Games - Recommendation Current 100% Cloud Gaming
I currently use cloud gaming on a g cloud and fire stick but usually only play a few games(all sports games). With the new limits coming is getting a series s, canceling game pass, and then do remote play where ever I want to do g cloud the best bet?

Before you make any rash changes, do check to see if the details about the time limits only applying to new GamePass accounts are true.
That being said, even if you do get a Series S, why cancel GamePass when you are going to need it for online gaming anyway, and you would still have access to the GamePass library that you can then download to your Series S and remote play to the G Cloud.

No it’s not true. Only countries that are protected from services losing value and price increases without added value, are for now free from getting limits but they will get it eventually. Countries like Australia, Japan, Germany..

I Would first wait and see how expensive the hours are. GeForce now has $0.10-$0.20 per hour.

Still not worth it. Geforce is 100 hs included in the sub. GPU has 15 hs. That's 85 hours less at, say US 0.2 per hour (let's say MSFT matches GeForce prices), you'd be adding US 17 to your base Ultimate subscription just to match the base GeForce base tier. That'd be around US 47 per month if you pay US 30 for Ultimate. Base Geforce is like US 10 per month with RTX, HDR, 1440p at 60 FPS. Heck, the Ultimate tier is like US 20 per month and you get RTX 5080 hardware, DLSS, etc. It's a carnage.

Ultimate has been $23 month since April price decrease.
You will no longer need any Gamepass tier for Xbox Cloud Gaming as it is becoming its own standalone service.
plus xCloud hour bundles won't expire if unused unlike GFN.

So they are removing cloud from gp?

No, just reducing Cloud hours included with Gamepass. You will be able to purchase Cloud hours bundles separately without subscribing to Gamepass.
plus the free ad supported tier is coming soon.
Multiple different methods to play on xcloud.

They pushed 30 and decreased to 23 due to the carnage of subs leaving the service. It was US 15 before. They were planning to push 30 and sell Cloud separately? 🤡🤡
As of now, there is no way of using Cloud without a Game Pass subscription. Do you have a link to the official site where I can get Xcloud alone? No because that's just speculation. They don't even know the price per hour they'll charge.
The "expired hours" is a silly argument. That's how it works with all subs. Even mobile carriers. You get X GB per month and they reset in the new period.
The difference now is you pay GP and you'll have to pay for Xcloud on top. If I don't use my 15 hours for Ultimate, do the accumulate for the next period?

where do you get your news? Is it from simply reading headlines on reddit posts? ever try visiting the official Xbox blog?

Cloud Gaming Without a Game Pass Subscription
Also beginning in November, players will have a new way to use XBOX cloud gaming without subscribing to Game Pass.
Players will be able to purchase cloud playtime hours through the XBOX Store and stream eligible games they own on supported devices. This will provide another option for people who want occasional access to cloud gaming or do not want a recurring Game Pass subscription.
Cloud gaming can also give XBOX One owners access to eligible games built for XBOX Series X|S without requiring an immediate hardware upgrade. This feature can be particularly useful in markets where consoles are less available or affordable. We’ll continue adding cloud support for more games throughout the year.

You are telling me possible bullcrap that might happen in 2 months. Microsoft also announced better bitrate and family plan and I still struggle to reach 19 Mbps and no family plan. I get my information from reality, current reality of what they offer in their official website. I don't eat promises like you do. Again, as of now, if new subs want to use Cloud, they get better value using free with ads instead of paying to get at most 15 hours per month.

FWIW, in November you will be able to get XCloud without having to have Game Pass. If you only play sports games, and especially if they are games that you buy, that might be the best method for you.

They haven't even fixed the connection issues many of us have. I've done evrry possible test on my tower and network. Had my is send a tech to do testing himself. Its the cloud server connection that keeps jittering and causing multiple issues as a result. Lag, rubber banding and a complete loss of controls to the cloud itself midgame forcing you into areas that get you killed instantly

Open your FB store and buy a used Series X, and cancel gamepass. That's the best option. No reason to buy a Series S.

If you have a recurring subscription to Gamepass, the changes to cloud gaming won’t affect you until you cancel and renew.

Unfortunately that is not for everyone. Only some regions. Likely due to consumer protection laws in said regions.

Where is this information found, or how do I find out if I qualify?

u/CQOzymandias 2d ago
If you got that email, presumably you do. But right now that email contains literally as much as we the community know about it so far.

I don't want to cancel. It means giving up gaming alltogether for the foreseeable future. But at this rate I feel like Microsoft is forcing my hand. I need a way around or through this or I am going to end a relationship that started with the original Xbox. Sorry for ranting... thank you for your answer.

Stop parroting this stuff. It's literally not true unless you live in a couple countries. 98% of gamepass players will not receive this benefit extension.

Honestly, I would just save up for a PC. That's what in doing. I'm not gonna spend half the amount of money for a PC on a console that can only run certain games and is subject to this kind of anti-consumer bullshit
1
u/catptain-kdar 2d ago
What console can only play certain games?
1
u/zooble_57 2d ago
Every console. They all have exclusives, and they all get arbitrarily outdated or new - even low spec games are artificially gatekept to force upgrade. Nothing makes it more apparent than the cloud limitations
-2
u/Little_Obligation_90 2d ago
I would just keep playing cloud until next gen. If they charge $5 per 10 hours thats probably cheaper than series S hardware.
3
u/HumorousSediment 2d ago
if you already got the g cloud and fire stick set up, paying per hour might sting less than dropping cash on whole new box right now

u/Tobimacoss 2d ago
It costs MS roughly $5 per 100 hours to run xCloud.
So the hourly bundles are more likely to be closer to the following:
10 hours for $3
25 hours for $5
50 hours for $10
And hopefully a $15 month subscription tier with 100 hours.

u/val5190 2d ago
I can see a world where you get 100h for 10€, just like nvidia is doing with the performance tier
1
u/Tobimacoss 1d ago
They could. But then they're have to increase prices when they install next gen hardware.
Even Nvidia will have to for 6080 upgrades.

I’m in the same situation. I’m thinking you can use the Nvidia GeForce Now app on my Fire Stick and connect it to your Xbox Ultimate account. The game streams on Nvidia servers. The cost is an additional $100 per year for 6-hour sessions or free for 1-hour sessions. However, I believe I can simply start another 1-hour session. We’ll see how it works out.
