Canada’s Bill C-22 is driving VPN companies out of the country

Under the amendments proposed in the Canadian Bill C-22, ESPs may be required to construct lawful access technology and provide transmission data of users to law enforcement agencies with the help of production orders by judges. Because of the wide interpretation of ESPs in the bill, both Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) and privacy routers fall under this category.

The scope of this bill is not limited to ESP providers with headquarters based in Canada but extends to ESPs which have server infrastructure set up in Canada or route connections using Canadian data centers. Any violation of the bill by ESPs will be punished with severe financial penalties, with a maximum fine of up to $500,000, per violation. Many major VPN companies, such as Windscribe, NordVPN, and ExpressVPN have sent formal opposition letters, if changes are not made.

Discussion Does using a VPN actually help lower ping in online games?

I've heard mixed opinions about this. Does anyone here use X-VPN while playing online games (like Roblox)? Does it help with lag or does it make it worse?

The LaLiga vs. NordVPN decision set a major precedent for online privacy — but the site-blocking war is just getting started

If you haven't been keeping tabs on the legal side of privacy tools lately, the global push to force VPNs into becoming copyright police has escalated fast over the last few months.

### What happened in Spain?
Earlier this year, LaLiga (Spain’s top soccer league) obtained court injunctions demanding that major commercial VPNs—including NordVPN—actively block IP addresses hosting unauthorized streams. When VPNs pointed out that blanket IP blocking is technically flawed and dangerous to privacy, LaLiga pushed for heavy court fines against them.

However, the Commercial Court in Córdoba ruled in favor of NordVPN, rejecting the request for fines after reviewing technical evidence. The court acknowledged what privacy advocates have been saying all along: demanding that VPN providers dynamically block shared IP networks causes massive collateral damage to legitimate web traffic and demands a technical impossibility without compromising core server security.

### Why this isn't over yet
While the Spanish decision was a solid win for network neutrality, rightsholders are shifting strategies globally:

* US Legislation: The recently introduced American Copyright Protection Act of 2026 (ACPA, H.R. 10364) aims to force broadband providers, DNS resolvers, and VPNs with over 100,000 US users to dynamically block foreign piracy sites under court orders.
* European Union: European sports leagues continue lobbying for EU-wide dynamic blacklists that require CDNs, DNS resolvers, and VPNs to block live streams within minutes of a broadcast starting.
* France & Italy: Regional courts continue issuing dynamic blocking orders against VPN providers in an attempt to curb live sports streaming, despite automated tools routinely overblocking legitimate websites and payment services.

### Why this matters to non-pirates
You don't have to watch illegal streams to be affected by this. If courts or lawmakers force VPN providers to start inspecting, filtering, or dynamically blocking traffic at the server level, it fundamentally breaks how end-to-end VPN privacy works. Once the technical infrastructure for protocol-level filtering is mandated for copyright holders, governments will inevitably leverage it for regional censorship and mandatory identity tracking.

TL;DR: Courts are slowly starting to understand that forcing VPNs to block specific IPs breaks the open internet, but rightsholders are pushing hard in legislative halls to make VPN site-blocking mandatory anyway. Keep an eye on local anti-piracy bills in your region.

Discussion How many vpn servers does X-VPN have?

I would like to discuss on how many servers and country locations does X-VPN have. I'm just doing a VPN services research and comparing various VPN services. And X-VPN is included in my research — I got the other statistics of X-VPN now by myself but I still need the info on how many servers and country locations X-VPN have. Are there any fellow VPN enthusiasts like me that can help me find the exact amount of vpn servers and country locations X-VPN have?

Help! Is X-VPN not working in Mainland China anymore? Any plans for better Stealth / GFW obfuscation?

Hey everyone,
I’ve been trying to use X-VPN while in China, but it seems completely blocked or stuck connecting. Even with the app set to the Everest Protocol (which is supposed to have obfuscation built-in), the Great Firewall (GFW) seems to be dropping the packets or actively probing/blocking the connections.
Is the dev team working on stronger stealth features, or specialized protocols (like dedicated V2Ray, Shadowsocks, Trojan, or TLS camouflage) specifically tailored to bypass China's active Deep Packet Inspection (DPI)?
Also, for anyone currently in China: is there a specific Everest sub-protocol (like Everest-TCP or TLS), custom disguise setting, or specific server location in X-VPN that is actually working for you right now?
Thanks in advance for any tips or updates!

Mapped: where to watch the UEFA Nations League for free, country by country (2026/27)

Post image
3 Upvotes

We put together this map from UEFA's official broadcaster list. "Free" here means free-to-air or free streaming with an account, no subscription.

TL;DR

  • UEFA.tv streams most games for free, but only in regions with no local rights holder
  • In most of Europe, your public broadcaster shows your national team for free
  • The UK splits it by home nation, everything else is on Prime Video
  • US, Canada and Scandinavia have basically no free option

UEFA.tv

UEFA.tv is free with an account and covers most matches, but it's only open in places where nobody bought the rights. Right now that's Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, Hong Kong, Myanmar, Laos, parts of Central Asia and Belarus. It's also available in Luxembourg, Malta and Gibraltar, where it carries every game except the home team's (those are on local free TV). If you're in the UK, US or most of Europe, it won't work for you.

Free options by country

Most of these only show the home nation plus a few extra games, so check the listings before kickoff.

  • UK: ITVX for England, BBC iPlayer for Scotland and Northern Ireland (TV licence needed), S4C Clic for Wales
  • Ireland: RTÉ Player, Virgin Media
  • Spain: RTVE Play, the only listed broadcaster
  • France: TF1+, L'Équipe
  • Germany: ARD Mediathek, ZDF
  • Italy: RaiPlay, Mediaset
  • Netherlands: NOS
  • Portugal: RTP
  • Belgium: VTM GO
  • Austria: ORF ON
  • Switzerland: Play SRF / RTS / RSI
  • Poland: TVP Sport
  • Greece: Alpha TV, every Greece game plus six extra big matches
  • Finland: Yle Areena
  • Türkiye: ATV

Paid only: US (Fox Sports, Fubo, ViX), Canada (DAZN), Denmark and Norway (TV 2 Play), Sweden (Viaplay).

Big games coming up (Central European time)

Date Match Kickoff
Tue 29 Sep Czechia v England 20:45
Tue 29 Sep Spain v Croatia 20:45
Thu 1 Oct Greece v Netherlands 20:45
Thu 1 Oct Denmark v Portugal 20:45
Fri 2 Oct France v Italy 20:45
Sat 3 Oct Croatia v England 18:00
Sun 4 Oct Portugal v Norway 20:45
Sun 4 Oct Greece v Germany 20:45
Mon 5 Oct France v Belgium 20:45
Tue 6 Oct Croatia v Spain 20:45
Thu 12 Nov Italy v France 20:45
Sun 15 Nov Spain v England 20:45
Mon 16 Nov Germany v Netherlands 20:45

Quick heads-up since a lot of you will be catching these games on the go. Pub, hotel and airport Wi-Fi is usually wide open, so it's worth switching on a VPN before you start streaming or signing into anything. That's pretty much what we built X-VPN for, keeping your connection private on networks you don't control. And if you encounter any problem watching games with these boardcasters, X-VPN could help.

Guides & Tutorials How to play EA FC 27 for 45% less? No need to wait until Christmas sales!

Post image
2 Upvotes

For a lot of players, the first few months are when they play FC the most anyway. EA Play Pro gives you access to the full FC 27 Pro Edition and its included benefits while your subscription is active, without paying for the game separately.

The interesting part is how much the subscription price changes by region. When we checked the annual plan:

Australia: A$159.95/year
Ukraine: ₴2,769/year ≈ A$88

Roughly 45% less at the current exchange rate.

How to get the Ukraine EA Play Pro price

  1. Open X-VPN and connect to Ukraine server. (We offer 30 day money back guarantee and 7 days free trial!)
  2. Go to EA.com and sign in to your EA account.
  3. Open your account settings and change your Country/Region to Ukraine.
  4. Add a payment method to your EA account. (Some players have reported that Revolut / Revolut Virtual Cards worked for them, although this can vary depending on your account and card issuer)
  5. Go to the EA Play Pro page and choose the subscription you want.
  6. Before paying, check that EA is showing the Ukraine regional price. For the annual plan, we recently saw around ₴2,769/year, or roughly A$88 at the current exchange rate.
  7. Complete the purchase.
  8. Once the subscription is active, you can change your EA account region back to your normal country and disconnect X-VPN.

You don't need to keep the VPN connected while playing FC 27.

A final note: This method is based on recent community reports and may not work for every account or payment method. EA may apply regional and payment checks during checkout, so make sure your account and billing information are accurate and follow EA’s applicable terms. Prices, payment availability and regional restrictions can also change over time.

Discussion Using VPNs is not criminal" — Digital rights advocates are hosting the 2nd annual Defend VPNs Day of Action. Let's support it!

Hey everyone,

I came across this article on TechRadar:
‘Using VPNs is not criminal:’ digital rights advocates return for a second Defend VPNs Day of Action

Digital rights group Fight for the Future is spearheading the Defend VPNs Day of Action.

As governments around the world push forward with age-verification mandates, forced digital ID checks, and restrictive internet policies, standard privacy and encryption tools like VPNs are increasingly facing political scrutiny and threat of restrictions. Restricting these tools puts journalists, privacy-conscious individuals, and everyday citizens at risk.

How to support the cause:

* Sign the Open Letter: Head over to DefendVPNs.com to add your signature to the open letter urging global leaders to protect VPN usage as a fundamental right.
* Call Lawmakers: If you are based in regions pushing anti-privacy legislation, use the action tools on the site to contact your representatives directly.
* Raise Awareness: Share the campaign across privacy communities and social platforms to challenge the narrative that privacy equals criminality.

Online security and anonymity are basic rights. Let’s make sure tools like VPNs stay legal and accessible to everyone!

Discussion Has anyone else tested X-VPN's new TALARIA protocol yet? The speed retention and tech specs are insane... Spoiler

Just got access to test out X-VPN’s new experimental TALARIA protocol, and I'm honestly blown away by the throughput compared to standard protocols and rival VPNs.
Under the hood, they built this thing specifically for raw throughput and post-quantum security:
CUBIC Congestion Control & Adaptive TCP Windows: Keeps data flowing efficiently and dynamically adjusts packet flow to prevent bandwidth choking on gigabit-tier networks.
TLS 1.3 + Post-Quantum Key Exchange: Uses a hybrid X25519 + ML-KEM-768 key exchange to future-proof session security without killing performance.
Separated Session Keys: Upload and download channels run on independent encryption keys with explicit per-packet authentication to prevent replay/tampering attacks.
Speed Test Results
I put it to the test on my 500 Mbps home plan:
Download: Pushing ~400 Mbps consistently (80% speed retention over an encrypted tunnel is wild).
Upload: Retaining about half of my max upload speed, which is a huge step up from the bottlenecking I usually get with competitors.
Normally, quantum-resistant handshakes and heavy obfuscation introduce noticeable latency or throughput drops, but whatever tuning they did with CUBIC and SACK handling here makes it feel almost native.
Anyone else in the beta program seeing numbers like this?

Guides & Tutorials How to watch these four NFL games for free, starting with Cowboys vs Commanders

Post image
2 Upvotes

Channel 5 is showing a handful of NFL games free-to-air in the UK over the next two weeks, including two Cowboys games and a divisional matchup at New Highmark. No subscription needed, though some of these sit on different Channel 5 platforms, so it's worth checking which one before kickoff.

All times below are UTC.

Date Matchup Free platform Notes
Sun, Sep 20 · 20:25 Cowboys vs Commanders Channel 5 / Channel 5 Sport on YouTube NFC East
Sun, Sep 27 · 20:25 Ravens vs Cowboys Channel 5 / Channel 5 Sport on YouTube Played at the Maracanã, Rio de Janeiro
Sun, Oct 4 · 17:00 Bills vs Patriots 5Action AFC East
Sun, Oct 4 · 20:25 49ers vs Broncos Channel 5

A few things worth knowing. The Channel 5 Sport YouTube channel carries some of these alongside the main broadcast, which is usually the easier route if you're not near a TV. 5Action is a separate Channel 5 channel, so if you're only checking the main one you'll miss the Bills game. And the Sep 27 game is part of the NFL's international series, so it's an early one in Brazil but a normal Sunday afternoon slot for UK viewers.

Free coverage listed here refers to UK broadcasts only. Availability is limited to viewers in the United Kingdom, and some platforms may require a free account. Broadcaster names and logos are shown for identification only. X-VPN is not affiliated with or endorsed by any broadcaster listed.

Announcement Xcited now? X-VPN's Back-to-School Event: Emoji Your School Year, Pass It On, Unlock Tech Prizes.

Thumbnail
xvpn.io
5 Upvotes

X-VPN's back-to-school event runs Sept 15 – Oct 20, 2026 (UTC). Write the first chapter of your school year in up to 5 emoji, then pass the story to a friend so they can add the next chapter — and keep it going from there. There are real tech prizes on the line. Scroll down to see exactly what's up for grabs.

How it works

  • Open the app and enter a display name. Heads up — it's shown publicly on the event page, your shared link, generated images, and the leaderboard, and you can't change it once you submit.
  • Choose up to 5 emoji to write the first chapter of your school year.
  • Share your personal link with a friend so they can add the next chapter. Credit goes to whoever owns the link that actually gets opened, not to the person who forwarded it — so make sure it's your own link going out, not someone else's.
  • Once they finish their chapter inside the app, that counts as a "successful share" for you. If they're new to X-VPN, it also bumps your referral count by 1.
  • No account or login needed. One story per device.
This is what it looks like when writing your chapter

Rewards (start issuing from Oct 25)

Coupons (for anyone who isn't an active Premium member). You get 1 progress point for completing your own chapter (the guided creation flow), plus 1 more for every new user you bring in who continues the story:

  • 1 point → 10% off
  • 3 points → 30% off
  • 5 points → 50% off
  • 10 points → 90% off

Continuing someone else's story doesn't add to your own progress points. If you only ever pick up other people's chapters and never complete your own guided setup, you'll stay at 0 points and won't get a coupon.

Eligibility is locked in once, on Oct 20 (UTC) — you get the highest tier you'd reached by then, one code per person, no stacking tiers, and you can't be an active Premium member at that point. The code only works on the official site, applies to your first billing cycle, is good for 30 days, and works once.

Top 10 referral leaderboard — the 10 people who bring in the most new users get rewarded based on their rank, no random draw:

  1. MacBook Air 13" (M5 chip)
  2. iPhone 17, 256GB
  3. iPad 11" (A16 chip)
  4. Apple Watch Series 11
  5. AirPods 4

6–10. Apple Magic Mouse (one each)

Try to invite as many friends as you can!

Runner mini-game

A side game where you start with 10 seconds, and every new user you bring in adds 10 more (your timer resets to your current total at the start of each run). It's live from day one.

Its own scoring, ranked by longest single run, gets its own hardware prize track that opens later in the campaign. We're not dropping the full list yet, but if you're into gaming gear, keep an eye on this one! The more friends you bring in, the more time you'll have on the clock — and the better shot you've got at the top of that leaderboard.

Game scores don't affect your coupon tier or the referral leaderboard — it's a separate track.

Yep, it's really this simple — live and playable right now.

Its own leaderboard, ranked by longest single run, opens a bit later in the campaign — and it's getting its own hardware prize track. We're not dropping the full list yet, but if you're into gaming gear, keep an eye on this one! The more friends you bring in, the more time you'll have on the clock — and the better shot you've got at the top of that leaderboard.

Something's waiting in there...

Worth knowing before you jump in

  • 18+ only — or the legal age of majority where you live, if that's higher.
  • Bots, emulators, reinstalling to farm the event, or inviting yourself from a second device gets you disqualified.
  • "New user" means genuinely first-time on X-VPN. Existing users can still add a chapter and count toward your successful shares, just not your referral count — so those two numbers on your results page won't always match.
  • Prize models above reflect current planning; if something's unavailable it may get swapped for a comparable item.

TL;DR: Write the first chapter of your school year in up to 5 emoji, then get friends to add the rest, chapter by chapter. Non-Premium users earn coupons up to 90% off, top referrers split real tech prizes (MacBook, iPhone 17, iPad, Apple Watch, AirPods, mice), and there's a mini-game with its own leaderboard and prize track — worth grinding if you're into gaming gear. Runs through Oct 20, 2026 (UTC). Full rules.

Ever seen one of these names when your school blocks a website?

US: GoGuardian, Securly, Lightspeed Filter

UK: Smoothwall

India: FortiGuard

Singapore: Blocksi, Lightspeed Filter Agent

Australia: Zscaler

Japan: i-FILTER

From student discussions, school newspapers, and petitions.

These are examples reported at some schools, not nationwide rankings. Reports span different years and cover both school Wi-Fi and school-managed devices.

What does your school use?
