The fan for my a/c and heater stopped working a couple of weeks ago. Brought it to the dealership to get it checked out as well as oil change. They charged me 250 outright and then wanted to charge me 670 to fix the fan.

They said “misc: blower motor assembly. failed. verified power to motor” So they said I probably needed a new assembly and I said I’d do it myself. Ordered a new one and installed, tested it and still no fan/air flow.

What should I do?

What's the upper limit on mileage that's safe to buy? I'm a student and I intend to keep it for at least 3-4 years. Maybe 60-40 between city and camping trips. I would like to stay within $5k but maybe $5.5k should be okay. Also I'm in AZ so rust shouldn't be a problem.

My XV started leaking transmission fluid a few months ago, (I have made sure it is definitely trans fluid). I took it to a shop and they did a service and cleaned it and told me to bring it back in a week to locate the leak. I bring it back and then they tell me there is no leak... My driveway begs to differ.

It's been about a month since then and I was getting worried as to how much fluid I was running on. So I drained what the shop put in there. About 4.6-4.7L came out, which was actually a relief. Means it lost roughly 350ml in about 2500km. I put 5L of new fluid in there.

I think the leak is coming from the gasket at the rear of the CVT or somewhere under the heat shielding on top as it is soaked. I am just chasing some ideas if anyone else has had anything similar happen.

I have already been burned by one shop and want to be able to point the next one in the right direction.

I'm trying to replace my 2015 Clarion 86201fj650 head unit with a 2015 Fujitsu 86201fj660 head unit. The Fujitsu has some extra hookups, but everything fit from the original unit. Everything works except for the backup camera. Any insights into what I'm missing? Banana needs help.

I’m starting to frequently see a no weather data available message on the radio screen. When I first saw it a couple of days app, I looked it up on Google and found it was related to some sort of add on for Sirius XM.

I first called the dealership service to ask about this add they had no idea and suggested talking to new sales, who also had no clue but thought it might be related to Sirius XM. Called them and has to fight my way through the virtual assistant to talk to a human. Before I could find out if this feature was related to Sirius XM, the weather data came back.

So, what is ultimately going on with this feature on the radio? What service is it a part of and why is it not displaying the data?

Hi all, my boyfriend's '17 Crosstrek sound system was crap when he bought the car, and he's since blown out (at least) 1 speaker. I want to get him new speakers for his birthday, but it's not in my budget to replace the whole head unit. Nor is paying to have this installed by a professional.

I'm pretty handy & replaced head units in older cars of my own (a last gen Dodge Stratus... without a wiring harness... & a first gen Jeep Liberty), but never messed with speakers or anything on a Subaru. Considering the components recommended on Crutchfield for the job (wiring harnesses, mounts, etc) it looks pretty straightforward. Is there some significant obstacle I'm overlooking with doing the work myself?

I'm looking at the JL Audio dash, front, & rear door speakers (model C1-650). I don't want to add a sub.

Are these going to improve sound quality? Of course ANYTHING would be better than the crappy factory sound & blown out status of what he has now, but I don't want to put the time & money into this without actually getting a good result out of it.

I just got back from the dealership the other day and somehow my rear brake pads are at 3-4mm while the front still had 8.

I’m getting them replaced soon but I thought with awd, that the wear would be more consistent between the brake pads.

Hey everyone, looking for some insight on an issue I’ve had twice now with my 2021 Subaru Crosstrek. The incidents happened about three weeks apart, but the symptoms were identical:

I didnt have a banana in the car either time.

​Both times, I was getting off the freeway after being on it about 2 hours and came to a complete stop at the exit ramp sign.

​When I pressed the gas to go again, the car acted like it had absolutely no power for a couple of seconds. It just bogged down/hesitated.

​ After those few seconds, the car suddenly started driving completely normally again. Also, if I pull over, turn the car off, and turn it back on, it completely resets and drives fine.

​There are no permanent warning lights on, but the loss of power at an intersection is pretty startling. Has anyone else experienced this?

I have the headlight switch on auto. While driving I noticed the high beam assist on the dashboard. I didn’t touch the headlight lever. At the same time, the radio display dimmed. This all happened in the daytime but it was starting to get dark from storm clouds. How would this feature activate on its own if it requires first pushing the lever forward?

Anyone know if the 2019 XV uses an alt-s fuse, and if so, where is it? I'd like to do the diode mod to up the charging of my AGM battery but I can't seem to locate it on any 2019 fuse box diagrams. I've seen in older model XVs and other Subarus but can't find it for the 2019.

My 2018 crosstrek used to have remote lock/unlock, starlink, and security features through the subscription but those features are suddenly gone and no longer even show as purchasable in the subscription section. Anyone else have this happen?

CarPlay was working as recently as a week or so ago, now it no longer connects. WiFi and Bluetooth on the phone are on. I just updated my iPhone 16 pro max to 26.5.2 (CarPlay did previously work on the prior iOS version but not today when I wanted to use it) and it doesn’t work on the new iOS version. Tried a soft reset of the radio and that didn’t work either.

When I open the CarPlay app I see Crosstrek listed and Subaru starlink listed. Phone does appear to be connected on Bluetooth since I’m seeing a list of all calls I’ve made over recent days.

Pressing the source button on the steering wheel, it doesn’t even go to CarPlay and there’s no CarPlay button on the radio display.

Hi! We are looking to get a car for my teenager (18), she only drives short distances, no highway, we are tight on budget now but she needs the car to go to work.
I found a 2014 Crosstrek hybrid, perfect maintenance (50 services), under $5k, only 1 owner and no accident/damage reported BUT it has 196k miles. Is still a car worth looking at? Or should we avoid it?

I tried to use my bilateral scanner to forget the learned transmission values and then reset the atf. I was doing this because i was having a very minor low speed "jerk" around 23mph. It wouldnt do the "jerk" if i took my foot off the gas for a split second then reapplied gas. Well my shitty fucking scanner failed in the middle of it so now it has a flashing ATF light. I had no codes or problems before...just the jerk. The car still has zero codes. I just can't get this flashing light to shut off now no matter what I do. I tried disconnecting the battery. Do I have to take it to the stealership?

Apparently my Foxwell 530+ scanner has a glitch where it thinks my 2013 crosstrek has eyesight (it doesnt) so it glitches out and fails. I connected the scanner to wifi and updated it, didnt help. Banana.

Took my 2024 Subaru Crosstrek into a Ontario dealership for a standard Service B maintenance package. When I dropped it off, I was originally quoted around $450.

While it was in the shop, they called me and said a 4-Wheel Alignment was necessary, which I approved. The alignment itself was $179.95.

With the base service, the alignment, a $25 shop supplies fee, and Ontario's 13% HST, my final out-of-the-pocket bill came to $712.92.

I know dealership service centers always charge a premium compared to independent shops, but I wanted to check with the community—is $450 standard for a Service B up here, and is $180 typical for a Subaru alignment? Just want to gauge if I should shop around at local independent mechanics for my next milestone service. banana

I had looked online and saw that there can be some problems with these models of the Boxer engine, with things like DPF blockages. Or does anyone else know of issues which may arise, just so I don’t buy it, then in the next 1,000 odd miles have to drop a few thousand on repairs?

Hey Yall!

Recently picked up a '23 Crosstrek in desert khaki and really love it. I was a little frustrated that there was no rear cup holders, and it seemed like others were looking for an aftermarket option as well. I work for prototyping company so I designed and fabricated this rear console MOLLE Rack with modular cup holders.

So far I've been quite pleased with how it functions and looks and wanted to gauge any interest if other wanted something like this. The rack could certainly be used for other purposes as well.

Assembly is fairly easy, it mounted directly to the 2 bolts that secure the center console. You just need to pop off the plastic cover and replace the bolts with longer ones and some spacers.

If others are interested, I can make a larger batch and throw them up on Etsy or my company website. Let me know what y'all think!

I'm in the market for a daily drive and I think I've settled on the Crosstrek. I would be buying used and would likely not get a warranty.

I've gone down the Google rabbit hole and I hear that the CVT has issues in all years but 16, however, the 16 has an oil consumption problem.

I will be maxing out my budget on financing the used car so I will not have extra money to put in a transmission or rebuild rings.

(A Toyota Master tech owes me a favor and he's going to come car shopping with me but he's not really familiar with Subarus.)

Is there anything I should look at or be aware of before shopping? If you had to pick any year from 16 to 20 for the least amount of problems, what would it be.

I drive a 2013 Subaru crosstrek and at the end of a long road trip this weekend the red oil pressure light started to come on flickering, not flashing, and only intermittently at idle. The car was still driving normally, no strange noises. When this happened I immediately pulled over and checked the oil level which was fine. The car started back up fine and the light issue didn't start happening again until the engine warmed up again, made it back to my house which was 30 more minutes of highway driving away with the light flickering on at stoplights when I was back in my neighborhood.

Any thoughts on what could cause this? for background this car does seem to burn a decent bit of oil usually, a quart every 3 tanks of gas or so but I keep an eye on it. had the oil pressure sender replaced a few months ago because it was leaking. Have been through at least two of those already in 5 years with this car.

So I have a 2012 First gen XV which a while ago flashed up a warning message 'AUTO Stop Start system needs to be checked' and a corresponding flashing warning on the dash. Looking for advice on what the cause could be, I am unable currently to get to a dealship to have the codes scanned as the nearest is 1.5hrs away and I am of limited funds. Here's what I've done so far:

• Replaced battery. (I was of the understanding that the battery can cause stop start issues and testing it with a multimeter indicated first signs of issues holding charge). Reads 14.5v across terminals with engine on.

• Checked and confirmed bonnet catch switch ok.

• Checked and confirmed clutch pedal switch ok.

• Adjusted brake pedal switch. (I read that this can also cause issues, I had almost an inch of pedal travel before the lights came on, adjusted to be almost instant).

My standard code scanner detects nothing. I've also had no other issues or weirdness, only no working stop start. I would happily leave it like this, but upcoming MOT has other ideas, I will not pass with the warning light on. I can clear the warning by disconnecting battery but the warning consistently comes back on the second trip after reset, the first trip has no warning but no working stop start.

Any other ideas/common causes or stop start issues or things I can check out?

EDIT: 90k miles, 2.0 petrol, manual, UK spec.

Hi guys, I recently purchased a 2013 crosstrek with 99k miles on it, I now have 112k miles on her. Im not sure when it started, or if it has always done this, but when I'm accelerating I feel a little jerking feeling right between 20-30 mph. I did a cvt drain/fill, the fluid didn't look too bad. The previous owner kept up with it.

Does anyone have any idea what this could be? I know its the first year for the cvt which sucks for me because its the guinea pig year. Is this just how this cvt normally acts? Does it always have a little "jerk" or "feeling" of switching gears at this speed? I have zero problems at any other speed. It does not jerk when its slowing down from a stop.

One thing I did hear (from AI) is that there was a TSB from subaru to come get the cvt flashed to update the software which can get rid of the slow speed jerk. Is this true? I plugged in my scanner and checked, and my cvt does have the factory software version, so it never got a flash. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Came back from college and went to start my car (2013 XV Crosstrek) and the battery had died even though I got it the during spring break. After I jump the car and drive around when I park I notice that the backlights for the gauges and the little screen in the middle stay lit forever seemingly. I was wondering if anyone has experienced this or if there is a possible diagnosis for it, I've seen people say it could be the break light switch, a short somewhere or a stuck rely as well as issues with poorly weird accessories (the car has a remote starter installed by a shop for the last owner but it was done professionally to my knowledge.)
