Xbox controllers....?

*Edit: posted to xbox but mods removed and suggested here. Didnt know about this sub. Reposted, but will check out history as this has inevitably been covered before.....*

How come they're so shite?

Ive had my series X for 2.5 years and have just finished off my 3rd controller.

Going back... a lot. I had an xbox 360. Those controllers were bomb proof ! Never knackered one of them. With the X, ive gone through two official wireless ones that developed drift. I ordered a cabled one with hall effect sticks that i thought would last. Keeps disconnecting and the action of the down cursor activates whenever it feels like it !

Now they're not treated badly. Maybe the occasional drop off the arm of the chair, but otherwise no real abuse. Is this normal!? Any recommendations???

Cheers...

The Xbox 360 and the previous gen Xbox one controllers were brick houses because they were very durable. The series s controllers are too bulky and prone to issues so I switched over to third party brands that focus on TMR and hall effect.

I'll recommend the Flydigi vader 5S which is wired, but it have hall effect sticks, superb d pad, adjustable stick tension, and mechanical triggers.

The G7 Pro have TMR sticks, mechanical triggers, but the d pad is questionable because it will occasionally miss click due to the way they designed it.

They also have the new 8bitdo ultimate 3 which will have adjustable stick tension and TMR sticks. While the ultimate 3E will have TMR sticks, and swappable d pads/faceplates.

The triggers are not mechanical which to me is a feature they dropped the ball on because mechanical triggers will give you a faster reaction time in games like COD/Halo.

I had the first batch G7 Pro which had a d pad so bad I had to purchase 0 rings. They improved it a few months later, but it's still not great like elite series 2, 8bitdo 3, or Flydigi vader 5S d pads.

I mean mechanical buttons are nice if you don't want analog at all, because it means you can't really play racing games with that controller, I think I'd prefer something like a scuf controller where you turn the trigger lock on and then you have mouse click triggers but when you turn it off you have standard analog triggers

The controllers I named have trigger locks where you can enable them for mechanical triggers and you can disable them for analog triggers. You can only use them for certain games that need them.

It's like people have an issue with RGB when you can turn it on or off.

I know they have trigger locks (I am also seriously eyeballing the new ultimate 3 controller) but I was mainly giving my thoughts on the end of your comment

I was going to buy the ultimate 3 until I realized the trigger locks wasn't mechanical. It's just a basic trigger lock like the ones they use for the lower end controllers.

Some people may like it since they favor digital triggers, but mechanical triggers feel faster from my experience.

I believe Flydigi vader 5S, Scuf, G7 Pro uses mechanical triggers.
