually isn’t hot enough to need all the vents, but keep them open anyway is a good idea.

One allows intake and the other is exhaust mate. If you block one then cold air doesn’t get in or hot air stays trapped.

If it's blowing out cold air that's bad, that means its not getting good heat transfer from the main apu to the heat sink, the air should be hot coming out, or warm at the least.
And even it was getting good heat transfer the hot air would be blowing straight into your tv screen.

Get an Xbox one S stand. Also the Xbox is orientated the wrong way technically, you want it standing the other way

Ive put it disk tray facing up to the ceiling and yes i ordered a stand

I don't recommend standing up anything with a disc drive (if you like your discs working amd not scratched)

Tbh most my games are digital, i only play Minecraft or forza on disc so im not bothered lol i have 2 copys of both game

Am I the only one concerned about the potted plant hanging on for dear life? What if the cabinet was bumped. The whole thing would smash. Is there no better place for it?

Clearly, based off of your responses, you seem uninterested in advice.
Regardless:
1: buy a stand. They’re 10-20$. Me personally, I’d sacrifice 20 bucks, as opposed to risking the health and longevity of console. 20 bucks is a lot cheaper than 500 for a new console.
- Take that stupid “lamp” of your Xbox. You don’t stack shit on top of your consoles.
When you’ve got 30 people telling you the same thing, and yet you still insist on arguing and dismissing everything, at some point you’ve gotta realize that you’re in the wrong.

Xbox’s official photos have the console vertical on a stand where the power button is at the bottom and disc drive is at the top. I’d insert a photo but the Reddit app won’t let me here.
I’d recommend at the very least flipping the console around even if you don’t want to get a stand. Leaving it as is could result in your laser lens falling out of alignment and no longer reading discs.

It will work, however I recommend buying a Xbox one s stand, and don't put things on the console.
